omg !!

Posted by: Joe. Mar 9 2018, 04:09 PM

You can hear a bit of it here and it sounds like a genuine bop! https://t.co/tVSHOyRNrE

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 04:16 PM

the cover art wub.gif i hope this can be a hit for her whats the odds?

Posted by: Joe. Mar 9 2018, 04:18 PM

She's having a big rebrand by the looks of things. I have faith if Syco push it like we know they can when they're not being lazy AF they can make it a hit. Louisa is a really easily marketable popstar with the right music.

Posted by: Jack Mar 9 2018, 04:21 PM

SCREAMING.

Come the f*** through Louisa. I'm really rooting for her too, she has such an infectious personality on social media wub.gif.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 04:30 PM

So i'm guessing this is the 1st single of the album, i hope the album comes this year cheer.gif also love the rebrand also i hope 2 chainz verse is good because this could smash

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 05:01 PM

where do you think this will end up charting?

No idea. It depends on airplay, promo, if she’s gets Spotify support and of course the song. I definitely wouldn’t rule out a hit or a flop.

Posted by: Cqmerqn Mar 9 2018, 05:17 PM

Wtf!!! laugh.gif

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 05:18 PM

She's on Lorraine next Friday i think, and Radio 1 will get on board hopefully mellow.gif and the music video has been filmed so if R1 gets on board quickly, the music vid is released next friday and she get's a good start on spotify it could debut top 10

Posted by: Cqmerqn Mar 9 2018, 05:20 PM

At least they’ve finally dropped ‘Johnson’

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 05:25 PM

when do you guys think the album will be out?

Posted by: RobBob Mar 9 2018, 05:29 PM

I’m really crossing everything this is gonna pop off and subsequently be some kind of hit for her. Glad they’re not just giving up, Best Behaviour still deserves justice 💔

Posted by: Cqmerqn Mar 9 2018, 05:32 PM

This sounds huge!!

Posted by: Tombo Mar 9 2018, 05:44 PM

I hope she is still credited as Louisa Johnson otherwise it's gonna f--- up my last.fm

Posted by: Midge Mar 9 2018, 05:50 PM

Yes, that was a huge problem. Now she can be like Cher, Madonna, Eminem and Bono.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 06:02 PM

i'm gonna take a wild guess and say this will go top 3

Posted by: Jonjo Mar 9 2018, 06:35 PM

YES YES YES YES YES indeed!!!

I really want this to be big for her!

Posted by: Botchia Mar 9 2018, 06:40 PM

Omg shook

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 06:45 PM

i hope the video is outstanding and can beat her most viewed video which is so good at 17m

Posted by: Cqmerqn Mar 9 2018, 07:18 PM

You can just tell that this is going to be an iconic bop

Posted by: pippa Mar 9 2018, 07:28 PM

She needs a hit from this. She is at the make or break stage so i hope it goes well for her.

Have Syco finally changed tactic and have come to the realization that artists need time and if Louisa can turn in some success it may benefit future acts on the label.

Posted by: Cameron Mar 9 2018, 09:56 PM

YES

(no pun intended)

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 09:59 PM

i hope this can be a smash hit she and everyone has been waiting for also where is the snippet of the song everyone's been saying about? link?

Posted by: BridgeCow Mar 9 2018, 10:00 PM

Why can I actually see her getting a hit now

Posted by: Mack. Mar 9 2018, 10:18 PM

Looking forward to this collaboration. Could be a hit for her.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 9 2018, 10:33 PM

i know!, it looks like they are rebranding her and this is the first single from the album happy.gif if this does good maybe she could get bigger names for the album

Posted by: Dexton Mar 10 2018, 01:02 AM

Excited for a 2 Chainz feature, I wonder how much that cost her label tongue.gif

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Mar 10 2018, 02:11 AM

I was about to say 2 Chainz is a scoop for her, but when did we actually last hear of him? laugh.gif

I like Louisa though, I want her to come through against all odds!

Why can I actually see her getting a hit now

Well she has had 2 hits already!

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 08:37 AM

i hope there are more features on the album but if they give her a single 2 i want it to be solo and i can only see her getting 3 singles from this album so i hope they all do extremely well like Little Mix's Glory Days era happy.gif but i will be happy with one top ten hit and then two top 20's dance.gif

Posted by: Bjork Mar 10 2018, 08:58 AM

anyone has a link that works to the snippet?

Take a look back at the thread and you’ll find it....

