I can see them winning, for the novelty. And the fact that they'll be able to send a song to 2016 as co-hosts.

Australia should NOT be in Eurovision. This might as well be renamed as "Worldvision" whilst we're at it!

I don't care if they're not in Europe, this is the country that gave us Kylie, Jessica Mauboy, Ricki-Lee, Dami Im and Liam Hemsworth *.* Not that they could send the latter but STIIL!
Australia is easily my fave country musically aside from the obvious UK/US powerhouses. I think it's a nice testament to how they support the contest despite not being in Europe to allow them to compete the once. I hope they do an NF too, imagine if they sent the winner of The Voice or something like some countries do - total anti-climax |

I just can't at this. The list of artists I want to see on that stage is ridiculously long. I really wish I could afford to go to Vienna now

Australia should NOT be in Eurovision. This might as well be renamed as "Worldvision" whilst we're at it! It's worth pointing out that there is a precident for non-European nations taking part in the contest. Morocco, a country which is not in Europe the last time I checked, took part in the 1980 contest. Plus, there's Israel. If Australia don't send Kylie, I will be a aghast at the missed opportunity. |

I think the difference is Morocco and Israel are both EBU members whereas Australia are only associate members and that is the distinguishing factor. However that said, I think it's a great way of making the 60th anniversary a contest to be remembered and its definitely going to bring even more interest to the contest!
I wonder what sort of artist they are going to send, I guess it'll be an artist who is only successful in Australia and therefore has nothing to lose and won't affect their Australian career if they do badly, but have the opportunity to gain success outside of Australia if they do succeed. That immediately brings up the likes of Jessica Mauboy, Samantha Jade, Dami Im - that sort of ex talent show artist. Samantha Jade is a very big possibility in my eyes, new album out in April (apparently) and her most recent singles have failed to crack the top 10 - yet I assume she still has a big profile in Australia considering her recent X Factor victory. |
