Aitch
Raw

2nd single from Polaris
Released: 21st May 2020
Label: NQ Records

Video

Biography

Quickly becoming one of the U.K.'s biggest rappers, New Moston-born Aitch rocketed to fame in the late 2010s after the success of viral freestyle "Straight Rhymez." After featuring on prolific U.K .hits like "Keisha & Becky" and "Strike a Pose," the charismatic MC took his own place on the U.K. charts with the wildly-popular hit "Taste (Make It Shake)" and EP AitcH20.

Born in New Moston, Manchester, British rapper Aitch (born Harrison Armstrong) began performing casually while he was still in school. After a series of freestyles drew attention from industry circles, the Manchester MC quickly signed to Northern Quarterz Entertainment, where he released 2017 debut EP On Your Marks. Combining effortless flows with tongue-in-cheek bars and a charismatic attitude, Aitch found his first major hit with 2018 freestyle "Straight Rhymez," which found an audience of millions on online streaming platforms. Capitalizing on this viral success, he shortly landed spots on Kenny Allstar's 1Extra radio residency and popular freestyle series Daily Duppy, winning a dedicated fanbase and earning co-signs from the likes of Skepta and Wiley.

In 2019, Aitch turned from 'one to watch' to a key player in the UK scene: his appearance on Russ Splash's viral "Keisha & Becky Remix" landed him a spot at no. 7 on the U.K. charts, while "Strike a Pose" with Young T & Bugsey peaked at a similar 9th spot. Bolstered by this success, Aitch made his first solo chart appearance with 2019's "Taste (Make It Shake)," which soon hit the no. 2 spot on the UK singles chart. Ahead of the release of sophomore EP AitcH20, the rapper secured his biggest placement to date, featuring alongside Stormzy and Jaykae on the remix to Ed Sheeran's "Take Me Back to London." The EP, boosted only further by Sheeran's co-sign, landed at no. 3 on the UK albums chart, with features from MoStack and ZieZie, among others

Fredo
Hickory Dickory Dock

3rd single from second studio album
Released: 22nd May 2020
Label: Since 93

Video

Biography

London-based MC Fredo focuses his lyrics on his drug-dealing lifestyle, the streets that he calls home, and all the money he's made. Hailing from London's infamously tough Mozart Estate, Fredo was considered one of the leading figures in the notorious London gang Harrow Road Boys. He practiced his craft as an MC for years before emerging in 2016 with the single "They Ain't 100." The track immediately gained attention, including a small co-sign when Drake featured the song in his 30th birthday mix on OVO Sound Radio. The same year, he released two further singles, "Trapspot" and "Pattern Gang," before appearing on Kojo Funds and Abra Cadabra's hit single "Dun Talkin (Remix)" alongside Yxng Bane, Frisco, and JME.

In 2017 Fredo elevated the hype he had already received, releasing his third single, "Get the Pot," early in the year, quickly followed by his debut appearance on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth. Both were in preparation for his debut mixtape, Get Rich or Get Recalled, which was released independently in March of that year. Fredo returned the following year with his second mixtape, Tables Turn, which featured collaborations with Not3s, Asco, and Kaos. That same year he also teamed up with South London's Dave for the single "Funky Friday." Hitting the top spot of the U.K. charts, the single propelled both MCs into the spotlight. At the beginning of 2019, Fredo delivered his proper debut album, Third Avenue. The Universal release saw him working once again with Dave, as well as Lil Dotz, on a collection of deftly produced trap cuts.

Afternoon all hi.gif back to not being able to listen live again but hoping for Gaga and Ariana at #1 (if my BuzzJack layout wasn't enough of a giveaway kink.gif)

Retro top 3s:

2019
01. Billie Eilish - bad guy
02. Ed Sheeran - Cross Me (feat. Chance The Rapper and PnB Rock)
03. Lil Nas X - Old Town Road

A top 10 hit is nothing to sniff at of course but 'Cross Me' was so slept on by Ed Sheeran standards! Definitely the most interesting song from that project.

2015
01. Galantis - Runaway (U & I)
02. Taylor Swift - Bad Blood (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
03. Major Lazer & DJ Snake - Lean On (feat. MØ)

No change! That Jason Derulo song at #1 was so bland oops.

2010
01. Edward Maya - Stereo Love (feat. Vika Jigulina)
02. Roll Deep - Good Times
03. Aggro Santos - Candy (feat. Kimberly Wyatt)

No change again! Although Eminem was not far off, a strong comeback.

2005
01. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc
02. Black Eyed Peas - Don't Phunk With My Heart
03. Audio Bullys - Shot You Down (feat. Nancy Sinatra)

That Audio Bullys version of 'Shot You Down' is SO good. We do not speak of the David Guetta mess that came later on x

2000
01. Sonique - It Feels So Good
02. Britney Spears - Oops!...I Did It Again
03. Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby

Those sales for Sonique are eye-watering ohmy.gif what a second wind after initially charting much lower! One of the most euphoric dance songs ever wub.gif

Sia had a top 10 in 2000?!

that seems to surprise everyone when they see it for the first time, the song is totally forgotten now too. laugh.gif
and she didn't have another top 40 hit until Titanium! [although she was an uncredited feature on the Zero 7 #30 hit 'Destiny' in 2001]
