I don't think there's a thread on this yet?

I'm just back from seeing this at the cinema, I always have a low bar set for rom coms like they're easy, fun watches most of the time, albeit entirely predictable but oh my god it exceeded all expectations. It had all the makings of a fantastic rom com without being overly cliche, it was genuinely funny, the characters were great, the soundtrack as well! Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell were great together not to mention stunning kink.gif

My only criticism if any was how they used Darren Barnet but it seems to be he's always cast in these cardboard cut-out type roles where he's essentially just there to look pretty which he does perfectly ofc but I'd love to see him in a more major role but I also think Glen was a perfect Ben so I'm not by any means saying their roles should have been switched or anything laugh.gif

It's been a while since I've watched this type of film and I can see it becoming one I go back to rewatch which is a rare occurrence for me, I didn't realise it came out in December so it's up there with my favourites from 2023 for sure!!

Has anyone else had a chance to see this or have plans to? I definitely recommend if you're on the fence!

Whoever did the trailer for this movie needs sacking coz they made it look like it was going to be one of the worst movies of the year lmao. Thankfully I’m a bit of a movie whore and like to watch as much as I can, so I saw this and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. The boat scene is SOOOO good ”Ohhh they’ve gone full Titanic!”…

The main negative for me was that I felt that the set up and the writing felt a bit “forcefully toxic”. Like, they were just being nasty to each other to set up the story and it didn’t feel like a natural progression to the main plot point and felt forced. But that is probably just me.

Other than that, I was pleasently surprised. Glenn and Sydney had surprisingly strong chemistry!

That's true, I think Saltburn was the same on the trailer side like it didn't really give much away which is probably why I had low expectations.

I feel like the timeline could have been clearer as one minute Claudia and Hallie are only just calling themselves girlfriends the next they're getting married , it was only at the end when Ben said they'd met two years ago I was like ohhhh okay laugh.gif

I feel like we should have seen something in-between the day they met and the wedding to really showcase the grown "hatred" as you are right, it was a bit forced on that front, both of them dramatic af to feel so strongly about someone they met once as well laugh.gif

The boat scene was great, another of my favourites was the flight, especially the cookie theft bit laugh.gif
