There's been heavy and strong rumours that Little Mix have a "brand new" single that'll be tacked onto the end of LM5.

Jesy seems to have further confirmed a new single is coming soon:

Given the messy and 2 months late release of TAU, and the fact streams of it aren't contributing to album sales, this seems like the wisest choice to me.

As much as I love the album, this is absolutely the right move. This campaign needs salvaged, and if TAU bombed as hard as it has, then I can't see any of the remaining tracks making much of an impact now. Poor 'Wasabi' and 'Forget You Not'; I'm certain they would have smashed if they were released during the GD era.

I like that song. Not sure how I feel about a cover song, after they've had such an impressive career and not managed to cover many songs. Intrigued to hear their version of the song though. I imagine it'll be a lot poppier and less Drum n Bass-y.

I love Nero but 'The Thrill' is among their worst. It's the complete opposite of what this campaign needs at the minute.

Edit: Okay, I remember being very whelmed by it back in 2015 but it actually bops. Still a ridiculous tactic if true though.

Listening to the song back, I don’t even see what there is for them to cover?? It’s HEAVILY focused on the production and it’s not as though the lyrics/melody are exciting to release over a brand new song

Reading rumours about this being for a soundtrack. So, chartwise, unless it was for Shazam or something like a huge blockbuster (and even then, it's not guaranteed to do anything), then I can't see this doing anything. But we'll see.

No info on the announcement that Jesy mentioned yday yet though.

Their makeup artist have uploaded a video on set for a music video, you can hear the girls in the background too. Jade recently released the original lm5 tracklist and one track was called "Champagne Kiss" and in this video there is an inflatable champagne bottle? Hmmm... A summer single??

I've noticed pop stars or well .. anyone don't really bother with post album singles and if they do they are rarely successful unless they tack on a feature. It's a shame, I miss the excitement of wondering what would be picked as singles.

In the streaming era, the whole albums get "consumed" in the first two to three weeks after the release. That's why many popstars release multiple singles before the album release.

Just look at Ariana Grande, she released the third and so far it looks like final single from her latest album along with the album.

I also feel like artists/label are forgetting the power of Radio Airplay and Music Videos, we've seen it so many times where singles haven't even been given official videos or had very delayed releases of them and because there's been a few times where the cards don't get played right, the single flops and it just isn't worth the investment to push the single. Thus they flop and post-album singles become a thing of the past.

I think it's a totally new album now. I think the label switch made it difficult for the label to promote LM5, which is why we got like one and a half singles and when we were well into single 4 by now with GD

I disagree with that tbh.

'Think About Us' in comparison actually had a decent amount of promotion. Graham Norton, feature, Brits is coming etc. It was just a messy campaign that wasn't planned effectively and they still ended up with good Spotify placing on HHUK it was just poor timing but it was 100% promoted far more than a lot of their songs, would you say 'No More Sad Songs' is a half single then because that had no promo at all.

It was a joke i know it was a full single. But I meant because it took 3 months longer than it should have; video was delayed, Hot Hits support took 3 weeks, no capital support. Promo was 2 months before it was even announced as a single.

As much as LM5 was done dirty, I understand the label politics and the situation at hand, so I think it's safest for them to pull and thank u, next at this stage, think it should work out good for them to be fair. I think it would even pay them to explain why they've moved on so soon in upcoming interviews.

I'm actually slightly worried about their return. On one hand, I do think it's a good idea to quickly move on to a new era after TAU's campaign squandered all their hype, but at the same time, I don't think it's been long enough for the public to truly 'miss' them. WLM is still relatively fresh. I just hope Capital are on board this time around.

(I'll also be forever bitter at 'Wasabi' and FYN being paid dust).

However, I feel like they've taken quite literally 3 steps back judging by the clip. Wings was good, but isn't it the one that fans agree with by saying it has aged horribly? We shall see for the full thing. But my initial expectation is to absolutely love it for 3 weeks before being sick to death of it

I feel like it's definitely more 'Wings' than it is 'Sax' or 'Focus'. But we'll see on that! I genuinely thought we'd get a 'Forget You Not' or 'Wasabi' type Summer smash, due to the quite clear and pretty overwhelming fan favourite, popularity of those 2 tracks, so I think that's mainly where my disappointment with the snippet is.

I'm slightly obsessed with the original A*M*E track that was posted a few pages ago, but the production on that is incredible and doesn't include the dreadful trumpet segment. I don't have particularly high hopes right now -- I just can't see how they're going to weave it all together without the track sounding ridiculous.

What did WLM open with? This weeks #1 had combined sales of 78K.

