Well it's not in the top 10, but it's #7 on the 'Pop album charts' if that's any help?

Will be intresting to see if JCGE jumps up itunes after being used on X Factor when Little Mix met The Saturdays

The way people were going on about Last Call being the most cherry picked album track I expected it to be top 200 at the least! Good lord.

Posted by: 2ndAdventure Nov 22 2011, 04:02 PM

I'm somewhat dissapointed with the way the tracks are (or aren't in this case) being cherry-picked.

Last year with Headlines, all bar one two tracks went into the iTunes Top 100 - Karma being the highest, and I'm sure it charted at something like #69 in the singles chart too.

This year with On Your Radar, nothing's even making the Top 300..

But with Headlines, a lot of people may have just downloaded the new tracks from the album instead of buying the album with songs they may already own, which could be why the Headlines tracks charted higher.

Can we remember that Headlines got to number one on iTunes though? That obviously helped songs get heavily cherry picked, Ego went rocketing up after that as well and Higher debuted at #56.

So 'All Fired Up' could be Top 200 come Sunday?

They really need to capitalize on the post-Christmas gift card market. Single sales shoot up after Christmas because of people purchasing gift cards; And I feel with the reduction(s) it will benefit them further, especially when the Christmas music will be disappearing, fast.

Posted by: lee wallace Dec 21 2011, 12:35 AM

Maybe All Fired Up could actually end up re-entering the top 100 if it keeps at this momentum.

163. The Saturdays - All Fired Up cheer.gif It's also got another 2 versions in the top 600!

Edit. 35minutes Later it's at #155 Around #138 when multiple versions of songs are removed! Lets hope they got top 100!

I just looked at the iTunes most downloaded songs, and it seems that AFU has fropped from 'almsot top 100' to 146, and that's the only instance on the top 200. What made it jump so high the last couple of days and then fall so far today? Am I even looking at the right thing?!

Posted by: 2ndAdventure Dec 27 2011, 10:12 PM

146. All Fired Up
363. All Fired Up
551. All Fired Up

The Saturdays - All Fired Up #239

Oh great, I didn't realise there was a problem with itunes!
So as it's so high on the iTunes chart, and I would guess it will enter the top 100 does that means it has a good chance of re-entering the actual UK top 100? Or is that a bit too optimistic?

Posted by: lee wallace Dec 28 2011, 01:49 AM

Sean it should enter the top #90 this week, what is good news and it should also pass 200,000 this week as well!

They're currently #107 and #240 and have another version top 1000.

Multiple Songs Above Them
Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger
One Direction - Don't Know Your Beautiful X2
Olly Murs - Dance With Me Tonight
Rihanna - We Found Love X2
Avicii - Levels
Sean Kingston - Party All Night
Lloyd - Dedication To My Ex
Olly Murs - Heart Skips A Beat
Ed Sheeran - The A Team
Sean Kingston - Party All Night
Dappy - No Regrets
Lmfao - Party Rock Anthem
Tinie Tempah & Labrinth - Earthquake

Should be around #93! Hopefully it goes top 90 this week though

Posted by: 2ndAdventure Dec 28 2011, 05:58 PM

I don't think it will pass 200k, this week anyway. By week 9 the total was 174k. We've been left in the dark a bit with sales estimates since then, and there's been 6 weeks after that where they've been in the Top 200 (week 10 to 15). This week will be it's 16th week in the Top 200, hopefully it's 11th week Top 100. I'd say it's done a maximum of 10k out-side the Top 100, so I think by the end of this week it will be on a total of 190k give or take.

200K is probably the "safe" point in determing whether a single was a success or not. It's good for The Saturdays (although they've had a few 300K'ers), though.

Posted by: seanopop Dec 28 2011, 08:34 PM

Ah OK! Thanks for the info. Fingers definitely crossed that it will reach the 200k mark then, I think it deserves it. What about with albums? Is 200k good for those too? Or can they be *successful* when selling less because of the higher price?

Posted by: lee wallace Dec 28 2011, 08:55 PM

Erm, I think they will above 6,000+ this week. Sales will be massive this week!

I'm not sure album sales will be that big this week. I think albums only *really* do well in the weeks leading up to Christmas (people buying them as presents) and then there's always a plummet in sales the week after. For example I remember 'Loud' was selling more at #2 in the weeks up to Xmas than it did when it got to #1 the week after. Maybe i'm wrong, though.

And Seanopop - 300K (platinum) is the "safe" mark for albums. Failing to reach that is usually a "flop"/underperformance depending on the artist.

Posted by: seanopop Dec 28 2011, 09:08 PM

Thank you again.

That figure just emphasises how badly OYR has flopped, it sucks 'cos it's such a great record. Hopefully AFU re-entering the top 100 will boost the sales of the album a little.

