13th March -
18 years since the single release of 'Bag It Up'! Bag It Up was the fourth and final single to be released from Geri Halliwell's debut album Schizophonic. As of March 2015 it had sold over 260,000 copies in the UK, and is certified Silver. It was her third consecutive #1 hit single in the UK! Bag It Up was the only solo Spice song to be performed at the Brit Awards, noted as being raunchy and controversial (it featured a giant pair of inflatable legs!) |

All solo Spices should have performed at the Brits.
Lol at this getting to no.1 when Loo At Me, Out Of Your Mind and Innocent Girl didn't! This also shows that this type of pop, Spicy music was still popular. Spice Girls should have stuck with this sound + Hollier. |

Today's date is 20 years since Stop entered the UK charts at #2. https://twitter.com/bbcmusic/status/974223764438310912 I still remember listening to the chart show and being shocked/disappointed that they weren't #1! (Back then I didn't know about midweeks, and I was only 10 years old, so in my mind the #1 was their rightful position... #2 didn't compute ).

Out of your mind and Look at me I'll give you them alongside When you're gone and Northern star. |

I always thought this was probably quite a contributing factor to Geri's departure. The media really jumped on it, saying the bubble had burst. All their singles reaching the top 2 was still an incredible achievement. Hell, even top 10, is amazing. If not for the backlash, perhaps they would've been around for a bit longer. |

At the time I was convinced that this was why Geri left... I'm still sure it was a factor in her wanting to stick to the original 2 year plan. I think Geri envisioned them being a bit like Wham 2/3 years of huge success then a big finale going out on top. The other girls obviously wanted to carry on riding the wave of success, which is ironic as they took a break |

Her ambition was her greatest asset, but also her Achilles heal. She set such painfully high standards for herself and the band. I'd say 'Stop' is still one of their most well-known songs. Even non-fans know the dance moves. |

Easily and ironically I'd say after Wannabe it's their most popular hit despite being one of their lowest selling ones. |

I always think Geri left because the group was turning into a proper band. She was the weak link when it came to live concerts and singing live.
The other 4 loved that side, the only thing the 4 really did in 1999 was the mini christmas tour. Maturing their sound, being taken more seriously and being a touring band, probably everything Geri wasnt about. |

It was at that exact point she went on auto-pilot. She took a LOT of the band's spice with her. They could easily have recorded Chico Latino or Bag It Up as the Spice Girls. She took the spice. |

I completely agree she looked so uncomfortable on stage compared to the rest of them !! |
