Is that an official thing now or just for teams? I wasn't sure laugh.gif

Posted by: tuberculotita* Apr 9 2020, 10:01 AM

I’m going to move it to that forum! It is for a teams task but everyone can contribute there it is like an actual AF!

Hopefully this doesn't completely flop laugh.gif Probably the least likely former member to do well :')

Is Big Brother still hurting her reputation these days?

Between her and Danielle Lloyd I don’t know who the public still see as more racist

I was put right off Jo after that though and never seen her the same since. I always felt like Danielle got off very lightly compared to Jo and Jade but Danielle was the least known of the three back then

Jade was like the 00s Gemma Collins to an extent in the pre social media days and Jo was high profile as S Club were pretty big and remembered fondly at the time too.

At best though the album will do a Louise and manage to chart for a week before dropping out but she could also do a Fleur East

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Apr 14 2020, 11:22 PM

Any chance this can be moved to the Pop forum given it's an upcoming release?

Done!

Were you not sticking up for Camilla over her racist behaviour? I find this really interesting.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Apr 15 2020, 01:46 AM

Camila was 15 and her racist activity was on social media too. Not as if that makes it better but Jo was a grown woman! Plus whilst I’ve never been racist I’ve said and done some pretty silly things when I was that age and if those things come out about me years later I’d be mortified! Likely the way CC was. It’ll always follow her with certain people but I’ll only lose major respect her if she did it again now.

Jo was a grown woman and she done hers on national tv very different. It’s not so much I’m hanging out Jo to dry or anything I just think if Jade Goody got treated one way the other two should’ve had the same treatment. I honestly still believe to this day though that Danielle Lloyd was by far the worst of the three in terms of the bullying actually being racist. Plus CBB racism gate is one of the biggest controversy that show ever had! It was spoken about in parliament, it was a worldwide news story. Many many people will still remember that where as if you ask some random from the UK if they’ve seen CCs tweets I don’t think as many would remember that as they would that CBB series.

Anyways I won’t go off topic again! As this is about her album good for her if she wants to revive her solo career x

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Apr 15 2020, 01:53 AM

Cant see her doing much with this but could to ser her giving it a shot, I do agree that could do a louise or a fleur east, hard to call.

Posted by: tommie Apr 15 2020, 04:10 AM

What the hell has she done to her face?

Posted by: vibe Apr 15 2020, 11:09 AM

The cigarettes killed her voice ! She used to be a great singer!

Posted by: ___∆___ Apr 15 2020, 11:22 AM

Her Instagram lives with her karaoke machine have been iconic kink.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Aug 27 2020, 12:06 AM

I guess it's been delayed a bit from being this summer, but it's still coming!

Posted by: JosephStyles Apr 10 2021, 03:35 PM

New single is out in May and it's called I'll Be There For You - no word on whether it's a cover or original though!

Posted by: tommie Apr 10 2021, 03:44 PM

I guess she might be playlisted by Radio 2.

Posted by: Prettylittlebry Apr 10 2021, 09:45 PM

Still waiting for her first album to be put back online

Posted by: Tombo Apr 14 2021, 07:15 PM

I'd prefer a full S Club 7 reunion album tbh

Posted by: PAJ May 26 2021, 09:10 PM

I’ve got her debuts (only) album floating around somewhere. I don’t think I’ve listened to it in 14 odd years. I only remember What Hurts The Most.

Posted by: dannjohn May 27 2021, 03:53 PM

everything i've watched her do she seems really light and positive nowadays... is it cause she quit smoking? She just seems to have such a joy about her.

Posted by: Juan Carlos Jun 24 2021, 04:06 PM

Her new album is called With Love and it will be released on August 27. There's going to be 12 tracks on it, including the unplugged versions of "Don't Stop Movin'" and "Relentless". The lead single "On The Surface" is out tomorrow

Tracklist:

1. I'll Be There
2. On The Surface
3. Breathe In
4. Closer
5. I Hope You Dance
6. Lay Your Hurt On Me
7. Pieces
8. Sweet Surrender
9. Missing You
10. Relentless (Unplugged)
11. Heaven
12. Don't Stop Movin' (Unplugged)

Posted by: JosephStyles Jun 24 2021, 04:44 PM

Lovely artwork! wub.gif

I don't think I ever heard Relentless, I must get round to it before the new one comes out! I've just heard the unplugged version of its title track and it's gorgeous heart.gif better than the Don't Stop Movin' unplugged!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jun 24 2021, 07:36 PM

I can't believe this is actually happening.

Mind you, the entire package doesn't look as slapdash and tacky as Relentless to be fair.

Posted by: PAJ Jun 24 2021, 11:23 PM

Pre order is up on iTunes and it has previews.

Posted by: Prettylittlebry Jun 25 2021, 10:04 AM

Breathe In is a cover of Lucie Silvas’ 2005 single!

I’m going to pick a couple of the songs I love the most from all the albums and I’m going to make an album of acoustic S Club songs.”

Quite intrigued to see what songs she picks!

Posted by: PAJ Jul 26 2021, 12:22 AM

Ooh this has huge potential!

Reach is a guarantee I think. Always liked You’re My Number One.

Two In A Million and Bring It All Back will probably feature and I wonder if she’d do the Rachel led Natural?

Posted by: dannjohn Jul 26 2021, 10:28 AM

i'm surprised her team didn't suggest she do that first...

It's fair to assume she's speaking relatively laugh.gif the response from the fans was probably a success to her.

Posted by: dannjohn Aug 3 2021, 11:41 AM

its probably going to cause the biggest buzz from this era

Posted by: PAJ Aug 3 2021, 11:28 PM

I’ve just finished ,is tensing to her first album Relentless for the first time. It’s better than I was expecting. I don’t think I’d have liked it in 2005 as it’s not really S Club 7 like but in its own I quite like it.