I'm not kidding myself that it's gonna make any difference though wink.gif

Has it really sold that much out-side the Top 100? blink.gif I'd say 200k is definitely achievable in the next two weeks then dance.gif

200k is safe ground for The Saturdays. It's funny because although some people worship Notorious, when other people see that it's only sold 180k they go "flop". With 'All Fired Up' i've always found it the other way round; That people aren't that fond of it, but when they see it's sold over 200k they'll go "They did well with that". laugh.gif

Album sales are awful. The past 2-3 for any artist trying to break the market has been difficult. If The Saturdays had released Chasing Lights just a year later they would have been dropped. They where very lucky to get their 'break'.

Posted by: -Jay- Dec 29 2011, 02:42 PM

Well its official total was 184,979 on 4th December. It depends how much it sold on 11th, 18th and 25th, at the positions #184, #166 and #108 respectively. It's definitely not as much as 7.5k, for sure.

I think Vidcapper has over-estimated the total somewhere along the way. He gave an estimation of 188k after the 11th Dec chart. Selling 3k at #184 doesn't happen. laugh.gif Then his estimation after the 18th Dec chart was 189.5k - i.e. 1.5k sales at #166.

I'd shave off at least 2k of that 192.5k off, so I'd say its current total is around 190.5k. smile.gif

Posted by: seanopop Dec 29 2011, 02:55 PM

I see, so even after this week they will still be just under? That's not a problem. I think 200k is inevitable eventually, especially with the next single release, people will go back to download AFU and get it the extra couple of sales it'll need.

I thought there may have been an over-estimation. 10-15k out-side the Top 100 does look a bit steep looking at again now. blink.gif

190k give or take then smile.gif

Yesterday or earlier this week I read it was around #350.

Quite frustrating to see them having no songs in the top 1000, even All Fired Up dosen't enter at the weekends.

Higher was used in the background on 'The Voice UK' for the final battle today. Hopefully it's had some effect!

Notorious has still failed to re-enter the top 1000 despite being reduced to 59p.

notorious surpassed up for me as my favorite sats song. and IT is their best song. it's edgy, it's not catchy like shit ego and that's a good thing, it's dancey ang very big track

i understand why people don't like it like some other their songs because they used to get basic songs like ego and when they record something with edge people don't like it

This is going surprisingly well, especially considering the song was lingering in the mid 500's yesterday on the main US iTunes right? Let's hope the momentum keeps going. I like to think management chose this song as lead single/international debut simply for the irony of the title on their discography list (should it all go well). tongue.gif 'What About Us'... as though the girls are asking the US/Canada/rest of world 'What About Us??' before the *real* second single smash haha (hopefully that's why and they've much higher standard material... though this track has crept up on me out of nowhere and grown on me leaps and bounds). The last minute of the song is pure brilliance.

Posted by: Lew Jan 15 2013, 04:23 PM

They are constantly moving up aswell, they were 189 a few minutes ago, then 183 then a minute or so later - 181! Hope this continues. smile.gif I also think they are being managed so so much better right now in the US than they probably have been since the Chasing Lights era in the UK, The Saturdays deserve success, but their career is just a series of awful desicions IMO sadly. sad.gif

I think it's only based on sales but if I remember correctly, you only need to sell like 200 copies to be #1 in Canada. ohmy.gif (or round about that figure)

Charts run from Wednesday to Wednesday so they'll probably chart a week tomorrow, unless they somehow sneak in tomorrow.

No it follows the exact same format at the Billboard Hot 100; I think sales make up only 40% of a song's chart submission. Haha 200 copies sold would NOT get anyone to #1. I'd say somewhere along the lines of 25,000 could get you to #1 but thats just me guessing. Platinum = 80,000 and Gold = 40,000.

In terms of albums I know Britney's Femme Fatale sold 22,000 in it's first week to reach number 1 and that was in March 2011.

EDIT: Just found out will.i.am/Britney sold ~ 24,000 to reach #1 on the Canadian Digital Songs chart. smile.gif

I'm just going by Wikipedia -

QUOTE
Originally, when the chart was started in November 1996, there were 200 positions (with the top 50 being published by Jam!). However, because of the reduced singles market in Canada, only the top 10 positions now appear on the SoundScan chart (SoundScan has a policy that at least 10 copies have to be sold in order to make its singles chart).
Since the early 1990s, single sales in Canada have decreased dramatically, and most songs were not available as commercial singles.[citation needed]As a result, the chart rarely reflected the listening habits of Canadians. In perhaps the most notorious example, Elton John's charity single "Candle in the Wind '97"/"Something About the Way You Look Tonight" stayed in the top twenty for three years. By 2004, sales in Canada declined even further, because of the growing popularity of digital downloading of music. As a result, Canadian sales are not as substantial as they had been before in the 1990s and early 2000s, and singles remained on the chart for even lengthier periods of time. In 2006, most Canadian number-one singles sold less than 200 copies.
Billboard introduced their own singles chart for Canada, called the Canadian Hot 100, on June 7, 2007. It is based on digital download single sales data from Nielsen SoundScan and radio audience levels from Nielsen BDS.

#133 on iTunes now. I hope to wake up tomorrow and see this in the top 100.

