Its been confirmed that Beyonce will headline at Glastonbury, closing the 2011 festival on the Sunday night! AMAZING.

Amazing news! I'd love to go, but I don't really think the rest of the artists will be to my taste, plus if Britney's touring this year/next year, I'd prefer to go to that...

It's all sold out Gutted doesn't begin to describe.

Robyn I'd definitely like to see Beyoncé to see how her thing works at a festival.
Katy B I'm really looking forward to Beyoncé because I was a huge Destiny's Child fan and she is an amazing performer. I can't wait to see the whole field doing the booty shake.
Ian Parton, the Go! Team I'm curious to see Beyoncé because she was clearly groomed from her very early years to be an entertainer. I'm sure she'll kick everyone's ass in terms of spectacle. Her show will be like a Broadway spectacle, designed to blow you away, and I don't think Bono will be able to live with it.
Andy Butler, Hercules and Love Affair I got U2 and Coldplay but would never have even imagined Beyoncé. I'll definitely be checking her out.
Allison Pierce, the Pierces I want to see Beyoncé for the spectacle.
Jonathan Higgs, Everything Everything We will definitely check out Beyoncé, like every one else – believe it or not, Destiny's Child were really influential on us, we took a lot of rhythmic ideas from them.
Caitlin Rose Obviously I want to see Beyoncé, because I've always loved her, she has great pop songs and she knows how to make an album.
Anna Calvi I may not stay to see Coldplay headline: I'd be far more excited if it was Beyoncé on our day.
Joe Mount, Metronomy I bet Beyoncé will be spectacular. It's great Glastonbury can book that kind of artist now: the very best at what she does.
Tom Fleming, Wild Beasts I'm dying to see Beyoncé because she is a real talent who can back it up physically – her singing and dancing are amazing.
Dylan Le Blanc I'll see Beyoncé, because she has a great voice.
Oli Steadman, Stornoway The Park Stage has a great lineup, as it did last year, they seem totally in touch with what's going on. There are so many people I want to see: Fleet Foxes, Wild Beasts, Tame Impala, Low Anthem, Sea of Bees. And Beyoncé, who is such an amazing artist with such strong creative control over her career: it may sound weird for us to say, as a folk band, but in a lot of ways she is a role model for us.
Tinchy Stryder and Chipmunk have told Capital that Beyoncé is likely to have something special planned for her forthcoming Glastonbury performance. Beyoncé is due to close the three day festival on Sunday (June 26th) for what will be her first ever show at the event.
"I think she is going to shut the whole place down, she's really going to have something special (planned). I think it's going to be good, as a singer and performer everything is in check and you can tell she's a hard worker", Tinchy said.
Chipmunk meanwhile believes Beyoncé's performance will be similar to her recent Billboard Music Awards show which saw her bring an army of dancers onstage. "I think she is still Wonder Woman in the flesh. I watched her performance on the Billboard Awards and I was astounded. If she brings that presence over to the UK it's shutdown season."

From her Facebook! Absolutely buzzing to see it, and a bit gutted I won't be there to see it myself.

About 11:15PM. She's supposed to go on at 9:45PM for 90 minutes.

Are we getting a 15 minute delay then? As I have BBC2 on and it's not started! Grr.

Also on BBC HD for those who want to see the beauty in her fully glory.

Its not 10 yet . I am not sure, there could be a delay or she might just actually start at 10. Gaga didn't actually start half an hour later than she was meant to at R1BW, so Bee might not actually come out until after 10:00, which would finish around 11:30.
Peeing myself with excitement for this now

Does anyone know anything about the gig she's doing tomorrow night at Shepherd's Bush?
Posted by: Jonjo Jun 26 2011, 10:44 PM
So. It was pretty good
Posted by: THEO. Jun 26 2011, 10:49 PM
WOW.
Fricking amazing, killed absolutely every song; flawless vocals, moves and just an all-round entertainer! I seriously hope she releases UK tour dates soon because I HAVE to be on it! WOW.
Posted by: Jonjo Jun 26 2011, 10:51 PM
My favourite performances were; 'Irreplaceable', 'The End of Time' and 'Halo'. Least favourite was definitely the snoozefest '1+1'. 'The End of Time' worked so well as a live performance! I feel I have to give '4' another spin now.
Posted by: Ashley Jun 26 2011, 10:52 PM
End Of Time was unbelievably good. It needs to be a single.
I think I have tickets to see her tomorrow at Shepherd's Bush...quite looking forward to it now!
Posted by: Aled. Jun 26 2011, 10:55 PM
That really was all sorts of amazing. Makes you realise how many hit she's managed to pack into basically 2 careers. Was kinda disappointed Kelly and Michelle didn't join her, but on the whole every performance was stunning.
I think I'd have died if I was in that front row during 'Halo' though. Actually died. Of eternal happiness.

The Beautiful Ones (Prince Cover) Sex On Fire (Kings Of Leon Cover) 1+1 Irreplaceable Independent Women/ Bootylicious/ Bug A Boo/ Telephone Medley Say My Name/ Jumpin Jumpin/ Survivor Medley At Last (Etta James Cover) Run The World Halo
AMAZING

AMAAAAAAZING. I don't think I'm exaggerating here either. Whatever you think of Beyonce and her music, you can't deny that her vocals during that whole set were flawless, her performances were either energetic or suitably raw and she's a proper entertainer/showman. SO GOOD. I've got Beyonce/Destiny's Child on loop now.

