Really excited for this as I LOVED his last album!

It’s not released until January apparently?

Out today

The album has been pushed back to May 11.

Posted by: Theo. 4th January 2018, 08:49 PM

Not surprised that they've pushed it back. "How Long" hasn't been as big as I expected it to be and isn't really doing much in America despite being pushed to ACR already in the UK. However, "If You Leave Me Now" is a really bad song and it's so dated - not the song that he should be encouraging people to pre-order his album with! Hopefully the third single comes in mid April and sets up the album well.

Knew it

I don’t even think How Long is even finished peaking yet in the US

I mean I guess it could climb given that "Attention" took about 4 months to peak over there but it's definitely underperformed here in comparison.

They were both long-running hits that both peaked in the top 10 it didn’t underperform at all

"Attention" was in the top 40 for 18 consecutive weeks. "How Long" managed nine before bombing 19-out - I understand that ACR played a part (as did the influx of Christmas songs in the past month) but their longevity isn't comparable. We'll see if it climbs this week but I wouldn't say it's been anywhere near as successful as "Attention" and yes it has underperformed.

How Long certainly did not underperform

Posted by: JosephStyles 4th January 2018, 10:08 PM

I thought How Long would be bigger than it was so I guess it kinda did underperform but it still did well. ACR hit it at the earliest possible opportunity annoyingly, and the 19-x drop isn't unusual for ACR (it would've been much less without Christmas songs too, so it's deceiving). It did fine here and I guess there's still time in the US, he's the king of slow burners there!

Also: the new song is VERY "album track", which is fine as it's just an instant grat. I hope the third single is absolutely killer anyway, not that he's let me down on the singles front yet.

I think the December charts are a bit of an anomaly because the chart makes room for a ton of Christmas songs (especially during the last two weeks) and that ends up killing songs off/sending songs to ACR prematurely because they’re dropping/not able to compete in sales compared to the holiday overflow (Havana is another example). We’ll see how it does in the next few weeks.

He has released "Changes" with James Taylor, a tribute to the students of Parkland school and other victims of gun violence:

It's a nice song and tribute but I don't think he should have included it on the album.

Not really been a fan of anything of his from this era but 'Done For Me' is brilliant

Posted by: Cqmerqn 26th March 2018, 08:34 PM

So he has pretty much released the album already laugh.gif

Posted by: Frooot 26th March 2018, 10:57 PM

Not really a fan of this era in the slightest!

Posted by: Tombo 3rd April 2018, 06:48 AM

Change sounds really dull

Posted by: cqmisa 3rd April 2018, 08:39 AM

This era >>> previous era

Last era was to cheesy for me

"What I Am" is out now - he posted the artwork on Instagram, I imagine it's a promo cover for the track? wub.gif

It's really good, shows off something different to "Done for Me" - a shame it hasn't been as big as his previous two singles but I think it was too similar to "How Long" unfortunately.

Still, I'm looking forward to hearing the full album! Only a week to go.

That's the new album cover, he's been mentioning it a bit on social media already!

What I Am is a brilliant album opener, so excited for this to finally arrive.

That's weird, my Apple Music is still displaying the old one. Why have they changed it? I'm not complaining though as he looks beautiful wub.gif

I think iTunes/Apple Music are a little behind in updating it for now! No idea why they've changed it but I guess the album's been delayed 4 months now and they just wanted something fresher. Totally agree that he looks stunning on it wub.gif

I wonder if the CDs will have the new cover?

Posted by: Liаm 3rd May 2018, 10:58 PM

The Way I Am is a TUNE, this album is shaping up nicely!

Posted by: LeeWallace 3rd May 2018, 11:07 PM

He's lucky radio EAT HIM UP (Especially in the US) because it wouldn't surprise me if this campaign went wrong, he should have stuck with the original plan of releasing after 'How Long' because there's next to no hype for this album.

Posted by: HarryEzra 11th May 2018, 10:04 AM

BOY and Somebody Told Me are fab and the rest of the album is fab not as strong as his debut but I pretty good follow up cheer.gif

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 11th May 2018, 12:43 PM

That's the thing I hate about the current climate, these artists somehow make their campaign drag on for about a year until they actually release the album when in reality they'd have just been better off releasing it off the back of the first or second single?

Posted by: LeeWallace 11th May 2018, 12:52 PM

He should have released after 'How Long', I can see this album dropping at a rapid speed!

Posted by: JosephAvery 11th May 2018, 05:03 PM

The album wasn't even done until quite recently so releasing after How Long would've been quite difficult - that was the point of the pushback, not for any commercial reason for a change.

The Way I Am is a BOP
How Long was good too but I'm really getting into this one.

So much better than his first era which I couldn't STAND

Posted by: AllieCat17 16th May 2018, 04:24 PM

This album definitely echoes a whole lot of classic rock/pop in all the best ways. I feel like CP is great for getting older people into current music that way.

The Way I Am is so good, it is much better than his debut era stuff