Posted by: MyDecember Jan 15 2013, 11:11 PM

^ Yes and if you read the last few sentences it says that the new chart used is the Canadian Hot 100 which "is based on digital download single sales data from Nielsen SoundScan and radio audience levels from Nielsen BDS." 2006 was a bad year for single sales as physical sales were rapidly decreasing and digital sales had not taken off yet. We're in 2013; 2012 was the largest year for single sales...

EDIT: Scream & Shout sold 24,000 to reach #1 on the Canadian Digital Songs chart..

Posted by: WALL-E Jan 15 2013, 11:37 PM

I don't know what I'm expecting this song to do anymore, it's slowing down on iTunes which is quite obvious which would happen as sales are a lot higher. I'm fully expecting around 70-100/BubblingUnder, I don't think the show will give What About Us the greatest boost either!. I hope the Today show tomorrow puts them top 100 on iTunes, the worrying thing is that as I previously stated they only have two more television performances (Jeff Provst show will have no impact though).

Is anyone else shocked at how well this is doing already? I was expecting months of promo before it would even dent the top 200 and yet they only appeared on TV for the first time last week and they're at #119. ohmy.gif And it's The Saturdays.

Amazing! cheer.gif

And people thought this song wouldn't even make the top 500. You were all pretty harsh on it. sad.gif It's no All Fired Up or Higher, I agree with all of you, but it's certainly better than half of their other singles. Not in terms of the song you prefer, because there so much more to a "good single" than just that, but yeah, as a single, this song is strong and I could see it be a really minor hit in the US if radios could follow. But really, I think airplay is what going to make everything fall apart.

Posted by: justinthomas92 Jan 16 2013, 09:55 PM

Hope it's Top 100 by the morning! Top 100 without airplay is amazing, hopefully the airplay will be decent and it'll take off.

I'm a HUGE fan of the girls but I didn't even think it would hit top 150 on iTunes even with Chasing The Saturdays (Given they don't sell brilliantly in the UK).

Brilliant to see all the coverage and the show itself is boosting sales..

Really hope they get a new iTunes peak after the show tonight.

It would make sense to have put the EP on pre-order on iTunes, to see how high it could get after Chasing The Saturdays.

I actually think that is a REALLY clever move. All the promo and the show boosted them almost top 100 on iTunes, therefore showing that the song is relatively popular or will actually sell encouraging stations to play the song!?!

I also think, the promo and the show 'tested the waters' and obviously CTS carries on weekly so this combined with the airplay backing should make this a sizeable hit, I'm hoping for a top 20/15 but probably a little too optimistic.

Tbh, I think it's really impressive that their still top 200 with very limited airplay. It wouldn't surprise me if What About Us is already on 20,000+ in the USA. Sales are incredibly higher in the USA.

Hopefully a new peak after Chasing The Saturdays. I predict #101/102!

Little Mix's Wings has an adds date of the 19th Feb over there just for comparison (a month before they head over there! They aren't promoting in the US until March!)... nothing for The Sats yet. It's been sent to radio, but Mercury haven't sent an adds date for the track. Like they want them to fail.

This week? No. Next week? Yes, maybe if they don't drop. The thing is they released it on sunday which is mid-week for billboard as they release their charts on thursday/wednesday. They'll only have 4 days to chart in the billboard charts and that won't be enough if they want to get top 40, next week, definatly yes and seeming as though I heard higher on the radio today, maybe it'll tip into the top 20

Posted by: missingyou Jan 28 2013, 09:55 PM

Ah crap yeah!

If you think about it this album is likely to outsell and peak On Your Radar!

They have done so well to hot the top 40 and this album has cost the record label nothing other than artwork and that was made by E!

Posted by: shadow2009 Jan 28 2013, 10:33 PM

I think we're getting ahead of ourselves a little. It's amazing they're at #37 with the EP but they're still a long way from the top ten. They might chart in the lower end of the top 200 this week and then climb a bit next week with the physical release added in (assuming the digital sales remain consistant) but I think expecting a top 40 position, never mind beating #23 is a bit much.

I'm so pissed off about the lack of radio updates. How can they STILL not have set an adds date for this song when it's been on iTunes since December, the video is out, they've done promo, the show has started and Little Mix have announced theirs already?!

I hope I don't sound rude/obnoxious here but please research into things beforehand. smile.gif

The Billboard 200 chart is released on a Thursday but tracking for the sales week begins on a Monday and ends on the following Sunday. It just takes a while for Soundscan to collect data from retailers.

Which is funny because why would they waste a day of sales? Haha guess it wouldn't have been much. Luckily in the US, digital album sales make up a larger part of the market than physicals.

What About Us #224
Higher #295

Well this is awkward.

Posted by: Encore Jan 29 2013, 03:18 PM

What About Us isn't going to happen is it? If it can't get into the top 100 and is now falling constantly already I don't hold out much hope for it climbing back up. How ironic if Higher took off.

Posted by: shadow2009 Jan 29 2013, 03:20 PM

They should demote WAU to buzz single and release Higher instead. Theres obviously a demand for it.