It’s likely that’ll be lower next week too.

I’m thinking they can easily go top 5 opening week with the potential of #1.

I do think this should be a sales #1 though. Did WLM do that? I remember Shallow being #1 at some point when it was challenging for the top spot was that always ahead on paid for sales too?

It just seems like such a pointless song. It's just a sample with a "bounce back" hook and trumpets thrown on top. Yeah, this one is not for me.

I can't even say this is a step back because they were never like this. They have always been so much more creative and had tones of personality in their music. This just has none.

It's not one of theirs that I'd personally go back to, and it's not in the same league as LMLY, Power, Touch, WLM, but it has the tools to get the GP on board... and the promo is there. Hopefully this isn't a sign of what their next album will be like but with a new label and new A&R this is all we have to go on... Definitely better than Only You though.

Edit: I can't tell if it'll be a lengthy smash or a fleeting top 5 hit (like Start Without You - which wouldn't surprise me). All the promo seems heavily geared to the first week, but it's short length should hopefully help it out on streaming services.

They have indeed went to #1 on iTunes much quicker than usual but that's mainly just because sales to get to #1 on iTunes are getting smaller and smaller which is making it much easier for acts with a massive fanbase to get to #1.

Everything that you've stated, Syco managed to do that for them too but Syco wouldn't release such basic trash, this is something that would have been an album track during 'DNA' days, I truly hope this underperforms because this is the worst thing by a mile that they've released as a single and I don't see myself having any sort of turn around, it's forgettable and like I previously stated it's such a huge step back in terms of progression.

I think I'm just surprised by RCA's handling of this more than it having anything to do with Syco... I was so nervous about RCA having them coz they don't have the best track record. But I feel like they're doing the right thing by moving on as quickly as possible onto something that label politics can't have a part in and it's just nice and reassuring that they seem invested in them.

In terms of the song... I get that it can be seen as a regression by some, but it's a fun, Summer bop. I don't think this is intended for album #6, just a move to get a Summer single out there and to try and get casuals back on board after last era. I'm sure we'll find out if it IS for album 6 soon enough. But I was always under the impression it was a stand alone single? Could be wrong.

This is their worst single since Word Up. The chorus/sample sounds like a pre-chorus and then doesn't go anywhere. It sounds cheap.

Absolutely terrible and even more disappointing when compared to anything on LM5.

This is the thing. The public lap this sort of stuff up. Unfortunately LM5 just wasn't connecting with them as much as it was the fans and that was the issue (especially with all the label shit that was going off).

This will hopefully connect with the public a lot more and it seems to be doing fine in that sense! So we'll see from here I guess

'Women Like Me' connected with the public very well and it's one of their most successful singles, the marketing and arguably album cover probably let them down, this will perform okay imo but it's nothing that will make people want to buy the album.

LM5 was the problem. Not WLM... my bad for wording it poorly. But I 100% meant the album/era overall. I'm one of the few that stands by WLM success whilst most others suggest it's "under performed"! But then again WLM wasn't the typical "album seller"/was a slow burner for casual listeners etc.

In terms of fan service and growth they absolutely DELIVERED with LM5 (or at least imo), but connecting with the public with it was clearly an issue and although not a "flop", LM5 felt like a very fan fave sort of album.

But this is a lot easier for the public to process. They just want straight out, fun, brashy pop from LM. Is it their best single? Absolutely not (at least for me) but I completely get the approach they're going with this.

Like I said, I'm not sure if this is even for the next album or if it's just a stand alone single in a last ditch attempt to get the general public back on board.

Bounce Back is so catchy and addictive!

This is easily their best single since Power for me. Their singles since Power have been dull as dishwater (I prefer Fun Mix over Dull Mix). The video is amazing too, definitely one of their best.

I feel pretty conflicted about this. It's definitely their best lead single since 'Move' for me, which isn't saying a lot as their lead singles tend to be pretty crap post-'Move' and I never expect anything from them, but I do really love the production (Drake's impact x we need more bounce hits). But it kind of feels like this wasted the potential to be one of their best songs to date by overusing the sample and just not doing anything to make it interesting / work with the rest of the song, it just reeks of 'we couldn't / couldn't be bothered to come up with a good enough chorus'. I think I am a fan on the whole but just whyyyy. They clearly put more effort into the music video at least!

On the bright side I think this will be a big hit for them (laziness pays off sometimes) and I really hope that will push them into putting out a second single that has a similar sound to this but with a lot more effort put in, then we'll be talking. -cue second single being a ballad-

Sounds very very cheap and tbh this is the first thing they've released in a while that sounds like an ex-X Factor act.

