Only 11 #1s in the whole of 2013 - I'm all for a few longer running #1s but that would just be DULL if it were the official chart. Surely even the Hot 100 usually has more than that? Interesting though that there were more #1s in 2012 despite fewer chart weeks.

(thanks for this thread BTW, I trust you plan to keep it updated)

'Rude' is actually only the 7th Hot 100 #1 of 2014 so far.

Love the idea of the topic, Rather Be 11 weeks at #1 would do my head in, its crazy to think 8 #1s for 2014 so far, when in the official chart there is a total of 23 #1s with only Ella Henderson, Pharrell, Clean Bandit and Mr. Probz staying longer than a week.

I do wonder if the UK chart will ever look like the hot 100 with not many #1s per year. It probably won't happen for a few years but once streaming becomes more popular than sales then this is how the list of #1s could look. Buzzjackers would be complaining about the lack of change at #1 all the time

Edited with this weeks new number 1, the 8th of 2014 - and it could be there sometime for Magic! and "Rude".

I think Nico & Vinz will knock them off pretty quickly.

If last year's anything to go by, it should really benefit Mariah, Wham and The Pogues. And of course Michael Buble who had 10(!) entries in the Christmas chart out of 22 Christmas songs:

We're okay for now, the changeover at #1 is still very fast, but in 5 years time I can see 5+ weeks at #1 becoming the norm, since by then the chart will probably be 90%+ streaming.

So basically the songs that get to No1 will actually be the most popular ones and not one weekers like Will.i.am this year. Buzzjackers just hate that because theyre fanbases acts wont get a look in tongue.gif

Greg Lake did VERY well last yr. I wonder how well the songs in this chart sell on this week? Could have a few Michael Buble songs in there this yr smile.gif. Did the XF not do well on streaming?

Updated with Ed's seventh week at the top for "Thinking Out Loud". Very likely that Mark Ronson will takeover next week and remain there for some time so we're only going to have 15 number 1s in 2014.

One Direction post the first ever debut at No.4 this week and Justin Bieber equals OMI's domination by notching an eighth week at the top of the streaming chart.

Only 9 different #1s so far in 2015, welcome to Hadji's nightmare. biggrin.gif
