Well it's confirmed that Mariah is at 13 and 19 on the video chart with AIWFCIY. They have truly effed it up only giving her points for the 19 position.

They didn't eff it up. They rigged it. There's a massive difference.

I really can't wait to see the sales report, I doubt they'll break the figures down if there is something that doesn't make sense.

Well it's confirmed that Mariah is at 13 and 19 on the video chart with AIWFCIY. They have truly effed it up only giving her points for the 19 position. I'm still shocked that the OCC have messed up Mariah's data like this. You'd think they'd pay careful attention to the data of one of the most consumed songs of the week. So bad. I really hope that they acknowledge the mistake and rectify it. Imagine if next year they're still erroneously giving video sales away to Jukebox Heaven. :/ It's unfortunate that Mariah treated fans to new versions, but ultimately it affected her negatively. She essentially drew some views away from the original video and inadvertently gave them away to some random covers act. Ugh. |

I'm not shocked in the slightest, the OCC do not want Mariah/Xmas songs on the Charts. Ever since 2017 when 3 of them went top 10 and many others charted. They are a disgrace.

Maybe check the kworb site when it updates? See if they've tracked these views?
Surely it would be in the OCC's favour to show a 25 year old finally getting to number one? Rather than a song nobody really knows? On another note, does the video streaming chart only include streams from official channels or personal channels too? |

According to Kworb, Mariah was viewed almost twice as much as Wham across Christmas Eve & Christmas Day:
QUOTE YouTube United Kingdom Daily Chart - 2019/12/25 Showing streams in the past two days. Pos P+ Track Streams Streams+ 1 = Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You 2,135,274 +580,889 2 +1 Wham! - Last Christmas 1,181,888 +310,853 Yet the OCC's data for the Friday chart has Wham with triple the number of video streams than Mariah. All very strange... |

That's what I don't understand, what does the OCC gain from fixing it for a random song in a way that looks so dodgy? I don't follow the charts anymore but I'm intrigued and baffled by this situation. |

That's what I don't understand, what does the OCC gain from fixing it for a random song in a way that looks so dodgy? I don't follow the charts anymore but I'm intrigued and baffled by this situation. I totally agree! Billboard/Mariah received so much positive and widespread exposure for AIWFCIY finally making it to #1 in the US. Official Charts would surely have got a lot more attention if Mariah had been #1 instead of Ava or Ellie, and it would have felt genuine. Ellie is actually the 11th most consumed song of the week, yet she is declared to be #1. The actual #1 consumed song (Mariah) is said to be #2. All because the OCC arbitrarily decided that anything older than 3 years old should have its streaming sales permanently halved. What was the reason! Clearly the majority of streamers are heavily focused on Christmas songs at this time of year, so why not let the chart accurately reflect that? Would record labels really be all that bothered by the Christmas dominance overshadowing modern songs for 2 weeks? I'm sure the labels are happy with the money their various Christmas songs generate on an annual basis. All the recent modern hits dominate again from next week anyway. No one really loses out? So why are the OCC so concerned about the temporary impact of Christmas songs? I really don't get it. When 3 Lions got to #1 (in spite of being on ACR!), that was probably one of the most reported and notable #1 moments in recent years. It didn't destroy the sanctity of the charts for it to have that one week moment on top instead of a modern song. Its moment at #1 actually reflected the mood of a lot of the public, it was topical. It would have appeared even more impressive if its SCR sales had been applied, showing the true extent of how far ahead of #2 it was. So by the same token, I think Mariah being #1 would have felt a lot more fitting. Mariah has missed out on #1 on three occasions now. In the "old rules chart" chart she was #1 on two occasions in 2018, and also this week in 2019. On the first occasion last year, the OCC had her as being officially #5 instead of #1. On the most recent two occasions, she was officially made to be #2 instead of #1. |

Where can I hear/see this Jukebox Heaven song? It's on Spotify (at least in my country):You're not missing out if you don't have Spotify though, it's literally just a soundalike 'fake version'-type cover. It has a half-decent 1,614,764 Spotify plays though |

Jukebox Heaven have been releasing covers of popular hits for over a decade. They are an anonymous collection of studio musicians who have recorded dozens of tracks including an entire album of Christmas songs, including 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' as linked to above. Their covers remind me somewhat of those old Top Of The Pops albums that were popular in the 1970s amd 1980s which were cheap remakes of hits of the day.
Their take on 'Fairytale Of New York' is a work of art. "Shane" and "Kirsty" can't even sing in time with each other! https://open.spotify.com/track/4mEEm8mUEFa8...sScSH6EhUUrhZXg The whole album... https://open.spotify.com/album/7eYUjZIAb2CA...MShaSeDUlS3Aujw As for a video by them for 'All I Want For Christmas Is You', well it looks like one doesn't exist. Or if it does it's well hidden which makes me wonder how many thousands of people managed to find it. This post has been edited by Robbie: 28th December 2019, 10:25 AM |