Posted by: Encore Jan 29 2013, 03:23 PM

They should have released Higher in the US around the time they released it in the UK and gone for it then. Of course this is all with hindsight and before the whole 'America loving the Brits' thing that's going on now so it would probably have been a harder task but even so. And what happened to those plans to release it in Germany too? Now there's going to be too much competition with Little Mix/Fifth Harmony both launching over there too this year etc and knowing The Sats luck it will probably be them out of the three who will miss out on any success and flop. Mercury are annoying now too, they never bother to really mention the girls but plug the hell out of Lawson all the damn time. They don't seem particularly invested or that bothered, especially considering everything promo wise that's taken place over there thus far has been down to E! and the reality show. Hmm, hopefully Mercury are saving it all for the next single.

That aside, I want an acoustic EP from them this year. Just a little side project/gift to fans a la Bieber's new acoustic album.

Posted by: MyDecember Jan 29 2013, 05:36 PM

I guess if Higher was released in 2010/2011 it would have been easier for a decent peaking in the US considering the input from streaming was next to nothing.

Has Higher been used during the show?

Posted by: vivek Jan 29 2013, 06:18 PM

I heard it on the radio a few days back but apart from that, not sure. Radios stopped playing WBU after it's radio airplay peak of 0.030. But today it's managed to take a start again at 0.025 according to kworb

I know it's an older single but really, even before today with Higher doing well on iTunes, it screams a debut international pop single. It just sounds and feels right, much more than WAU does and ever will. It's just fun, catchy pop that appeals to everyone, whether they be old, young, a teen, male, female without alienating any of those audiences by being too sexed up etc lyrically.

I know. It's perfect for a debut. It has Flo Rida saying their names as an introduction for God's sake! I hope the label see how well it's doing and make it a single at some point. As much as I love the sound of their new dance material, I'd much rather they played it safe and if they get a second single release Higher. Ooft. KEEP GOING 'HIGHER'! <3 (I always knew this would be the better song to launch within the US) Even though it's 3 years old now, they should have still gone for it as the lead single. It would have fared better! It's much more US radio friendly, than the euro-pop-dance sound of 'What About Us'!

Nice to see the EP hasn't drastically fallen away either!

Posted by: aprilj Jan 29 2013, 07:27 PM

I hope 'Higher' manages to get higher than What About Us did. Maybe they'll then scrap this release and run with Higher instead. Higher could easily be a top 10 hit for them worldwide compared with What About Us.

I'm not sure how it all works but since What About Us hasn't had an adds date on radio yet, couldn't they maybe send Higher instead and then release the video ft Flo Rida in a few weeks or something?

They could use the excuse that WAU was to promote the reality show and that Higher is the first proper single.

This is pretty much the story of The Sats careers. laugh.gif At least the Americans are proving a point with this haha.

You have to take into account the other version lower down, too. It's still quite a drop, though. I'm interested to know what they're going to be doing during February before the UK release in March.

Posted by: justinthomas92 Jan 29 2013, 09:18 PM

I had a suspicion Higher was going to do this, I recall there were a lot of new American fans complaining that Higher wasn't on Itunes a few weeks ago

Posted by: WALL-E Jan 29 2013, 10:02 PM

Tbh, Had What About Us been reduced like Higher, It would have been interesting to see if it managed to go top 100. What About Us has been reduced to $0.69 in Canada and has literally done nothing.

Airplay is also dropping in America from 0.030 to 0.025, Ouch.

US iTunes:

230. The Saturdays - Higher (feat. Flo Rida)
272. The Saturdays - What About Us

Actually, in the past few days, the airplay was much lower than that, infact so low it didnt even register in the top 1000 readio plays. This is actually a re-start for the song

Posted by: Hurricane Jan 30 2013, 12:56 AM

The thing is..What About Us has been released a few weeks ago now and Higher only a few days ago. I don't think Higher is going to stay there for much longer.

Jeez, What About Us really is nosediving... I can't see it climbing back up that far now if it continues to drop at the rate it is. Oh dear. sad.gif

I dare say they're not going to succeed over there. I said from the start What About Us was the wrong song to debut with and wouldn't do much for them nor propel them to stardom Stateside. It's more worrying that they seem sure that the reality show was the only tool they needed to help them do it (and that's looking like its fallen flat on its face now too). Hopefully the second single could do something for them but by then Little Mix will - most likely - have taken over a la 1D.

If they don't succeed over there and their UK situation doesn't improve after this album then I reckon they'll call it quits, especially with Rochelle just becoming a mum now too, and Ben not really getting to see Aoife/Una. Perhaps after a 'Greatest' Hits tour/album for the fans or something but how much longer can they keep going if they can't sell? I'd love them to keep going, success or no success, for the music but the label won't see it like that. And since their contract with Polydor was for 5 albums I think - and all things considered, I'd say this is the fifth album... would that contract be renewed if nothings changed sales wise? Where else can they go? Even Una said it was 'make or break' in regards to America and their career in an interview somewhere recently. Think it might have been that Sunday Mirror magazine where they dressed as cheerleaders or the Daily Mail one where they were in those sparkly dresses the other week - can't remember which one. tongue.gif

I can't see this being their last album. Una is incredibly passionate about the band so I'm sure she would work something out regarding Ben/Aoife. Rochelle will probably be able to cope with a baby just like Una did. They just need to get to a level (at least in the UK) where they only need to do big performances because airplay will be big enough for them.

