Holland-Oats
The Great Cereal Nation

Welcome to the grand cereal nation of Holland-Oats, renowned for our mass production of Buzzjack's finest oatmeal and the latest nation to be recognized in the Buzzjack Song Contest! Holland-Oats was formerly known only as an extremely large and highly populated cereal distributor, providing the world with the highest quality oat-based breakfast foods known to man! Now, following a highly controversial nation-wide vote, Holland-Oats has declared it's independence as a nation on the world stage. Our nation capital is Sarasmile and is the largest city in Holland-Oats with a booming population of 3,111,976! The total population of our entire nation is approximately 40 million, shared over six large cities. The current President/CCC (Chief Cereal Commander) of Holland-Oats is Franklin Hohl whilst his Vice President/VCCC (Vice Chief Cereal Commander) is William Oates. The official and most commonly spoken language in Holland-Oats is English, however other languages are also prominent are Dutch, Italian and Soft Rock.

An expansive railway system weaves throughout the nation, frequently used for the transportation of grains to and from the major cities. However this same railroad is also used for the world-famous Love Train, advertised as a Method Of Modern Love although is mostly used by Italian Girls and Family Men. The "Private Eyes" Railway connects the six largest cities of Holland-Oats: Sarasmile, Red Ledge, Camellia, New Philadelphia, Rich Girl City, and Dextown. In the fast-growing nation of Holland-Oats, Dextown is the former capital of Holland-Oats and only recently passed on the title of capital to Sarasmile to accommodate growth. Despite being located at opposite ends of the Private Eyes Railway and was expected to take weeks to transfer goods and services required for the capital from Dextown to Sarasmile, the administrative heads of Sarasmile Did It In A Minute!

Coincidentally the national anthem of Holland-Oats, as was voted by the public in an overwhelming 99.7% landslide victory back in 1982, is Maneater by Daryl Hall & John Oates. Disclaimer: The similarities between the artists of the national anthem and Holland-Oats name, as well as it's founders, were not noted by the public until 2018.

Cereals Of Holland-Oats

The primary export of Holland-Oats is, of course, oat-based cereals, with at least fourteen cereals being named after the President and Vice President of Holland-Oats themselves. Oats grown form our luscious fields account for 73% of a Holland-Oatian's diet, with over half of that diet consisting of various cereals!

Lucky Oates
Our most popular cereal are the scrumptious Lucky Oates! Made from 100% Holland-Oat-grown oats, Lucky Oates are deliciously oaty and are adored by the entire nation. They are the personal favourite cereal of Vice Chief Cereal Commander William Oates who eats three bowls of Lucky Oates each morning. Rumour has it he has collected over 40,000 Jaguar key chains over the years and stores each and every one of them in a hidden room in his mansion! Whilst some say he has a bit of a Possession Obsession, the Jaguar key chains sure are worth it![/font]

fyi I am embarrassingly proud of that cereal box

Welcome from South Danaelanda!

Lucky Oates sell in only small quantities here due to the ever popular You Don't Know Me brand, which is recommended by the government as part of a healthy breakfast for being a good source of Vitamin G.

Welcome to the contest Holland-Oats (I enjoy that pun way too much), from Jadakissnia hi.gif I really like your debut, particularly the "I could be looking for you" / "I could be missing on you" parts, as they remind me of Bon Iver's "Could be lookin' at you" line in 'Friends' by Francis & The Lights and I love that song haha. Fingers crossed for a debut qualification!

BJSC 101

Holland-Oats made our debut appearance in the Buzzjack Song Contest this month with Morgan Saint's YOU! She was looking for you, missing for you, but alas did not qualify for you and came second-last in our Semi 2 Qualifier. Perhaps not a typical BJSC entry, yet a sweet and slightly haunting song with vocals to remember. Morgan Saint's accompanying music video for YOU is equally emotive complete with brilliant choreography by Morgan herself.

Holland-Oats extends huge gratitudes to those who voted for us in the Semi Final!

Hmm... the typical Holland-Oatian does suffer from a Vitamin G deficiency... perhaps we should begin importing You Don't Know Me for the good of our people...

What pun? happy.gif Shame we didn't qualify but yay for BINARY getting through (all caps songs ftw), I have high hopes for Jadakissnia in the final! I actually hadn't heard that Francis & The Lights song before now but I do see the comparison and quite like the song, I liked the Chance the Rapper version of May I Have This Dance last year too though dance.gif

Hey! I love "You" (that's weird to say) and had no idea it was entered in BJSC until today! (It was going to be a future entry of mine, oops kink.gif (but this was after you had sent it so it was totally my error, lol)) If we had been in the same semifinal I'd definitely have given it high points wub.gif Alas it's not the kind of song that tends to do well, Morgan reminds me of the likes of Anna Of The North and Emilie Nicolas who are both rather floppy in this contest as well. sad.gif

Holland-Oats is celebrating qualifying for the first time with Vera Blue's Regular Touch! Placing at a low yet still respectable 28th out of 37! The single came to the attention of our nations music directors after placing 15th in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2017 amongst other Australian artists such as Pnau, Vance Joy, Peking Duk, Baker Boy, Gang of Youths, and many many more~

Holland-Oats extends huge gratitude to those who voted for us in the Final, giving us our highest (and only) peak to date! Also a big fat thank you to Jupiterdonia for the +18 wub.gif wub.gif

Our fifth total entry is from local Australian band Client Liaison, with World Of Our Love! It’s our oldest entry to date but still only dates back to 2016-2017 tongue.gif There’s lots of tough opponents in our semi but H-O has high hopes this month (higher than last months anyway)

At least someone's further behind on their thread than me xx (oops)

Really baffled as to how The Aston Shuffle wasn't a bigger hit tbh! (I know I didn't help by not voting for it etc. but it was a v good final xx)

I agree tbh. Regular Touch was amazing at first but I haven't listened to it at all in the last 6+ months laugh.gif Tear It Down was a banger too but kinda old so it didn't really fit?

Low key annoyed I didn't come 33rd though kink.gif

Petit Biscuit is a French DJ and music producer and Skott is a Swedish musician, singer, songwriter, and producer... this may be the end of mostly Australian entries wink.gif
