Btw, the artist forum moderators are aware of what future rounds are so we get the final decision, so some songs that are raised here might be saved for future rounds.

We don't want to send any of the big ones just yet, but still needs to be a popular song to compete with the other forums.

For this round, we can choose any Kylie (or Dannii) song. It has to be something popular to compete with other forums, but we don't want to use anything we'll need for later stages when the competition gets more intense.

Some other rounds will have more specific themes.

I can reveal that there are 16 rounds in all, a lot of them themed, and I've worked out roughly what could be sent for each round. It seems like we could get away with sending something quite popular straight away... I'm thinking 'Confide in Me', 'Spinning Around', 'In My Arms'...

Agree with this - Love & Kisses is one for fans only I think. If we’re going to send anything from Dannii I think it needs to be from the Neon Nights era?

With these free choice rounds, it needs to be something people will immediately recognise and I think only 'Who Do You Love Now' and 'I Begin to Wonder' would. Maybe we can consider Dannii for some of the more specific rounds.

I'm pleased to see some 'Red Blooded Woman' fans here! I'm not sure if it would compete as well with the other AFs though.

'On a Night Like This' is too popular to send just now, I think, and 'Get Outta My Way' will be perfect in a certain round in the future...

My other choice would be 'Can't Get You Out of My Head', depending on if other AFs are sending really big singles. I think that would safely see us through as it's obviously the most recognised with casual fans and it leaves us with even more universally loved tracks for later.

CGYOMH can def be saved for a bit later, I don't think it's as polarising as the stronger opinions make it out. It'll get A LOT of casuals, won't it?

Glad to hear there's some 'Dancing' fans! Knowing what rounds are to come, 'Spinning Around' and 'Head' weren't in my plans for any of the future choices so they may as well be used now and I would have thought be much more comfortable choices than 'Dancing'.

Other AFs seem to be suggesting big choices, I'm not confident about how 'Dancing' will compete.

Like Liam said, obviously there are Kylie fans that don't exactly love Lost Without You, however it's one of the strongest and most adored from Golden and would be a great discovery for non-fans going through the playlist (assuming this round the playlist is going to be used more than any other). If we're going for an album track and using recency to our advantage, this would definitely be near the top of the list.

Out of not great choice’s I’d probably go with ‘Lost Without You’ I love some other songs but TIIL is probably too old, I guess LAD could work - I think all are risks though tbh but like has been said hopefully the Kylie fans will vote regardless of what gets selected

Fan loyalty, I don't dislike the song, as part of the Golden package, I feel it is one of the weaker songs on offer and average when compared to other Kylie songs.

'Fan loyalty' is precisely the problem here though. Most people will vote based on the quality of the songs before them, not because they blindly want to see their favourite artist(s) through to the next round while sending a song they don't have any faith in themselves. Trust that other people love the song enough to get it through to the next round; otherwise it really isn't fair on all of the other AFs participating.

I always vote kylie where I can out of loyalty, I see it no different to supporting a football on a bad season. In this case I genuinely think kylie is one of the better songs in there but I have often voted for confide in me out of loyalty despite not been a fan of the song

I feel like this isn’t the point of the competition though, if people are going to vote for an artist’s worst songs just because they want to see them through to the next round it does sort of remove the point of choosing the right songs for certain rounds.

Tbf I can imagine others are doing just the same. It's only clear here because pippa has openly expressed a dislike for the song, but there's not really any way to tell if everyone else is voting strictly on the merit of the songs themselves. It's also not out of the question that a song you're not a fan of by an artist you love could be rated higher than a song by an artist you don't really care for.

I have expressed as a Kylie song it is not her strongest.

This. It just takes the fun out of it if we're just seeing the big-name artists through round after round because people want to make sure they earn their loyal fan badge.


Not always. I can't speak for anybody else, but the current round definitely required listening to the playlist because I was unfamiliar with a lot of the songs sent, and as a result it's meant some of my more preferred artists have missed out because other songs were better. It doesn't mean I don't want to see my favourite artists through to the next round any less.