As for America, well it's not over yet. I'm a bit bitter about What About Us plummeting especially because it COULD have been in the top 100 by now if they bothered to stay in the country. rolleyes.gif If they're staying in the UK in February and only returning to the US after the UK release then they deserve to flop. How stupid are their label that they don't understand every artist NEEDS airplay in the US? How come they can go on Daybreak without Rochelle but they can't do radio tours in the US? Their reality show isn't doing great, they have an EP out, their song was close to the iTunes top 100 and they're in the UK doing nothing! What a wasted opportunity.

If they don't release Higher then they're morons.

EDIT - The EP has fallen from #34 to #49 today. sad.gif

Don't worry, once it is released it will go in! plus many will buy the single biggrin.gif I really hope that it does well in the UK it seems to have the most views they've ever had before a release. The best has been MHTO with 1.7 mill views, this has 4.4mill. I know we say this all the time but I think if they get a really big slot on a UK TV show then it could go number one? Even top 5?

Posted by: Mr. C. Joel Feb 11 2013, 10:18 AM

UK Will be fine. Nothing to worry about Radio 1 will support and Capital are LOVING WAU..They haven't supported The Sats in a while now and it's good to see it being played across all Capital channels regularly.

Don't forget we've got over a month before release yet, so being at #230 etc..isn't that bad for them at all!

I guess the USA hasn't worked out too brilliantly, but it's definitely had an impact here as it's given the media plenty to talk about as well as a whole host of magazine covers etc...

Don't forget WAU is being released in other countries too, so you never know could be a surprise hit somewhere else too??

This isn't too badly with the hanging around between 100 and 200 (similar to Gabrielle Aplin). The only other big competition for the week (Icona Pop) is currently sitting around 1000 places lower. I'm hoping for a Radio 1 playlist today to push the pre-order closer to top 100!

'Right Through You' (and I assume 'Wake Up') seem to be from another band called The Saturdays from back in 2006 according to Amazon! A song will hardly need any downloads in Kenya I assume to chart on iTunes, but still interesting that The Saturdays have been chosen over other artists!

^ I wasn't expecting the performance to do much. The timing of Rochelle's pregnancy wasn't the best but I do feel the other 4 girls could have stayed in the US/Canada to begin the massive radio tour & later on focus on TV performances. Again something like American Idol or The Voice is what the girls need for major exposure.

I think that's fair enough. Considering albums have been able to sell (sometimes a lot) more than 1000 copies outside of the official top 100, I would say an album being at the end of the top 100 on iTunes could seel +/- 500 copies, yes.

It will definitely gave them a lead. I can see this being #1 on the first midweek actually. We'll see how it turns out at the end of the week, though.

The Ep is #49 on New Zeland iTunes.

I forgot it already is tomorrow in Australia/New Zealand! laugh.gif It will be interesting to see how high it gets there! So it's 6am over there, I guess it won't be appearing on the songs feed for a good few hours if it follows our lesser known release patterns.

Sean Paul. The only solo mix is the pre-order exclusive extended mix which includes the solo version with Rochelle's middle 8 added.

Anyway, I wonder why they're so high on iTunes Australia................Thats a good sign. Is their show being shown on some channel over in Oz?

Watching The Saturdays on iTunes, not posting every hour if they climb or drop one spot. ESPECIALLY ON PRE-ORDERS.

Ireland #53

Posted by: JosephAloud Mar 15 2013, 08:36 AM

It's really NOT that significant if they move up from #55 to #54 because that'll mean it's been pre-ordered about one extra time than it had in the last update. The album chart is really that insignificant.

Irish iTunes @ 9am

What About Us = #47

Thought I'd have a look through older threads and see how a few of their singles were getting on in Ireland on iTunes at a similar time:

30 Days
(around 9am) = #47

My Heart Takes Over
(around 9am) = #145

All Fired Up
Can't see anything for around 9am in the AFU thread.. the standard single mix was AWOL at this time on iTunes apparently, only the remix EP with the extended version was available on the morning of release it seems?

Notorious
(around 9am) = #42

Yeah but the gap between the top 5 would surely be too hard to overcome. I'm going with a 8-10 peak for What About Us.

Safe to say The Saturdays won't be number 1 in the UK. Will.I.Am just premiered his MASSIVE new single on Capital.

No Doubt he'll release it on air on sale this week (probably Sunday) so that's it blown for them! Worst luck ever!

Good to see it doing better than 30 Days, #13 in Ireland so close to top 10! If it goes top 5 in Ireland that would be amazing! Would be a first for the girls, so if we lose hope in the UK #1, then let's hope for an Irish Top 5!

Ouch, at how much it's bombing on USA iTunes. I really don't see What About Us even managing to gain airplay. Nobody is even sure if it's been added to radio's and any hype for the song seems to have gone in the USA.

Urgh at it being so low on Australian iTunes. The Ep is bombing down aswell, don't think it will even go higher than 200 though.

