AS ABOVE SO BELOW
Synopsis Miles of twisting catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, the eternal home to countless souls. When a team of explorers ventures into the uncharted maze of bones, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead. A journey into madness and terror, As Above, So Below reaches deep into the human psyche to reveal the personal demons that come back to haunt us all. Personal Review Rating: Watch Again? Maybe, Probably First Time Watching? Yes Do I Recommend? Yes I have been meaning to watch As Above, So Below for a long time now as I loved the cinema. I obviously couldn't see it in the cinema as it was a 15 so I got it in DVD and finally got around to watching it today. I absolutely loved it and would rank it as my 2nd favourite horror movie ever [just behind the ring and just better than insidious and both of the purges]. This was interesting, clever, highly entertaining and actually really scary- I woke up nearly everyone in my house as I screamed so loudly at the 2nd death. I also thought the ending was good and it built up tension very well and the male lead was also pretty hot which is always a plus of course. The movie managed to have so many scares as well especially towards the end and it came together really well towards the end with the Repenting things and the child linking to an earlier death etc. I would definitely recommend this movie. |

DEVIL'S DUE
Synopsis After a mysterious, lost night on their honeymoon, a newlywed couple finds themselves dealing with an earlier-than-planned pregnancy. While recording everything for posterity, the husband begins to notice odd behavior in his wife that they initially write off to nerves, but, as the months pass, it becomes evident that the dark changes to her body and mind have a much more sinister origin. Personal Review Rating: Watch Again? Probably Not First Time Watching? Yes Do I Recommend? Would watch but don't rush out to see it Devil's Due wasn't like any horror movie I have seen before as the weakest part was the middle and the best part was the beginning. Every other film has had it's weakest part at the start or the end. One of the reason's I would rate devil's due a 6/10 is because the characters and acting are really good- the lead 2 are both really good and the man is so bloody hot and they worked well together. However this was not scary one bit and the scares were so bloody laughable such as when Samantha smashed the car so randomly after nearly getting ran over. The beginning is really interesting and so good, the middle is weird and boring and the end mostly brings it back to its prime as it is scary though it did feel so so much like Paranormal Activity at times. The last minute though is so disappointing as we don't get to find out what happened to Zach after being accused of his wife and child's murder and so randomly going to a new case. However it was still enjoyable and I would watch it. |
