Well done Iran and Morocco for qualifying but they have no chance of making it out of the group probably

I think this group is going to be closer than people think. I'm telling you Morocco and Iran are probably the two of the better non-European/South American teams in the entire tournament and their style of play will likely frustrate the big dogs. I can envision upsets happening.

Whilst that's true they've ended up with 2 of the toughest teams to beat, Spain being one of the best teams and Portugal... have Ronaldo.

On paper Spain Vs Portugal looks like a match to decide who will win the group with 9 points because it's unlikely that they will drop points against Morocco and Iran. Maybe if Portugal have an off day Morocco could get a point against them.

I'm seriously backing Portugal to be the bigger team that fail miserably at the tournament, they won the Euros but they were both incredibly shite and unbelievably lucky. Any other tournament of the previous 20 years they'd have been out in the group stage, drew their first 5 matches (1 won in ET) against teams ranked worse than them, and only produced one properly decent performance against a Wales team who seemed to freeze. They have some firepower but still reliant on three ancient and massively past it centre halves.
Morocco have some talent and a brilliant manager. This post has been edited by RabbitFurCoat: 31st May 2018, 08:44 PM |

I'd say Morocco could easily go through in this group - Portugal strike me as a side that could slip up.

The Euros win was a complete fluke. Ronaldo has been poor this season for Ronaldo, he doesn't affect games as much at the moment. Obviously he is capable of a big moment but the players around him are so average. Think Iran will be lucky to score a goal but Morocco definitely have a chance to make it out of the groups. If they beat Iran and Spain win their first group game it's massive. |

If Morocco do manage to get something from their games against Spain and Portugal. There's no reason why that can't get into the second round. But it is quite an ask.

Spain will be looking for a new manager after the World Cup with Julen Lopetegui being appointed as manager of Real Madrid.

Fernando Hierro has been announced that he will take charge of Spain following Lopetegui's sacking.

So tomorrow, Morocco v Iran will probably be a goalless draw. I'm giving that a miss.
Portugal v Spain hopefully that should be a good match. |

Morocco absolutely must win that match if they are to be considered one of the shock qualifiers.
Especially given Portugal/Spain could very well end in a draw. |

Yeh agree with Rooney there Morocco are the best of the African teams - they may surprise Portugal. The Iberian Derby will be the first game I enjoy on time.

If the Morocco vs Iran match finishes 0-0, that'll be excellent news for Spain and Portugal as both will now almost certainly qualify. I am hoping Spain and Portugal don't get too complacent though and just play for a draw later.

I was hoping one team would get something from this. Bit of an underwhelming day for Eid celebrations with the 3 teams from Islamic nations putting themselves in massive trouble on it.
or... never mind that, IRAN SMASH |