Posted by: Joe. Mar 10 2018, 09:11 AM

2 Chianz haven’t done anything for a while but the feature will still help the song on streaming if it’s good I assume?

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 09:28 AM

yeah it should, does he have any successful songs though?

Well...yes.... although tbf he's not actually as huge as I thought having a look at his discography. He's had a #1 before though and is a fairly well known name, she'll get curious streams at least tongue.gif

But how long ago was this #1?

Posted by: Bjork Mar 10 2018, 10:11 AM

the occ describes it as a very christina aguilera song, like a mix of dirrty and the burlesque soundtrack...

It was Talk Dirty with Jason Derulo then he also had a Top 10 hit with 'We Own It (Fast & Furious)'.

I don't think it'll matter too much who the rapper is really, for example on 'Work From Home', the rapper could have been anyone and it still would've got the same levels of success.

It worked for me yesterday

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 10:41 AM

i tried it earlier and it said the twitter account was suspended probably because it was exclusive to Lorraine, i'm quite surprised SyCo is keeping this secret and all of the teaser trailers on Instagram and Twitter laugh.gif and a feature! They really must see potential because she hasn't been dropped yet, SyCo doing things right for once all we need now is LM promo in America and a tour there, also how many acts are currently successful that are signed with SyCo

Posted by: Jack Mar 10 2018, 10:46 AM

Doesn't the winner also have a contract that they have to release an album? That's probably playing a part to it as well.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 10:57 AM

probably laugh.gif but i hope the album is a self titled one

Posted by: Cqmerqn Mar 10 2018, 11:16 AM

It’ll be called ‘Louisa’ I reckon.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 11:32 AM

hope so yahoo.gif i just cant get over how she looks on the single cover wub.gif also the text on the side suggests she has done a rebranding, also it looks like they've put more effort into the cover because last time she got put on a swing

I think loads of people in history have signed a contract to release an album, but it never ended up materialising. tongue.gif

Posted by: Jüpiter Mar 10 2018, 11:59 AM

Honestly surprised how many people care. I found her actively dislikeable on XF and unremarkable since.
Not saying you all shouldn't mind, just surprised that people have been won over. It's possible I missed something that changed things. Intrigued to hear the song in any case.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 12:01 PM

but i feel SyCo is putting in effort to release her album because why would they get a rapper pay them money and waste time not promoting it? (NMSS is the exception but that did well despite no promo tongue.gif )

Posted by: Jonjo Mar 10 2018, 12:11 PM

She was by far the highlight of her series for me. Admittedly it was def one of the weakest years for XF talent - probs only being usurped by Sam Bailey's year overall. But I felt she was a pop star pretty much from her first audition.

I also appreciate Syco so much for giving her an actual shot. I feel like they really believe in her, coz what was to stop them from doing a Matt Terry and releasing a realitively weak effort with no care at all.

Tbh, I actually think Dua's career trajectory has prevented labels from giving up so soon and being too quick to release their acts. Not that Dua was unsuccessful beforehand, but I feel like Louisa was in a very similar position, getting hits but not to expectations, with a huge misfire (Best Behaviour/Lost In Your Light, for Dua) included.

It's frustrating coz the one time Syco take a risk and give one of their winners riskier pop to launch with, it ends up not doing so well. sad.gif

But I feel like there's a surprising amount of hype with this. Maybe it's my social media circles, but if it is the banger people think/expect it to be, I see no reason as to why it can't be huge. Just depends if the label are willing to spend the money for big spots on playlists for her!

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 12:18 PM

this better take off on spotify because streaming takes a huge effect on the charts and you need streaming to chart high and i get what your saying about Dua Lipa i didn't know who she was until New Rules was released as a single and i think that is what made her a worldwide success, it's surprising how much she turned the album campaign around happy.gif

On social media she has such an infectious / likeable personality and 'Best Behaviour' was honestly one of my favourite songs last year. She's also a bit of an underdog so I think that's why we're all rooting for her!

Depends on...

• Radio
• Hot Hits
• Promo

If she has all three for debut week, then I’d say top 40 for sure.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 12:40 PM

She has Lorraine next week and i'm sure there's some more promo
Spotify will hopefully get off to a good start
Radio um i am not sure about that mellow.gif

Posted by: Cqmerqn Mar 10 2018, 12:48 PM

Capital will spam it I’m sure

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 01:06 PM

Okay that's good how much does radio effect the UK charts, surely not as much as the US huh.gif

Posted by: Cqmerqn Mar 10 2018, 01:15 PM

Well it influences people to buy/listen to the song.. radio isn’t counted in the U.K. chart

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 10 2018, 01:25 PM

okay happy.gif well if she can get a good start on itunes and spotify and get some promo she will be fine

I also think Capital will hammer it like they did Best Behaviour.

