It's 20 years since Pet Shop Boys released their seventh studio album Nightlife which features the Kylie collaboration 'In Denial'. Kylie was then out of a record contract but soon after signed up to Pet Shop Boys' record company Parlophone. Pet Shop Boys had previously penned 'Falling' for Kylie's 1994 self-titled album and would later write for her 10th album X, although their songs were rejected. In 2005, Kylie sang an extract of 'In Denial' for her Showgirl tour: 20 years on, what are your thoughts on 'In Denial'? |

Love this song and really wished it was a single, it's one of my fave kylie duets.

Such a special and important, meaningful song for me.
It was there for me at the point in my life when I was discovering and coming to terms with my sexuality, I related to it then and have done at various points in my life since. |

In Denial is glorious. The strings and a choir effect over the chorus make the hairs on the back of myneck stand up.
A song that was wasted but so welcoming that Kylie performed it on the tour. Certainly a song that should be on the Step Back in Time Collection. |

I'm currently listening a lot to Pet Shop Boys music again and wondered what if they had released "In Denial" instead "You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk" as third single from "Nightlife". I think it wouldn't have worked for both, Kylie and Pet Shop Boys. PSB were on downward spiral in sales, so they had to release songs that got airplay and I don't think "In Denial" would have gotten that. For Kylie, it was better to have a comeback all on her own a year later.

Both, The Pet Shop Boys and Kylie were on a downward trajectory but both as single units could sell enough for a Top 20 hit. The combined fanbase may have helped In Denial into the top 10 and safely Top 15 as the song was strong and i felt the song was radio friendly. I think there were some plans in place for this to become a single at 1 point. |

It's a really lovely track. Lyrically great as Neil Tennant often is and they both suit the track really well - as others have said, the production is beautiful at times.

I would like the Pet Shop Boys to return to this style of sound or that from Nightlife.
It is possible Kylie and the Pet Shop Boys could work together again in the future. |

Def should have a single as this and red letter day are by far the best 2 tracks from nightlife.

I dont overly know the Nightlife album by The Pet Shop Boys but from the singles released from the album, In Denial is better than them.

Nightlife isnt a bad album at all but in denial is one if the bug highlights from it.

I still would have loved to have had a CD single of in denial or for it be on a kylie album, it's a song that wouldnt be known to a big audience which is a shame as it's such a good song.

The cd single would be greatly welcomed in the collection as it would be a Kylie item rather than a Kylie track sitting on a Pet Shop Boys album.

Ya it's very lost among kylies work as it's not on anything official released directly by kylie.

In Denial would have matched it with slightly more longevity.

I think in denial would have done better as the kylie fans would have bought it too.