I could see someone the caliber of Fleur East releasing a song like this, NOT the UK - maybe the world's - biggest girlband currently.

Songwise, it's okayyy but also I'm not sure who the market is. Video is a bit more sexy and lyrics are definitely more sexy than their recent ones, but also there's a kid in the video and its doll/toy themed... the cynic in me wonders if that's for controversy for some extra promo.

The hook and breakdown are crazy infectious. It really seems to be a song that'll rely on repeated exposure to get people on board; I can already see the tide turning slightly with the reception towards it.

Honestly, it's partly the reason Capital's snub is frustrating me so much. They tweet about Little Mix constantly, so they seemingly have no qualms using them for clout -- hell, they're literally in their cover pic. The girls even went on their breakfast show to premiere the single and they still won't give it a few spins. I just find it so bizarre that a label change can freeze them out of the playlist entirely, especially when they've previously been their biggest supports (they even spammed 'Little Me'). Whatever the issue is, I hope it's resolved soon, because this is such a crucial release and I can really see a lack of Capital airplay denting its performance.

There’s simply no reason for not playlisting, they still heavily go by iTunes and considering Little Mix are sat at #1 it’s so obvious it’s because of the label change.

It’s just so morally wrong! If they want to snub them, then don’t use for interviews!

It's not that serious. They supported them with 20 singles (which is amazing considering how fickle radio stations are and they're a girl group) and they have tons of other artists needing playlisted too. Spamming them on social media and bad mouthing them is only going to make them even more likely to ignore the song.

Little Mix need Capital more than Capital needs them. Capital just want some extra listeners for their breakfast show and some content for their YouTube channel and they'll have anyone who's a big name. It doesn't mean that because they had them on for an interview that they need to playlist them.

Ok its grown on me but it's still a step down. They need to deliver something with the impact of Touch or Power for single #2.

Also the video is fun but not high energy enough for the song I think. This will be a great workout track mind. Think this will go down better with people not familiar with the tracks that are being sampled. If you thought that was an original hook it would sound better.

As someone who wasn't on board for much of 'LM5' at all, I really rather like this. Sure it's a bit polarising, but it has the cute feistiness and attitude that made many of their earlier stuff sing for me. I especially love the Soul II Soul sample as well.

I think album sales across the board for most artists these days are pretty dire, look at Olly Murs, The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Rita Ora, pretty established acts who's albums are yet to reach platinum status.

The quality of music on LM5 is the best they've done throughout their careers, they are about to embark on a mssive tour, it was always going to be hard following Glory Days but they are doing fine

Their new album selling 200k is pretty good by todays standards. If they continued actually promoting the album instead of this weird break they have had then they would have sold even more of it.

Hopefully the sales pick up a bit with this new release they should be able to reach 300k with a proper focus on promo.

Yikes. At the risk of sounding overly negative, I’d say this is pretty much done already, no? It’s had massive levels of exposure: video/song both on Hot Hits (which makes its Spotify performance honestly quite embarrassing), video upon release, TV promo, and instant A-listing on R1 (plus Capital are back on board and giving it regular rotation). It never bodes well when a song gets this level of support off the bat and still underperforms.

I’m sure with the right song (this certainly ain’t it... as much as I bop to it from time to time) they could still get things back on track, but it’s kinda alarming how much their star has faded this past year.

I think it’s not doing as well because of the chorus. I think it’s the key part that’s makes a song, but similarly to Woman Like Me they just repeat the same phrase over and over which isn’t very interesting or gripping. Looking back at their big hits like Shout Out and Touch, it’s the chorus that made the songs great. I do like the song but just haven’t been wanting to go back to it much.

I don’t get why people are thinking the girls ‘chart topping’ days are over. The fact they’re still together after 8 years is amazing, if girl groups history is anything to go by - usually by now they would’ve split up or had a change in line up.

I remember similar posts back in 2013/2014 after Salute was released. Move didn’t perform too well and people thought they were heading towards the end...

Then Black Magic and Get Weird were released, creating fantastic momentum which carried on through the Glory Days era.

WLM had a very good run, it was #2 for several weeks and that was only 8 months ago. I know the album didn’t do amazing, but I think the split from Syco didn’t help.

The girls will be fine. I did think Bounce Back would perform better than it has done, but some songs just don’t connect well.

That's the thing... the LM5 era was very reminiscent of the 'Salute' era, and they needed another 'Black Magic' to get the GP back on board. This is just so far removed from anything they've done before, and while I think it's a fun track, it was obvious from the minute the snippet premiered that it wasn't going to appeal to the masses. It's too... obnoxious.

