Oops completely forgot this was a thing. VERY recent choices, although hooray for 'Paradise' getting a spin. heart.gif

Not what I was expecting with a flurry of former number 1s scattered throughout.

Bit disappointed they didn't play any older tracks. Everything was within the last 10 years.

Still an interesting concept & I'm sure there'll be better weeks to come.

But I think that's the point sadly, most of the Radio 1 target audience wouldn't be as aware of tracks beyond 10 years ago (although I know that's not a sweeping statement as I know there will be older listeners in that bracket who know older tracks...)

I did give it a listen but gave up after about 5/10 minutes to watch Doctor Who on Watch so I think I'll pass on this!

Hard to tell really. As much as I'd imagine a lot of their listeners would be unfamiliar with a lot of general old music, many 80s/90s number ones have stood the test of time well, enough so that even the casual young fans today would probably know them.

It's a show aimed at kids so obviously it's going to be recent songs

I listened to the retro chart on 1FM which was the chart played in full (4-7pm) from 5 July 1992. Fifth week at number 1 for Erasure's ABBA-Esque EP since nobody asked.

I would have been so excited at that chart when I was listening to it at the time. Erasure-Loonage was in full flow round mine.

I'm sure that guy's breaking copyright laws by playing those original R1 shows. The BBC owns the copyright to them and wouldn't allow an internet station to play them will--nilly. wink.gif

Is no one bothering to listen as I heard it wasn't very good last week?

I'll give it another listen to see if it can do better.

Back to 2007 for this one. This was the song that finally ended Umbrella's mammoth run at #1.

Still the current #1 on the Dance Chart. Facing strong competition from Sigma next week.

Huge dance #1 from Summer 2011. This & DJ Fresh's 'Louder' really helped break dubstep through to mainstream audiences.

Originally a popular underground track this got an MK makeover & made it to #1 at the back end of 2013. We are still awaiting for Storm Queen to grace the Charts once more.

#1 on this day 5 years ago (hard to believe!) this novelty-esque track exploded & is still very popular today.
