Brilliant news, glad it's made it big on both sides of the Atlantic!

just read he's the first Scottish #1 as a lead in the US since Eurythmics and Simple Minds in the mid 80s, not counting Calvin Harris as featured in We Found Love

Wow that’s an amazing achievement. I’m kinda surprised it managed it, I feel just a top 10 peak makes more sense. Although I guess it’s hard to tell how big it actually is in America without being there. I was at vacation at Florida two weeks back and it was on the radio all the time. Only tracks they played more were "No Guidance", "Senorita" and "Truth Hurts". This post has been edited by hlavkus: Oct 29 2019, 10:52 AM |

He gets a hard time on here at times but I really like Lewis.
This isn’t his best song but as a person he’s fantastic and he’s deserving of the success he’s had. His album is also great as is his vocal. Was just wondering when I seen it was #1 there who the last Scottish act to get a #1 was other than Calvin. Well done to him though. There’s not many brits who’ve did this in their debut era though. Unless I’m missing someone was Leona the last person to do this in terms of their first album. |

it's easily his best song, the lyrics are very good, unlike some of his other songs like Bruises for instance
these are lyrics that really come from the guts and anyone who's been thru a breakup can relate, they're very Adele-21, I personally relate to the song... but I understand that others don't, the lyrics are not for everybody I think his voice is just ok, in some registers he sounds off, don't think his vocals are amazing |

regarding Scottish people, Rod Stewart must have had some US #1s... he did it with All for Love, with Sting and Bryan Adams in the early 90s but that's not solo of course...
UK artists making it big with their debut in recent times I can think of Sam Smith... but not sure if Stay with Me peaked at #1 or not |

Just looking at the list of 80s number 1s,Sheena Easton got to no.1 in 1981 with Morning Train (Nine To Five) so she might be the last solo Scot to get to no.1 there.

Taio Cruz and Jay Sean both hit #1 with their first chart entries, but technically neither one was their debut era. Further back than that, it'd indeed be Leona Lewis in 2008, and then James Blunt in 2005. |

ZAYN!!! Oops I missed that.
I knew Slayona was still one of the most recent ones debut era wise. My mam kept saying Adele but she didn’t get I was meaning debut era and the 21 era was her second album. |
