Top points - AH Gold 16,miichaelking21 9,Liam 8

From 1964,this is the best selling single by a female singer in the 1960s. The original version was a hit for Dionne Warwick in the US and this cover was intended for Shirley Bassey but George Martin gave it to Cilla instead.

48. Art Garfunkel - Bright Eyes 44 pts

Writer - Mike Batt
Top points - Chez Wombat 24,King Rollo 20

This is one of the most beautiful songs to get to no.1 and should really have received more than two votes. It was the best selling single of 1979 and spent six weeks at the top of the chart. Mike Batt is best known for writing and singing several hits by The Wombles,he also wrote 'A Winter's Tale' for David Essex. This was the second of two solo no.1s for Art Garfunkel. He had no other top 30 singles.

Chez, your scores didn't change which songs qualified so I will be able to include your vote. smile.gif

Thank you!

I'm glad I at least gave Bright Eyes a boost but what a DISGRACE at that position, one of the saddest, beautiful songs ever sad.gif

45. Culture Club - Do You Really Want To Hurt Me 92pts

Writers - Roy Hay,Boy George,Mikey Craig,Jon Moss
Top points - AH Gold 25,Jester 16,Chapman 13,marcinjaro 13

Boy George created quite a media stir when he first performed this song on Top Of The Pops. It wasn't the group's first single, their first two failed to reach the top 75 and this was their last chance to get an album deal. It's a mixture of several different musical styles and certainly much better than their other no.1 'Karma Chameleon'.

43. Aretha Franklin & George Michael - I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) 98pts

Writers - Simon Climie,Dennis Morgan
Top points - AaronTM 21,marcinjaro 21,Chapman 15

Aretha's only no.1 single, her previous chart peak was no.4 with 'I Say A Little Prayer' in 1968. It's a rare example of a George Michael song that he wasn't involved in writing.

39. Nizlopi - JCB 123pts

Writers - Luke Concannon,John Parker
Top points - Wall 23,JackJones 21,dobbo 20

I wasn't expecting this to be from 2005,I thought it would be more recent than that. It reached no.1 a week before Christmas and was denied the Christmas no.1 by Shayne Ward's 'That's My Goal'. Nizlopi were a duo named after a Hungarian girl one of them had a crush on at school. They have since split up,reformed and split up again.

38. Ariana Grande - Thank U,Next 123pts

Writers - Ariana Grande,Victoria Monet,Tayla Parx,Njomza Vitia,Kimberly Krysiuk,Tommy Brown,Michael Foster,Charles Anderson
Top points - ready for it 18,Aaron TM 18,miichaelking21 16

Ariana may be very popular on Buzzjack but she only finishes 38th here. I think most of you prefer her earlier songs to her more recent no.1s. This is only the second time I have heard this song and the first time I have watched the video. 'Thank U,Next' wins a tie-break over the JCB song by 11 votes to 10.

A timeless classic and the second of three no.1 singles for 10cc. The multi-tracked backing vocals using a total of 144 different tape loops made the production of the song unlike anything that had been heard before.
