 It's time. 242 songs. 4 decades.  Thank you to everyone that voted! The results will be presented by Liam and I over the course of the foreseeable future. Please get involved, comment, predict and discuss the songs as they come.  It's been a massive labour of love and has taken months to get the rates done but we're ready. I have briefly glanced at the results (they are currently being double checked to avoid any sort of error) and all I can say is... there are some SHOCKS and unexpected positions. Predict as we go along - it's going to be a fun ride ~

I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee 242. Autotune Baby // Rebel Heart // -0.154 241. Act of Contrition // Like A Prayer // 2.063 First out, was there any surprise? Autotune Baby crashes out with one of the lowest averages i've ever seen on an artist's rate Madonna pines to be someone's baby, wrapped up and tended to.. and there's autotune for some reason? Lmao. We also lose the jarring Act of Contrition that closes the Like A Prayer album is distorted and warped fashion. It's an interesting song to close such a soaring and at times tender album, but as a song on its own I can see why it isn't favoured here. I am genuinely shocked and confused and saddened that the woman that gave us Ray of Light thought that Autotune Baby, in any way shape of form would be worthy of inclusion on an album. Like she must have been in the studio SINGING ALONG TO THAT AND THINKING SOMETHING I DON'T GET IT.

 Only that could be last place. I was so bewildered by it! :')I found Act of Contrition to be a very abrasive listen. I feel like I was missing something by not "getting it", but maybe it being a harsh listening experience was the point? Idk, but it really threw me as the closing song on an otherwise fantastic album. I intend to listen to the songs again as they're revealed here... is this going to be Auto-Tune Baby's second and last ever play~

Autotune Baby is one of the worst things I've ever heard from a mainstream act. It's beyond awful and fully deserves its negative average. Jay - if you listen again it will be one more than I have ever done!
Act of Contrition isn't great. I guess there was a thing about acts using reverse play as a cool thing at one point in time and it feels very much like an attempt to have something artsy on Like a Prayer for the sake of it, I can listen to it but I don't massively enjoy it. |