I'll never understand the revisionism with 'Move'. It did very well. It sold 80k+ in the first week and spent 12 weeks top 40, which was nothing to scoff at in 2013 (longer than 'Wings' did).

LM5 didn’t have much of a campaign compared to the other albums they had. We had it then there was a what’s the second single type situation and then nothing else was pushed. I wish we got a ballad from the album pushed tbh because I think that would’ve made the album sales going better. But it still sold over 50K week one which is more than most albums this year have managed. Maybe the tour could have an affect? It is for P!nks albums this week and Spice Girls earlier this month.


Bounce Back is better than both Woman Like Me and Think About Us in my opinion. I had a feeling it would drop this week but I’m hopeful it could remain in the top 20/30 for several weeks. Is it on major playlists? I only use Apple Music so I don’t know much about the Spotify performance.

For me this is their weakest single in many years.

Doing covers and relying on samples of very well known hits as the basis of your new single doesn’t really work for big pop bands anymore. It’s funny it was so commonplace 20 years ago, every huge pop act covered some other song that was huge 20 years earlier for an easy smash (Westlife, Boyzone, Atomic Kitten etc had so many, even Girls Aloud had their fair share) but now it just comes across as lazy and uninspired (samples less so but when they’re almost playback rather than doing something interesting with the sample the point still stands) and is often a poor career move that results in a flop single or lesser hit.

I don’t mind the concept of Bounce Back and the verses and general vibe is quite fun but that chorus sample honestly sounds so crap to me

I don't believe Woman Like Me underperformed at all - it's a top 2 hit that spent ages in the top 10 and has gone platinum. It's hard to compare to Shout Out to My Ex considering that launched with an X Factor performance, where total sales all counted at a ratio of 100:1 (nowadays, certainly since WLM has charted, only premium streams count at 100:1 while free streams are 600:1). This difference in ratios has slowed down total sales for EVERY song, so it's harder to compare like-for-like with SOTME. I think it was a massive hit and though it's not my favourite LM single, it's undoubtedly a huge smash and got LM5 off to a great start.

Am I the only one who didn't like this performance? Great vocals as usual from the girls. But visually - it reminded me of an X Factor contestant's performance. The wire fence and having "Bounce Back" written in graffiti made me wince. There's retro/throwback and then there's dated. There's family-friendly performance and then there's catering to a younger demographic. They need to shake off that Kidz Bop perception that a lot of the GP still have and start thinking "what would Destiny's Child do?"

Yep. I can see them pushing an album with the same sort of enthusiasm, the material just needs to be stronger/more casually appealing and they're off, again.

I'd like the idea of a Greatest Hits/Studio album combo at this point. Like Olly Murs just recently had.

This probably is one of their worst. I like it, but already I'm pretty bored of it and after a while, when the catchiness goes it really is just noise.

Bounce Back is one of my least favourite Little Mix singles (I mean, I do quite like it, but it's rare for me to only "quite like" a Little Mix single). I can't see the fan base doing a U-turn with this one!

Bounce Back isn’t one of their best singles, but it isn’t one of their worst either. It’s a fun/catchy bop for me, and it’s certainly better than their previous dull singles.

Yeah I want more of fun mix, hopefully they can upgrade it a bit but it’s where they visibly feel more at ease.

I’m a bit more relieved now that I’ve seen they’re meeting other writers/producers. I wonder if they intend to have another single ready to promote whilst on tour or something along these lines...

I absolutely hate being so negative about any of the girls’ releases, but I just cannot warm to this song in any capacity. The verses and sample are decent enough, but the entire package is limp, and the breakdown is so juvenile and abrasive that it destroys any goodwill I have towards the song by the time the middle 8 hits. It’s not even a TAU scenario, which I still bop to massively despite its relative flopiness. Relistening to LM5 and hearing the likes of ‘Wasabi’, ‘Monster In Me’ and ‘Forget You Not’ just puts into perspective what a colossal misfire this was.

Yeah, like...Bounce Back has had one of their biggest single pushes and I've never felt more apathetic towards the girls since they released Word Up! and it's sad because I love rooting for them but the song just isn't it. And I really hope they can get something excellent out and reignite their dipping momentum. The time when they were within the UK's top 4 biggest acts feels like such a distant memory now...!

Management have handled this SO WELL, couldn't ask for better promo and single release. They keep releasing different video's to Youtube which ultimately help keep it fresh and builds on the streams. It's just such a shame the song isn't much of a smash. They have definitely misfired with this.