The US release has been a complete disaster. Honestly to think that the people handling The Sats are supposed to be professional trained managers and record executives and they can't do ANYTHING right. Every single other UK artist that went over there has had success (One Direction, Adele, Ellie Goulding, The Wanted, Cher Lloyd, Calvin Harris, Emeli Sande, Conor Maynard, Tinie Tempah, Ed Sheeran, Olly Murs) and The Sats are the only ones that are flopping. Why on Earth would you film a reality TV show in America with the main focus being "cracking America" and releasing it to the TV BEFORE they've even started promoting the song?! The TV show clearly started off well because people wanted to see how an unknown girl group would tackle releasing music in America, they DON'T want to see and hear about Vanessa's relationship struggles or Frankie's depression. They want to see behind the scenes, the recording sessions, the VMA's, the gigs etc. Why did they fly back to the UK the minute the song started doing well on iTunes? Getting to #102 on US iTunes is a big deal and they done it with EASE, and yet instead of having the song sent to radio and doing extensive radio shows and TV shows, they fly back to the UK and do NOTHING for a month and a half before flying back to the US for a TV performance and then flying back to the UK! I know it's been said before and we've discussed this to death, but what were they thinking? Now the song isn't even in the iTunes top 1500, there's zero airplay and the girls are instead going to Australia to promote next month instead. Oh, I say promote but obviously it'll be a few TV shows and then they'll be back home. They need to WORK! They need to be in the US for weeks and be on every single radio show they can! They can't expect to have a hit with six TV shows, a few radio shows and a few gigs. With Rochelle about to give birth and their upcoming UK album release/next single release, how are they going to ever promote in the US? They had the entire 2012 to go to America and promote the song to death and they wait until they're launching in the UK before they even send the song to US radio!

It's safe to say they will NOT have any success in the US. They aren't going to get airplay unless they do radio shows/TV shows and create a buzz, and they're clearly not going to be back in the US for a long time yet. The Wendy Williams appearance was absolutely bizzarre.

EDIT - they've fallen to #12 in Ireland and #462 in Australia. Not looking good.

The Joys of being a Saturdays fan...

Posted by: Juliano Mar 15 2013, 04:33 PM

After falling back down to #63 in the iTunes pre-orders it seems after a small hint of publicity after this article: "http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a466008/the-saturdays-well-always-be-hoping-for-a-no1-single.html" The single now has a new peak of #55 biggrin.gif Some good news no? AND #10 on Irish iTunes!!

Posted by: Mr. C. Joel Mar 15 2013, 04:38 PM

The Sats now #10 on Irish iTunes biggrin.gif

All this talk about the US, tbh its definitely put them back solidly in the UK market (WAYYY more airplay than previous tracks) and generally there's more of a 'buzz' around them with the new TV show etc...

I'm not to fussed if they don't crack the US, it was pretty obvious it wasn't going to happen as many have tried and failed and The Sats are hardly Massive in the UK.

I'm definitely happy that they continue to stay the number #1 show on E! and that it's looking likely WAU will debut top 3 and should hopefully stick around.

arrow up.gif to #8 in Ireland now!

Hopefully this could become their first top 5 hit in Ireland. If it did, it would be a good indication of UK success since they always does much better over here.

Posted by: WALL-E Mar 15 2013, 06:19 PM

I don't think it stands a chance of going top 5 in Ireland, they wont gain enough momentum and seem to fall behind faster in Ireland. The fact that One Direction and others are performing on Comic Relief will knock it down. Had they performed on Comic Relief, It could have EASILY been their first top 5 hit in Ireland!

It's going to be a really close battle between Justin Timberlake & The Sats next week. Justin will have 4 versions of Mirror charting (Deluxe, Standard, RadioEdit & Brits). The music video is out next week, I predict another #02 now.

Posted by: shadow2009 Mar 15 2013, 06:23 PM

Yeah I'm beginning to think they might end up only at #2 or #3 next week (Pink and Bruno are doing insanely well right now, too).

To be honest, it doesn't matter what number they chart it. It's how long they stay in the charts for. A #3 charting and six weeks in the top ten (laugh.gif probably never happen) is much better than a #1 and six weeks in the top 40.

#52 on pre-orders, #7 in Ireland.

Posted by: Hurricane Mar 15 2013, 06:46 PM

#7 on Ireland #6 for the EP is actually very good! I think it's doing slightly better than 30 Days. Considering it charted at #13, I think we can expect a #9-#11 for What About Us.

Posted by: shadow2009 Mar 15 2013, 06:49 PM

Posted by: Encore Mar 15 2013, 09:21 PM

It depends if 1D start falling after Comic Relief but I doubt they will (hope so though!) and I think it'll be hard for the girls to overcome the 1D-Justin-Bruno top 3. In the UK I'm thinking they'll enter at #3 or #4, which is still good.

The advantage being is that One Direction will start falling on Sunday and hopefully The Saturdays can overcome that on Sunday. I mean I'm sure all they will need to shift are 60,000 sales which is very reachable.