The 2 Chainz feature will definitely help the song chart wise. It’ll be more streaming friendly. Unfortunately it seems Female-only tracks seem to struggle on Spotify (except Dua Lipa obvs).

I’m not going to post in this thread anymore until it’s released laugh.gif

I agree with the feature helping chart wise and it will do better on streaming because people seem to love rappers on pop songs tongue.gif

QUOTE
Hello Louisa! What’s happening?

Well, I’ve got a fan gig on Thursday so I’ve been rehearsing. It’ll be the first play of the new song! It’s very exciting.

What if they don’t like it?

Oh God! Well, I’m pretty positive they’ll like it…

AS YOU SHOULD BE because this track is very, very strong.

I’m very excited about it. We’ve been holding it back for a long time so it’s about bloody time we get it out there.

Just to be clear, I’m not just saying it’s good in the way journalists always say the new single’s good at the start of an interview before moving on to proper questions. It’s important that we’re on the same page here, this is a really good single.

Thank you!

When and where did the song happen? What’s the story?

I’d come back from a holiday and I was feeling creative and inspired, as you do when you come back from holiday, and I was getting back into the studio. I went for dinner with Camille, who’s done loads of stuff for Little Mix but has also been a good friend since I was in X Factor. And we went, “oh, f*** it, let’s just get drunk.” Which we did. And then we spoke about everything we wanted to put into a song! It just happened! I blurted out everything I wanted to say, the style of music, the beat, everything. Then she went into the studio and came up with this amazing song.

You see people say alcohol’s bad for you but when it saves your career it can only be a good thing, right?

Well it worked out alright for me!

At what point in your conversation with Camille did you use the words ‘Christina’, ‘Aguilera’ and ‘dirrty’?

WELL. I’ve always loved Christina and I’ve always loved that song. That song just makes you want to take your clothes off! At the moment there’s nothing that makes me want to strip. And I wanted something that made me feel sexy and empowered. I wanted a big song! I wanted to have a big sing! I said to Camille, ‘I want to be a Christina, not a Britney’.

CAREFUL!

(Laughs) Yeah, I know, right? But you know what I mean.

If you were Syco would you have given this song to you, or would you have kept it for Little Mix?

Oh my God I WOULD HAVE KEPT IT! Yes! YES! I’m not giving this away for nothing!

What’s 2 Chainz doing on this track? Has he been wanting to work with you for a long time or did you just chuck him some cash?

(Laughs) Well I put the song out to a couple of rappers — we were quite careful with who we picked. We wanted someone iconic and I think he’s pretty up there with some of the best rappers. I felt really lucky when he came back and said he liked the song. He was the first who came back and we decided to go with him because… Well, he was the first to come back and say he liked the song.

The single’s a bit like being punched in the face. What’s happening in the video?

I’m not sure how much I’m supposed to give away but I’ll just tell you anyway: it’s a big party which starts off like a very classy and sophisticated dinner party. Then I come in and dance on the table, and the video loops around three times and each time the party gets worse and worse and there are fewer and fewer clothes.

They're certainly hyping this up...a lot. I feel like anything less than 11/10 is going to be a disappointment,

Posted by: RobBob Mar 14 2018, 04:15 PM

I am loving everything I'm reading about this, I am so hyped.

I also love how un-media trained she always seems, for an X Factor winner, I particularly laughed at: "He was the first who came back and we decided to go with him because… Well, he was the first to come back!" laugh.gif

"if Yes isn’t a hit you might as well pack up and go home. Like, if it’s not going to happen with this you may as well just get a proper job."

This is actually better than I was expecting, reminds me a bit of early 00's girl groups. But at the same time it's very much a solo single and she shines on this laugh.gif 2 Chainz is a welcome addition too. Might prefer this to Best Behaviour kink.gif

It's an ABSOLUTE TUNE But sadly it sounds so dated I can't see it doing well at all.

Posted by: kye Mar 15 2018, 03:32 PM

i love this - but all i hear is 'when i grow up'.
not hearing xtina at all. maybe a little bit of 'express' in the chorus but they're not even melodically the same.

