Wow, very impressed by some of those shots - felt movie like!!
I think that’s finally the right level of promo that is needed right now - build excitement by having something more substantial but still keeping cards to the chest at this earlier stage. I cannot wait for the full blown monsters trailer! Seems like they’re wanting to focus on new monsters which I think will be a good thing as it’s been a looooong time since we’ve had a good strong and rememberable new monster. The Zygons are the only recent one I can think of and they were created in the 1970s!! The Daleks have apparently yet to appear with two weeks left for filming on the Xmas special. |

And if they ever brought Daleks back I'd like them to focus on making them scary again imo (I'd rather want new villains and monsters tho) |

Chris Chibnall has confirmed there's no two-parters this series. That's a bit of a letdown but I imagine there'll still be some sort of series arc rather than all the episodes being standalones. This second trailer seemingly doesn't give us any new information then but it's good to have some visuals, it's all looking good but hopefully we get some more information about the companions and a glimpse of the aliens we'll be seeing soon. Don't they have to include the Daleks in every season else they lose their license to them or something though? I'm sure there'll be at least one episode where they show up anyway. |

That's a bit more like it, at least we have a sense of the worlds off of Earth which look quite good. Still not sure how I feel about four people travelling, that'll take some getting used to.
If there's a monster I wanna see back (even if they were a creation of the last showrunner) it's the Weeping Angels, I miss them D: |

Wow, very impressed by some of those shots - felt movie like!! I'm rewatching from series 1 right now and the production quality looks so different! I'm excited for this it looks really good, if anything I'd be happy if that was all we get to see until the release. It's great having a sneak peak at some of the monsters/aliens/villains but it's far too easy to accidentally show too much and ruin the surprise. I was a bit skeptical about here saying "best friends" at first but it does make sense that she's moving on from saying 'companions'. David Tennant's Doctor was very attached to his companions and eventually had to let them all go in (mostly) heartbreaking ways. Matt Smith & Peter Capaldi's Doctors, whilst were very 'fun' at times, showed the age of the Doctor and how he doesn't want to get too emotionally involved with the people he travels with because he realises there's never a happy ending. It's a shame this probably means we'll never see River again though, as her character would have definitely said "So you're a man again I see" or something and obviously we've seen how they first & last meet each other so there's so room there :/ |

When was the last time they had 3 companions properly? Late Tom Baker/Peter Davison era in the early 80s? It seemed to work then I suppose.

The last permanent one was the Fifth Doctor with Adric, Nyssa and Tegan in the 80s! We've seen some instances in New Who - Amy, Rory and River were the TARDIS team on several occasions and I think they all worked brilliantly together, plus my personal favourite of Rose, Jack and Mickey with Nine in Boom Town I wish we'd seen more of that dynamic! |

Has The Doctor ever referred to a companion as his best friend before this? Other than Donna I can’t think of anyone in New Who

Has The Doctor ever referred to a companion as his best friend before this? Other than Donna I can’t think of anyone in New Who The 4th Doctor referred to Sarah Jane, K9 and Romana as his best friends. 5 was mainly pissed off with his companions, 6 tried to kill/ argue with most of his and 7 was too busy manipulating his. The other latter Doctor just tried to get off with them (sweeping statements obviously... but I think only the 4th overtly referred to his Companions as best or 2nd best friends). Over the weekend I watched the comic con/ the trailer etc and have to say am quite excited for the new series now; Jodie was very charismatic and actually seemed mad/ barmy enough to be an excellent Doctor. Also interested in the Doctor/ companion dynamics as I think it came across that they had good chemistry. Also I do kinda like the fact this is going to be all fresh; nothing hanging over etc. Whilst I enjoyed series 10 and Capaldi alot, I think the show did need a reboot. |

London Comic Con this weekend has every living Doctor (other than Jodie and Sylvester, who had to cancel), as well as loads of companions. I wish I was there!

It would cost an absolute bomb to get photos with each though sadly!
Best bet is to get a photo with Bonnie Langford for a tenner |
