Swiftly following on from April's pressing of 'Oops!... I Did It Again', Urban Outfitters have also pressed 'Britney' and it's out in just 10 days!
Vinyl released 24th May 2019 There's a limited run of 5000 copies, and the vinyl itself will be opaque white vinyl with a yellow swirl. https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/britne...mp;type=REGULAR *.* This makes me wonder whether they intend to press every studio album in quick succession? There was an 18 month gap between '...Baby One More Time' and 'Oops!... I Did It Again' releases, but only one month between Oops and 'Britney'. Like the last two albums, the track list is the original US standard version: QUOTE 1. I'm a Slave 4 U
2. Overprotected (Album Version (Radio Edit)) 3. Lonely 4. I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman 5. Boys (Album Version) 6. Anticipating 7. I Love Rock 'N' Roll (Album Version) 8. Cinderella 9. Let Me Be 10. Bombastic Love 11. That's Where You Take Me 12. What It's Like to Be Me This post has been edited by Nick F1: 5th November 2020, 08:52 PM |

This album
I'd rather they waited for anniversaries before they issued them, but I guess they're striking whilst the iron is very clearly hot! |

I have been listening to so much Britney recently and it's this album that has grown on me / hit me the most. I have always ignored it more than others because the singles from it aren't my favourite, but as an album it's one of her best???

Agreed! It's very under appreciated! I think apart from Slave and Overprotected, it's her worst singles campaign from an album, imo!

I've enjoyed Slave4U (duh), Overprotected and Boys.
I would replace Not A Girl and ILRNR with Lonely and Bombastic Love |

Choosing 'I Love Rock N Roll' over 'Cinderella' as a single has got to be the biggest WTF moment in pop history?

I guess the logic to go with 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll' was its usage in the Crossroads movie, with the single's European release in May 2002 not being too long after the movie was showing in cinemas. By the time it was released as a single in the UK in November 2002, it came off the back of the VHS/DVD release. The cross-promotion must have seemed like a no brainer to her label, but ultimately the single didn't do very well anyway... oop.
It also didn't do any justice at all in showcasing what the 'Britney' album had to offer. Apart from 'Overprotected' and 'I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman', the singles run doesn't make it too obvious that the album contains a number of songs that don't stray too far away from some of the 'Oops!' album tracks. The UK seemed a bit cold towards 'Britney'. Its initial run of 4-20-36-47-53-58 off the back of 'I'm a Slave 4 U' was pretty shocking, following two albums that spent multiple weeks in the Top 10/20... evidently 'Britney' wasn't one of Q4 2001's most desirable albums. Interestingly 'Overprotected' didn't do much to turn things around, with the album only re-entering the Top 20 for one week (at #19) during that single's release. 'I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman' revived it the best, with a five week return to the Top 20 and a high of #10. The album fell out of the Top 100 between the releases of 'Girl' and 'Boys'. 'Boys' only pushed the album back up to #55. In the months between 'Boys' and 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll', the album left the Top 200. 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll' failed to help 'Britney' return to the Top 100 (it managed #116). The album left the Top 200 at the start of December 2002, so evidently it missed out on doing well in the Christmas 2002 period. In 2001 it was the 105th best selling album of the year with 158,190 sales, while in 2002 it was the 79th best seller (not sure how many sales, 79th in 2001 sold 217,010 though, so maybe around that much). These sales don't look too bad nowadays, but at the time they weren't stellar. |

I can’t remember the last time I listened to this as a whole album.
I’m feeling like revisiting what I’d call peak Britney this week though. (I need to rank her albums as I never really know my overall favourite by her). Overprotected from this remains one of her all time best though. This post has been edited by Jordan Lee: 31st March 2020, 12:28 PM |

Im listening to this now.
Lonely Cinderella and Bombastic Love My non singles holy trinity! Definitely stronger than Oops I Did It Again and her debut as an album. Such progression! She really was such a good popstar during this stage in her career though. I think this is perhaps slept on a little as an album but there’s no real duds on here just questionable single choices. Boys and I Love Rock and Roll literally being the worst tracks on the album yet getting single pushes is a choice. When I Found You is also an anthem! And Before The Goodbye. Also If U Seek Amy will be over 100 million in 2 days
Her 23rd (24th including features)!!! And that leaves only about 13 or 14 videos out of her singles discography below 100 million views. Amazing feature considering she's way past her prime tbh. Her legacy lives on!!! |