PopJustice are usually diabolical with their descriptions, I never listen to them anymore.

Can't listen to it yet, but after this comparison I'm slightly fearful. unsure.gif

Posted by: pes Mar 15 2018, 04:09 PM

I like it..it's a dated sound tho so I do not know how it could perform on the streaming platform once the payola is over

Posted by: Cqmerqn Mar 15 2018, 04:16 PM

It IS very dated but it’s still a banger!

Posted by: Joe. Mar 15 2018, 04:29 PM

It worries me when people use the words 'Dated' instead of just saying throwback or retro.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 15 2018, 05:14 PM

how do i find the song? i'm dying to listen to it w00t.gif

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 15 2018, 05:19 PM

nevermind i found it yahoo.gif all i have to say is

it is amazing it definitely lived up to the hype and it sounds early 2000's this looks and sounds like a hit cheer.gif
also my only negative is it goes a bit to fast but i love it also 2 chainz fits perfectly

Posted by: Bitch Mar 15 2018, 05:36 PM

This is very Dirrrty feat. When I Grow Up

Loving it

Posted by: Shia LeMuffQueef Mar 15 2018, 05:38 PM

When I Grow Up is a good comparison!

For me it's like When I Grow Up, with the first verses and the rap sounding like Dirty ONLY

Then from the first chorus on, it's nearly all When I Grow Up

It's pretty good. It should do well. This kind of retro sound does well - look at Everything About This Song Is NO> No and Yes retro song hits. Here for the sirens.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 15 2018, 05:38 PM

I wanted to love this since there actually seemed to be quite a bit of hype surrounding it, but it's SO dated and generally a bit of a racket. I can see this completely bombing unfortunately.

SyCo probably have something up there sleeve to make this a hit why would they hype it up to flop? laugh.gif and there wasting money by paying 2 Chainz to be on it, so this will be a hit im sure of it

Posted by: Jonjo Mar 15 2018, 06:40 PM

Oh wow.

I absolutely LOVE it! Definitely agree with the 'When I Grow Up' meets 'Dirrty' comments.

I was scared that it was gonna sound dated, but I'd say it's definitely more of a throwback! It's clearly a nod to the early 00's sound, but with an updated twist/it sounds fresh!

YES Louisa. Imagine if Burkey came back with something similar to this instead of 'Shadow'? sad.gif

Posted by: blacksquare Mar 15 2018, 06:41 PM

I would be very surprised if this did anything. It sounds like a song that would have struggled in 2007.

I can understand why people like it though - it is that very fast and noisy OTT pop sound that doesn't get made anymore. The Christina and PCD comparisons are spot on.

Syco actually taking a risk for once though?

and for Louisa's career she needs this to be a hit or otherwise she will be dropped sad.gif but i have high hopes that this will be a hit because she will probably get new music Friday on her side and itunes will latch on pretty quickly and she has Sunday Brunch and Lorraine so here's to hoping this can be a hit smile.gif

The charts are absolutely missing a good party-centric banger like this with a sense of FUN.

It does sound quite late 2000s, but that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned compared to some of the current turgid and tired trends.

Amelia Lily called, she wants her old album track back.

Yeah, I'm hearing the Xtina from it but that's mainly her vocal tics. A bit of a risk but I do feel they're going for retro rather than dated. It is very fast! I'm not sure how it's going to fit in 2018's pop landscape but I guess it could potentially be ahead of the curve...

Lets be honest though, Carly Rae Jepsen's last era was hyped up by similar bloggers and the internet and... Well... We know how that went sad.gif

Internet hype means nothing. Radio getting on board straight away though is a great indicator that it's likely to become a hit. Maybe not "instant top 10 and there for months" but I reckon it could get a pretty speedy climb up to it's peak in the top 10 (maybe #7 or so) and lingers around the top 15 for a few weeks.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the first 2 weeks or so she missed the top 40 and then gets a swift climb up once entering.

The charts are so hard to predict for instant success nowadays. I'd love it to be an instant top 20 smash!

I think it’ll be somewhere between that and the previous single. Top 40 but not much higher. I also don’t think it’d be absolutely massive for anyone else (unless their name was just so big then it sold for that reason).

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Mar 16 2018, 11:32 AM

I don't think 2 Chainz is a name that's going to help her much on Spotify like people keep asserting in this thread... tongue.gif he's not exactly a name anyone in the UK cares about, he only has 3 hits and they were not hits because 2 Chainz was on them. Just having a featured rapper does not automatically boost her appeal on Spotify. He's more of a big name in his own right in the US I guess but it'd be a miracle for her if this was a hit over there regardless of who was featured on it.