Posted by: The47thbelmon Mar 15 2013, 09:29 PM

If they can break the top5 in Ireland (Ireland!) they can totally do the same in the UK.

I'm not afraid of One Direction. Their song has been out for weeks and they've been #1 already. It will start falling soon, although it will probably stay in the top10.

It's doing good in Ireland to be honest.

Posted by: Ryan. Mar 16 2013, 01:16 AM

It was #5, but dropped to #6 again for a little while as One Direction climbed straight to #2. It is back at #5 again now though as they have overtaken Macklemore, so everyone was right! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Mar 16 2013, 01:42 AM

Don't their songs usually peak (a lot) lower in Ireland than they do here in the UK? Surely this is a promising sign? ohmy.gif

Posted by: WALL-E Mar 16 2013, 02:27 AM

Yeah, they've not had a top 5 song in Ireland, it's quite frustrating that it Would Have been #04 had One Direction not performed for Comic Relief. Imagine had they performed on Comic Relief, they would have easily been top 3. Anyway time to stop worrying about what could have been and look forward to Sunday.

I've been changing my mind daily on where this is going to peak, I didin't think One Direction would recieve such a massive boost. I think my mind will be decided tomorrow once I see how far One Direction are ahead of #01. Obviously It's going to be a battle to even peak top 5 this week as everything seems close, but depending on One Direction, I believe this could peak at numnber 1 as I'm sure it could pass 60,000 sales. The only thing that's worrying me is that their not promoting on Wed,Thu and Friday. Their promotion on Tuesday is in the morning so there would have been nothing stopping them doing something at night!

Still #5 on Ireland iTunes!

Good to see a new pre-order peak, it should get at least top 40 before it's release at midnight which is incredible! In Ireland, atm they're closer to #6 than #4. But, hopefully when 1D start dropping they'll still be increasing, and the small gap between #3 and #4 means it could eventually get as high as #2 if they're lucky! But that's unlikely!

They Vary but usually between #100/#150 and creep top 100 just before release.

They've never had the longevity What About Us has had though.

30 Days got to #11 on the first couple of pre-order days then fell outside the top 200 for the rest of the time and only just managed to get back top 200 before release.

So this is BY FAR the best they've ever done pre-order wise.

Hands down to management they have handled WAU brilliantly and the girls have been working so hard as usual.

Posted by: WALL-E Mar 16 2013, 02:01 PM

They have done a lot of radio1 visits tbf to them! I'm sure they've already made around 4 visits!

I wonder if they will be able to get to #03 on irish iTunes as the momentum will start to slow down soon. The bad thing is when it starts to decrease it will drop fast as everything within 2-6 is really close.

Because The Sats have a HUGE fanbase so they all bought it in the first week.

As they were almost number 1, radio play picked up and non-fans bought it the 2nd week giving it a little boost.

The third week I believe quite a few songs got released knocking them out of the top 10 and then they just went into free fall without the top ten effect they just got forgotten about.

I hope they can get to #2, I believe #3 is their highest peaking song on Irish iTunes isn't it? Hopefully Irish radio will start latching on more to keep it stable through the week and potentially get their first top 5 hit there.

I hope they can do well in some of these European countries, it would really help them!

Yeah, numbers four, three and two have the exact same percentage in Ireland, so it's normal that they go a bit back and forth for a while. The good thing for them is that they are still climbing, so it's very possible they keep the #2 for a while once they have settled there.

I don't want to be too excited about tomorrow in the UK (well, a few hours), but it's very hard after seeing this.

Let's just bear in mind that this was a SINGLE on iTunes, not an EP, so all sales went straight to the singles chart, hence why it entered so high up. happy.gif

It's been back at #4 for a while now...we'll see! The mere fact they are inside the top 5 in Ireland is incredible, thoguh. And a great surprise after the disappointing pre-orders.

The Saturdays are definitely at #3! I know on the popularity numbers page they are at #4 but that's only because they have the exact same popularity as #3 so they do it alphabetically on that site. If you actually go onto the top 1500 section on Live Pop bars which is the same as what is on iTunes itself, then the Saturdays are at #3. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Ryan. Mar 16 2013, 09:03 PM

The EP pre-order is now up to #33 in the UK by the way, they have taken over Duke Dumont's EP pre-order!

Posted by: The47thbelmon Mar 16 2013, 09:03 PM

I was watching it on iTunes itself! But it doesn't matter, as now it shows them at #3 again. LOL

Oh right! laugh.gif I hadn't actually been looking on iTunes but I assumed that the Top 1500 section was more up-to-date than the popularity numbers! It is very tight so they must keep swapping! kink.gif

We don't have the data of Missing You, but I'm pretty sure that none of their singles have broke into the top100 before sunrise...All Fired Up doesn't count, as iTunes messed up by summing up the preorders to the song's sales.

Posted by: Encore Mar 17 2013, 01:08 AM

I *think* I remember Missing You was at something like #59 on the early morning (sunrise) of release. They were on Big Brother's Little Brother in the late morning/early afternoon and Una said they were #29... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tilf-lJO67M @ 8:02

At 10am release day, 30 Days was at #18.

