Well I knew it was coming but it's sad to see it confirmed sad.gif I've had so many happy memories because of them and even made a lot of friends because of them (not to mention being given my 2 seconds of fame because of them tongue.gif ) Over The Counter Culture will definitely go down with quite a few people as one of the most underated albums of this decade particularly me but after everything went downhill so much I'm glad Preston has got himself sorted and hopefully we shall see a good solo album from him this year. happy.gif

who cares. as soon as that prick went on big brother they became completly $h!te.

Posted by: coolnav 14th April 2008, 08:14 PM

Woah! Thats a bit harsh.

Their song after BB was good and the one with Lady Soverign was good too. Shame i suppose.

Posted by: ChapStick 14th April 2008, 09:05 PM

I'd rather listen to Mcfly than any song with Lady Soverign in.

Posted by: Simon. 14th April 2008, 09:11 PM

I really liked Lonely At The Top ohmy.gif

Posted by: Shameless 14th April 2008, 10:26 PM

expect a greatest hits then a solo preston album will follow i predict

Posted by: Emma-Electric 15th April 2008, 08:24 AM

I'm really sad, I loved Ordinary Boys.
Though a solo album from Preston will be good, it shouldn't sound too much different should it? I mean, he was the one who did all the singing anyway!

Posted by: Shameless 15th April 2008, 08:27 AM

some of the stuff was good but there albums never really took off sales wise

Posted by: richie 15th April 2008, 08:42 AM

Utter w***, zeitgeist-chasing sell-outs.

They split well over a year ago didn't they? This just means Preston's solo career is being planned meticulously by suits.

Posted by: chrisfishlock 15th April 2008, 08:45 AM

There first album was good, there second album was alright but then got ruined by the commercial success of BB, and the third was f***ing awful. If he never went on BB they would still be together making ska influenced music and i would still love them.

A Greatest Hits would be terrible, and a Sam Preston solo album would just be taking the p*** it would be so c**p.

Posted by: Damon 15th April 2008, 12:00 PM

Bit of a shame tbh, but the 3rd album was poor compared to the brilliant 1st and very good 2nd sad.gif

I remember buying Brassbound on the day he went into the BB house, didn't have a clue he was going in at the time either laugh.gif

Posted by: chrisfishlock 15th April 2008, 12:41 PM

i remember the tragicness of someone asking me if i liked The Ordinary Boys, and at the time i loved them so i replied saying i loved them and then i wa slike wait how the f*** do you know abut The Ordinary Boys, and they told me to shut up and i had only heard of them through Big Brother, i was just like, what the f*** about big brother, i didnt even know at the time he was on there, annoyed the hell out of me.

Posted by: SlimJim 15th April 2008, 05:05 PM

tis a shame ohmy.gif sad.gif really liked em, hopefully Preston can come out with some good solo material though thumbup.gif

i like the ordinary boys even tho most of my very snobby indie friends think they are just a $h!t pop group

well i'm quite surprised that, and seeing that the ting tings are in the pop section with all the bubblegum r&b, that the indie section hadnt kicked out a thread about the ordinary boys yet.

Yeah, I'm not surprised in the slightest by this, however, I only really liked their stuff post-Big Brother, for example, Lonely At The Top and 9 to 5 but they had potential but they wasted thier one opportunity.

CBB definetly was the final nail in the coffin, only the single sold well, the album still struggled even with the exposure.

TBH, a greatest hits would be pointless and, as others have mentioned, a solo album would be a really really bad idea!!!!

Cant say i care too much about this. They had a few good song though.

but who owns the rights to most of their material? if its Warners then i guess that a cheap Platinum Edition record would be out in a few weeks (seeing as the darkness ones already out) - if the rights have reverted to Universal (depending on whether they have bought B-Unique out-right) then i guess it would be sometime else

Posted by: Pip 27th April 2008, 07:09 PM

My thoughts pretty much echo what everyone else has said.

1. Who cares?
2. If they had stuck to their original style, and Preston had not sold his soul to the BB devil I am sure they would have been going strong. Their style was unique and there was a market for it.
3. Chantelle....WTF was all that about? That to me was the demise of Preston and his gang....