Beyoncé brought Glastonbury to a spectacular close tonight with a breathtaking set. With proud husband Jay-Z watching on from the front row, the US superstar sparkled as she became the first female solo headliner at the Somerset festival in a quarter of a century. Beyonce set out her stall from the outset, launching into a powerful version of Crazy In Love as she stomped around the stage with attitude. She told the crowd, which also included Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow: "I wanted you all to know, right now you are witnessing my dream.
"I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for having me and my band here. I always wanted to be a rock star, and tonight we are all rock stars... I still can't believe I'm performing at Glastonbury."
The singer's ability to pump out the tunes while racing around the stage is sheer class. She also got the looks nailed on too, emerging on stage as if she'd forgotten her trousers. The beauty flaunted her fabulous legs as she danced energetically around the stage wearing a low-cut gold sequinned jacket, black pants and stilleto boots.
Fans yelped in delight as she writhed up and down her male dancers during a raunchy version of "Baby Boy", featuring UK rapper Tricky. She then toned things down with a gentle performance of Happy Birthday for one excitable fan before swiftly putting her own spin on the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)".
The star's voice was on unbelievable form as she switched between a selection of old and new material. She followed up new single "Best Thing I Never Had" with 2009 track "Why Don't You Love Me?"
There was barely any time for Beyoncé to catch her breath before sprinting into a heart-racing performance of "Sex On Fire", which saw the star striding across the floor on her knees. Beyoncé's famous pins got a bit of respite when she crawled ontop of a piano to sing ballad "1+1". The audience then sung along during beautiful 2006 hit "Irreplaceable".
Beyoncé looked close to tears as she said: "I've done a lot of things in my life but I've never performed to 175,000 people. This is unbelievable."
Beyoncé gave a shout out to her former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams before launching into a stunning medley of their greatest hits. The singer walked down to greet fans as she closed the show with an emotional performance of "Halo".
DESTINY'S CHILD: [***] 655. 'Lose My Breath' ['#1's]

Adele was reportedly forced to reject an opportunity to duet with Beyoncé during her headline slot at Glastonbury festival on Sunday evening.
The "Set Fire to the Rain" songstress had to refuse the offer as she is under strict instructions to rest her voice after contracting acute laryngitis earlier this month.
"Adele was absolutely gutted, Beyoncé is one of her big heroes. It would have been the stuff of dreams to perform with her - the gig of her life," a source told The Sun.
"But docs have told her she's got to rest her voice or risk damaging her prized asset. She hopes one day they can do something together."
Beyoncé played a 17-track set, which included her hits "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and "Irreplaceable" as well as a Kings of Leon cover and a Destiny's Child medley, to a packed-out field of 175,000 festival-goers.
The 29-year-old performer described her headline performance at the Somerset festival as one of her career highlights, stating that the "night was a dream".
Do you think (if it's true) they would have performed 'Someone Like You'? Or do you think it would have been a Beyoncé song?

Not a clue, but one thing I do know is that it would've been amazing.

An unusual and controversial choice to headline the third day of the festival, Beyoncé certainly got viewers watching from home. A peak audience of around 2.5 million viewers tuned into BBC Two from 10PM to watch Beyoncé's set, which included a cover of Kings of Leon track "Sex on Fire". Coverage of the last day of the weekend averaged 1.2 million between 10PM and 2AM last night on the channel.

I was completely blown away by her performances - flawless! I was so surprised to see the crowd singing along with 'Irreplaceable'.
Posted by: Cremey Jun 28 2011, 06:41 PM
So damn good! Quickly falling in love with her. The 'Run the World (Girls)' and 'End of Time' performances were the definite highlights for me but the whole thing was incredible. I really want to see her live at some point, like Theo said, hopefully she'll tour soon! Must admit that I was a bit gutted she didn't perform 'Countdown' or 'I Was Here' though!
Oh and one more thing...what was the point of 'Tricky' during 'Baby Boy' exactly?! Ha.
Posted by: Davidson Jun 28 2011, 06:55 PM
Repeat on BBC3 right now, watching again!

I got goosebumps at 'Halo' for a second time, just outstanding.

The former Destiny's Child singer, who sang her solo and group hits and covers at the music festival last weekend, was turned down by musician Lennox because she had a back injury and could not perform on stage. The "Walking on Broken Glass" singer Lennox told BBC 6 Music reporter Sinead Garvan about the invitation. In December last year, Lennox named Beyoncé as one of her favourite singers, together with Shakira, Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin.
She was also named the best act of Glastonbury 2011 over at http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a327860/beyonce-named-best-act-of-glastonbury-2011.html, where thousands of people voted. She got 43.6% of the vote!

Yeah because the people who use DS are largely housewives and gays who would obviously favour a pop act over a load of rock bands. Doesn't the big pop showcase always go down best at Glasto anyway though? I'm sure Shakira received rave reviews for her (amazing) set last year.

From Gwyneth's Harper's Bazaar interview:
As it happens, while Beyoncé was headlining the Glastonbury Festival last June (the night after Coldplay), Gwyneth was watching by the side of the stage with Jay-Z and testifies to the fact that her friend's performance was punctuated by the miserable side effects of early pregnancy: "She was absolutely incredible, especially as she was barfing in between."