That's true, but I get the sense this is the only AF that has had so many people openly saying they'll vote for Kylie no matter what - it just sucks the fun out of it for everybody else at the end of the day. I get the feeling you could send something like I Was Gonna Cancel and we'd be in the same predicament.

Fan loyalty voting is happening with most whether people admit it or not.
That said, my votes in all the rounds to date have been allocated to what I truthfully think are the best songs.

I get your point too, it would be great if these things could be strictly on song quality but there's no way of making absolutely sure. It's like how one may tactically vote in a least favourite survivor or give a song a -1 even if you don't actually view it as harshly as that. I also think that when there's 50, 60, 70 voters, a couple of members blindly supporting their favourite artist doesn't make that much difference to the final score.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that fans of artists in other forums are not voting for their own artist.
There is no way of knowing but, I would again reiterate, Lost Without You is definitely one of the stronger songs on offer in this round we are currently voting in.
That may be down to familiarity as some of the others songs are new songs to me and many songs require multiple listens before becoming a fan of the song.

Been familiar with a song makes it easier in rounds like this.Some songs are not instant so some good songs will lose out in a round like this.

That is natural which is the risk with this round.
Not everyone will listen to all new songs at least 10 times before casting their votes.
There have been songs in the past that have taken months to grow on me.

I don’t understand why we would ever believe that fans who contribute mostly to their favourites AF forums on here would not vote for them? A quick scroll through the AF forums show multiple others doing the same.

‘Lost Without You’ is not my favourite Kylie song or even close but I streamed the songs from the playlist that I didn’t already know and it would still be in my Top 11 songs that I have voted for in this round due to some of the songs sent through being not something that I would ever listen to again or want to.

AF Idol is always going to be a challenge - last year Little Mix we’re accused of setting up multiple accounts to vote for them and now people are questioning others blindly voting for their favourites which as I said earlier most AF forums are doing, but with such a wide choice of songs and some questionable songs in this round LWY was and is a Top 11 for me.

Also I think it’s really unfair to single people out and flame them in the voting by posting things like ‘Not bad for a song you hate’?! As I said for me personally LWY is not a favourite but stands up against some of what’s been sent through so in this instance it’s easily a Top 11 song out of the choices available - had other songs been sent then maybe it would have been a different outcome.

Is that how we play the game from now on?! Search all the AF forums and if anyone posts anything remotely negative about the song we call them out on it in the voting thread?!

That’s all fair enough as far as I’m concerned at least, I was just concerned that people here were initially saying they would vote for songs they dislike because of ‘loyalty’. If people are voting for the song because they genuinely do prefer it to all the songs they aren’t voting for after listening to them then I don’t think that’s a problem at all.

It is a totally unfair comment posted in the thread and thank you for pointing it out.
The criteria requests 11 songs have to be selected when voting, some of the songs on offer I don't like but picked what was most appealing to me after a few listens.
Lost Without You, as I expressed in other threads, is not Kylie's best song on Golden or even close.
When the criteria states 11 songs, the result remains I voted for songs I would in other circumstances never vote for.

On the matter of "blindly voting for favourite artists" I do get that to some degree, a song you don't consider to be your favourite from an artist could still end up being a favourite in the round when it's mixed up with other artists.

It would be great if everyone would listen to the songs and rank them with no regard to the artists themselves but I think that's an impossible task as there will always be bias this way there is less bias though because you're forced to vote for other artists whereas when we had polls, you could've just voted for your favourite artist and noone else!

I think the biggest mess to come from this is: there are people out there that don't consider 'Lost Without You' to be a Kylie great!

This type of game will only work if the chart forum users post and vote. However when you have rounds where the casuals users on this site won’t know the songs , I assume the number of votes will be lower.

'All I See' is a great song, how was that so low! (Granted, it's the MIMS-featuring version I've always known, but I presume the original is the same minus him.)

I know 'I Was Gonna Cancel' is, like, poison ivy among her fans, but I always really liked it. It was my favourite single / song I heard from that album.

Refreshing myself on 'Celebration' and... yeah I'd agree with the person above who referred to it as a cheap and quick cover.