Posted by: Billy. Aug 27 2021, 07:22 AM

This album is sublime, even the covers.

Posted by: PAJ Aug 27 2021, 07:29 AM

I’ll have to give this a listen over the weekend.

What are the covers?

Posted by: Billy. Aug 27 2021, 10:20 AM

Missing You, I Hope You Dance, Heaven and Breathe In I think

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 27 2021, 12:30 PM

It's a stunning album, just hearing her voice on new material is enough for me wub.gif the Breathe In cover is really good!

Given this album a listen now and it’s really nice. Such an enjoyable listen.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Aug 31 2021, 09:05 PM

77 in the mids,, so sadly it will miss the top 100, I genuinely thought she could do enough to get a top 100 album this week.

Posted by: diamondtooth Sep 2 2021, 09:08 PM

The chart position will be disappointing. But I am shocked by how much I love this album. It’s growing on me more each day. I am not a S Club fan and never heard Jo’s first album but this has converted me.
The only songs I skip are the 2 acoustic ones. Love the rest.

Posted by: ___∆___ Sep 2 2021, 09:17 PM

It was always going to be a uphill battle for Jo to make this album a success but in fairness to her and her team they done everything they could with multiple formats, getting its stocked in HMV etc and Jo managed to get quite a bit of daytime and radio promo.

It deserves to do much better than its chart placing tomorrow cry.gif

Posted by: spiceboy Sep 3 2021, 09:40 AM

77 is so low!!!

Posted by: dannjohn Sep 3 2021, 03:01 PM

she should have got top 40 minimum i reckon?

Posted by: ___∆___ Sep 3 2021, 05:39 PM

I wonder where she ended up and how many she sold this week? drama.gif

Posted by: -Jay- Sep 3 2021, 06:34 PM

I haven't seen the Top 200 yet, but judging by it being midweek #148 on Thursday, chances are it has missed the chart today sad.gif

Jo really needed some support from Radio 2 to connect with a larger audience.

Posted by: schizo_spice Sep 4 2021, 12:29 AM

I do feel for her she really put her heart into this album and is bound to feel deflated by the outcome.

The whole album is so Radio 2 friendly, I don't understand why they didn't bother with her. I still think people think of her Big Brother stint whenever she's brought up.

Posted by: JosephStyles Sep 4 2021, 11:23 AM

I guess that was the last time she was particularly notable unfortunately. Jade Goody was quite prominent in proving her remorse and then her tragic cancer ordeal saw quite the public turnaround, but Jo's been in the shadows since then (save for the S Club reunion where she was one of seven people so I doubt people overly cared). People definitely still think of the racism first for her and the high quality of this album probably wasn't enough for Radio 2 to overlook that, no matter how many times she's apologised in the years since. A shame because I really do love the album.

Posted by: Billy. Sep 4 2021, 11:41 AM

I think aswell, the attitude towards racism has rightfully changed over the past year with tolerance levels finally at an all time low and any promotion Jo has done regarding the album has either erased the CBB incident or spoke about how difficult the ordeal was for [i]her[/]. I know it’s been 14 years but considering that was really the last thing Jo featured prominently in, I think she really should’ve spoken about it before releasing the album? Maybe then radio stations etc would’ve been more open to playing her music.

I love the album btw and I don’t think she really needs any more hate, and I can understand why she hasn’t opened up about it.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Sep 4 2021, 01:29 PM

Big Brother really destroyed her and she never really got the opportunity to move on from it, she didnt have the profile to turn things around and I think its probably why radio 2 didnt support her as to be fair its not because of the quality of the music.

Posted by: Jord Sep 4 2021, 05:54 PM

I don’t think it bodes well when she discusses CBB with a poor me attitude. She really should’ve just apologised for what happened but the mentions of I lost everything, I’m still rebuilding, this happened to me isn’t really gonna make people feel sorry for her. It’s not the best of moves to make out you’re the victim in situations where you were in the wrong.

The CBB she was on was at the time the most complained about thing on TV ever wasn’t it.

Jo was always gonna struggle after that show. I’d argue she had the most to lose being a musician and a member of a group who were at the time a fairly big name. Jade being a reality star with no major talent it would’ve easier for her to turn things around if life wasn’t as tragic and with Danielle being a model and not exactly a household name she could go on to go a tad unscathed by the whole thing even though she was actually the worst behaved it was probably easier for her to continue her career than it would’ve been for Jo who’s career lies in music.

Plus this is her first album in well over a decade things weren’t even going well for her solo career before she did Big Brother. She’s probably still gonna be getting work in terms of gigs and what not especially if there’s other bandmates with her.

Somebody on Popjustice confirmed that it missed the Top 200 sad.gif

Posted by: PAJ Sep 5 2021, 05:32 AM

Posted by: diamondtooth Sep 5 2021, 12:53 PM

Posted by: dannjohn Sep 6 2021, 08:53 AM

for it to miss the top 100 means it must have sold about 300 copies?

QUOTE(dannjohn @ Sep 6 2021, 09:53 AM) *

With Love sold 784 copies overall last week, but the #200 sold 813 - so she missed out by 29 sales. sad.gif

She sold 596 physicals and 188 digital (which is a combination of downloads and streaming units - unfortunately I don't know the sales split between them)

What I do know is that on Thursday, when the album was midweek #148, it had sold 742 copies: that was 563 physicals (521 CDs & 42 cassettes) & 179 digital (150 downloads & 29 streaming units).

The problem for Jo is that the album chart is absolutely dominated by albums which are mostly there because of streaming, which can add hundreds of units per day.