WAU currently at #41 at 6.40am. Hopefully it'll start moving up quicker now the day is starting and the UK aren't all asleep.tongue.gif

EDIT:

Now #29 at 8am

still #29, Ep still #1!

Posted by: Encore Mar 17 2013, 08:52 AM

I know we can't take anything from it and it was released almost a year ago but their iTunes climb (so far) is really similar to Rita Ora's with R.I.P! Had a look through the old iTunes threads on here in the Chart forum.

Rita's went: #230 - #121 - #96 - #68 - #58 - #46 - #36 (at 8am) - #15 - #12 - #7 - #5 (at 10am) - #4 - #3 - #2 & she hit #1 at 12.30pm

Saturdays so far today: #236 - #96 - #67 - #59 - #56 - #54 - #51 - #45 - #43 - #41 - #29 (at 8am)

Posted by: Mr. C. Joel Mar 17 2013, 09:16 AM

iTunes is going to freeze now isn't it...in true Sats release week style!

Posted by: vivek Mar 17 2013, 09:21 AM

Itunes doesn't freeze, it updates slowly on sundays. And it's not just the sats who this had happened to. Rita Ora and Pixie Lot have done this too.

Posted by: MyDecember Mar 17 2013, 09:21 AM

Hopefully it would've climbed a bit with the next update. smile.gif

It slows down enough to justify it freezes. wink.gif

Posted by: Encore Mar 17 2013, 10:35 AM

They really should put the Sats only version up for download as well ASAP. It'll help them! Especially with Justin's multiple versions of Mirrors come his album release?

Posted by: missingyou Mar 17 2013, 10:43 AM

yeah they so should... and an acoustic one like with 'Missing You'

I just realised they only have had two #2s anyway - MY and AFU both ended up at #3 in the end sad.gif so I will be pleased if it gets to #2

can you remember when 30 Days was mid week #2 as well - f*** that shocked me. i was like no way but obvs it didn't last

Posted by: Jark Mar 17 2013, 10:47 AM

#4 now

I can't believe they've got yet another lifeline! They really need to cash in on this momentum with a strong third (?) single and well organised album campaign.

Posted by: missingyou Mar 17 2013, 10:48 AM

everybody hates me :'(

BUT YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! @ being #4 - Roch hasn't tweeted anything yet - I hope she cares!!

Posted by: shadow2009 Mar 17 2013, 10:50 AM

I purchased the Sean Paul version to support them but I'm not going to listen to it. They better release a solo version.

Absolutely bonkers decision not to release a solo version when it's the solo one that's getting the most TV rotation.

Posted by: missingyou Mar 17 2013, 10:50 AM

^ the extended version is solo smile.gif

although it feels like roch's extra verse is in LQ compared to the rest of the song :s

Posted by: Juliano Mar 17 2013, 11:01 AM

It's got an hour to get to number 1, will be agonizing when it gets to 2, I'll be checking every 5 seconds!! w00t.gif

Posted by: Encore Mar 17 2013, 11:01 AM

This is so exciting. Never climbed this quickly before! Usually they're low top 20/top 30 this time of day right?!

I'm just enjoying the climb while it lasts in case the - most likely - inevitable happens. tongue.gif There's clearly still interest in them so that's a positive whatever goes down.

Posted by: missingyou Mar 17 2013, 11:04 AM

eventually we will have to approach the whole #1 >>>>>>>>>>.. #7 drop

i just pray they can hold #1 as long as possible - once they are there. if they can hold till wends/thurs they may still be able to win the week

Posted by: Encore Mar 17 2013, 11:10 AM

Apparently it's #2?? Someone on Popjustice posted saying so. Not sure if they're right though...

Guys, I know this is a really exciting time because they're doing so well but please try to keep a lot of the excitement in this thread.
I've seen some of the stuff said in the iTunes thread in the chart forum and it is quite.. shameful sad.gif
It's only going to antagonise those who already dislike them even more, there's really no point.
No matter what The Saturdays do, there will always be some idiot on this forum that will want to belittle them and put them down. It's a losing battle really sad.gif

That said.. I'm SO excited they're doing this well and I'm glad we have this forum to celebrate in!!

Ugh a few of the posters in the Chart forum are childish. Fair enough you don't like them but all the sly digs and to label and belittle us fans as loons and so on just because we happen to be interested in their success (like I'm sure they are with their faves) is just pathetic. Sure, one or two fan comments have been on the OTT side but still.

Their hypocrisy is also kinda funny. Sure, I don't think they're wrong in saying they may not hold onto it if they get there but I was reading through the Rita Ora iTunes thread for R.I.P. - the girls' iTunes climb is pretty much the same as Rita's - last year, and some that are putting them down and ignoring how well it's all going at the mo were saying how amazing and astonishing her climb was, how fast it climbed up, how it was a cert etc (sure, I don't doubt that it's much less certain what with The Sats history and the fact it was Rita's debut) but even so, minor double standards or what.

#2. Yay. smile.gif

Posted by: MyDecember Mar 17 2013, 12:02 PM