We could potentially be in this situation shortly.
For me to vote this song if it goes through would require some absolute awful songs from other forums.
Rudebox from Robbie Williams would be an example of a song worse than I Was Gonna Cancel or if the Madonna forum submitted Human Nature or songs from Madame X.
If All I See is submitted,it is a much different situation.

From personnel experience I agree.
I was singled out for my Lost Without You vote which I found to be unfair.
My previous comments on Lost Without You were comparative to the material offered elsewhere on Golden.
What I classify as a weak Kylie song can in some examples trump what is classed as a great song from another artist.

Despite being a huge Kylie fan I'm not really much of a fan of Your Disco Needs You, although it has grown on me a bit after seeing it at Pride last year, however it is a potential non-voter for me depending on the other tracks.

Flower on the other hand would be a sure fire vote it's one of my ultimate favourite Kylie tracks

It's a bit late, but have you looked at other options? Because I believe, since non-charting singles are now eligible, she has a bunch of possibilities including... 'It's No Secret', 'Turn It Into Love', 'Cowboy Style', some Christmas songs (?), 'Golden', 'A Lifetime To Repair', 'Music's Too Sad Without You' and 'New York City'.

I have no idea whether any of those would be more popular than 'Your Disco Needs You' though. I'm guessing probably not since although I feel like 'Your Disco Needs You' would struggle outside of her fanbase, the same probably applies to all those.

Personally though, I'm not really a fan of 'Your Disco Needs You', but I love 'A Lifetime To Repair' (single edit; it actually didn't stand out to me originally, but after the edit came out it grew to become my favourite song from the album), and I just gave 'Cowboy Style' a listen (as I've heard of it and knew it was bound to be interesting) and enjoyed it.

I had a check but none of them have the same popularity or a further reach than 'Your Disco Needs You'. It's hard to deny the overwhelming support there is for it despite concerns of how it'll be perceived outside the fanbase (I don't think it'll be affected that badly tbf and I can't see anyone being able to agree on just one of any of the other choices).

I love some of those songs but ‘It’s No Secret’ and ‘Turn It Into Love’ I think would struggle being 30+ year old essentially album tracks very much of their time.

‘Cowboy Style’ is an iconic Kylie moment from one of her best albums which could do well but I’m sure for many it would be the first time ever hearing it so could be a risk if they are more familiar with other songs.

Kylie's final releases usually seem to get overlooked by their much bigger preceding singles, so it's nice to see some appreciation being shown! Ultimately I figured that so many big favourites are being sent on other AFs so I chose the song that receives the most love here, since none of them were particularly big hits that would make obvious choices.

Probably not, I think 'Cowboy Style' only got an Australian release because Impossible Princess was actually successful there. It was probably a 'for the fans' release-type following the tour.

I'm here for the suggestion of Tightrope too though, it's so brilliant and I like the idea of people being introduced to such a gem - but it of course has its risks. It seems a lot of forums are leaning towards sending singles that fit the criteria.

I'm stumped as to what to go with. I feel like everyone will have different favourites.

'Where the Wild Roses Grow' and 'Especially for You' are pretty well-known Kylie collaborations but I don't think they would work well in this competition. There's 'Kids' too but that's pretty low regarded.

Perhaps this could be the time to go for a Dannii song? 'You Won't Forget About Me' or 'Who Do You Love Now' perhaps?

'Who Do You Love Now?' has quite a lot of exposure on BuzzJack as it was part of the mammoth 'One Hit Wonders of the Millennium' day in the chart forum and I think it was sent to a BJSC spin-off as well! Not sure how it would do but yeah it does have those factors ~

I thought 'Who Do You Love Now' would be our best shot at getting through but I was still anticipating a bottom 2 placing, so I'm thrilled that we made it!

I think a lot of people either forgot how good 'Who Do You Love Now' is or forgot about it completely. It was worth putting through for that recognition alone!

This round and the previous one were the ones I were most anxious about. Obviously I can't reveal the future rounds but I'm quite confident about the choices I have penciled in!
