It’s my week again, and my dance (and I use that term loosely) pick is the amazing Goldfrapp with what is, in my opinion, their best album to date!
Tracklisting: 1. Ooh La La 2. Lovely 2 C U 3. Ride A White Horse 4. You Never Know 5. Let It Take You 6. Fly Me Away 7. Slide In 8. Koko 9. Satin Chic 10. Time Out From The World 11. Number 1 Bonus Track 12. Beautiful Listenthrough scheduled for 9pm Thursday |

Another good pick of album for getting to know more about as I only know a few of their songs (well ones I'd hear, not that I seek out on my own accord).

I never got round to buying this one, but 2 top 10 singles in Ooh La La and Number 1 and top 20 Ride A White Horse in my charts, so I know I'll like it. I really rate Black Cherry and Headfirst though, 2 I did get hold of.

I remember 'A+E' being quite good too but that's from their follow up album

I still remember the week that came out. Coincided with The Feelings return and I also sort of remember that One Night Only 'Just For Tonight' the same week.

I might listen to this for the first time shortly. I've been randomly in the mood to spin 'A&E' this last week or so, coz it's absolutely stunning and still sounds so gorgeous even today (yes, I know it's not on this album ) I was meant to delve more into their stuff at some point or another, but never ever really got around to it. Will post my thoughts if I can be bothered to listen to it

You can always join our listen through on Sync Tube Jon although we haven't got round to a day for that yet though. Or listen on Spotify too of course!

If I remember rightly, the first Goldfrapp memory I have is Strict Machine being played on an episode of Sugar Rush (anyone remember that one?) and from there I just delved in. I was also aware of Black Cherry on circulation on work radio as well!
I then remember getting the Supernature album from Asda in the week of release. I couldn’t understand why they weren’t bigger but then I will be the first to admit, they were the furthest away from the through and through pop I had only been interested in previously! I also thought Air’s Sexy Boy was by Goldfrapp for a while as well! |

I liked Ooh La La but never checked anything else out from this album.
Unpopular opinion I think but I Alive, Rocket and Believer from Head First |

We have decided on Wednesday evening for the 20th Century album listen through so hopefully you can now arrange another day for yours.

This album gets a bit of a hard time from the "purists" but honestly I think it's fab, it's obviously their stab at being the most commercial they can but they pulled it off so brilliantly. I think there's a lot of varied sounds and styles on offer here and it was a fun era to follow (except ending it on 'Fly Me Away' of all choices)
Black Cherry will always remain their finest album for me though, but I think all of them except Head First have their place (although I do still like about two songs on that, and admittedly I still haven't actually got round to hearing Tales of Us ) |

I think 'Ooh La La' is the only song I know from this album, I do generally like what I have heard from them anyhoo though. Will aim to join the listenthrough again whenever it's happening ~