Posted by: jamemixer. Mar 16 2018, 05:27 PM

To be fair - Pixie Lott didn't have the backing of a big label like Louisa does.

I agree with the comments that it sounds like a decade too late though.

Maybe the fact Little Mix might do better with a song like this is because they have a solid fanbase?

It's not just about the song. Loads of songs get bought and/or streamed just out of brand loyalty and even curiosity.

Whichever way they're running with her for this, whether this is a comeback or a reinvention, to casual music fans she's either a name they've never heard of or someone who's not released a song for ages who doesn't seem to've been up to much in the meantime, who's dropped something that doesn't sound like anything else in the charts currently or recently. That's a mixed bag.

I genuinely can't see this being a full on live performance (i.e. not acoustic) on any show that's available to be promoted on atm.

We're in DIRE NEED of bigger platforms for artists to promote on at this time of year. We have Ant & Dec but thats about it. Loose Women/This Morning and things I'd expect the acoustic versions of this. drama.gif

Sounds Like Friday Night returns in a few weeks, and The Voice live shows being soon also. But you're right, there really aren't many platforms at the moment to promote music.

However, there's also The One Show, who have quite a lot of music guests, The Last Leg, which occasionally has music performances (Craig David, Example and Anne-Marie have been on it so far this year) and The Graham Norton Show, but that's been on a break since February and returns in April.

this is definitely not the kind of song that you can make work acoustically. she needs a massive performance, there's just nowhere to perform it.

YES is at #45 in the midweeks so maybe if sales are steady maybe a top 40 debut?

I sincerely doubt she's going to get a Top 40 debut unfortunately, Spotify data is missing as well.

I never understand the fan boy hysteria for Louisa (Which is odd for me as I usually love any old sh!te).

Even if this does scrape the Top 40 then what? Her previous hits are long enough ago to be forgotten so she is essentially needing to totally restart her career in order to get an album released and she needs 2-3 huge big selling hits for that to happen which feels like an impossible feat at the moment.

I’m not sure what else Syco can do? They have done duets, collaborations, pulled in big remixers, bought places on streaming playlists, done the whole 59p iTunes thing with most releases, name change... the general public are just not interested and releasing a track that sounds like it should have been a 2001 Christina b-side is not going to change that.

It's recognising the potential she has and willing her to fulfill it. She has more than proven she has it with this single.

Posted by: Mr. C. Joel Mar 23 2018, 11:31 AM

I still think Yes could still be a relative hit if it gets added on Hot Hits and airplay keeps increasing.

At least it's within the top 40 on iTunes, It's actually climbing a bit with increasing airplay.

The video isn't out either yet and if that's HUGE it could push it a little more.

Posted by: Jonjo Mar 23 2018, 11:49 AM

Yeah. It's held up really nicely on iTunes. I expected it to miss top 40 for the first few weeks, but it needs streaming support. I really hope the video is what the song deserves. Not another 'Best Behaviour' scenario thanks x

Posted by: Midge Mar 23 2018, 12:02 PM

Oops double post

Posted by: diamondtooth Mar 23 2018, 12:03 PM

I know her career has not had a stellar start but she has not done extremely badly either like a lot of other X Factor winners. So Good went Gold, Best Behaviour and Unpredictable went silver and Tears (with Clean Bandits) went Platinum.
Lets not say that she has not achieved anything.
Chart positions alone are not everything anymore. She does have 4/4 certified singles.

Also, I love 'Yes' and am willing it to do well.

Posted by: Frooot Mar 23 2018, 12:43 PM

Ideally we would have a live performance throughout the week and a 59p discount / video release next Friday! Radio is supporting this so I actually have faith it will at least manage to be a top twenty hit.

Agree she’s had some certified singles but let’s face it most acts seem to achieve that now (Even songs that miss the atop 100 seem to manage a silver award!).

The biggest issue for Louisa is despite some Silver/Gold awards the songs are essentially forgotten now and she would be unable to launch an album off the back of them - she is starting from zero and as I said in my earlier post she needs 2-3 big selling hits to be able to launch an album, even if ‘Yes’ does well I can’t see it being huge.

Posted by: diamondtooth Mar 23 2018, 02:20 PM

Yes I agree. She has not had a song that has really caught on with the general public. I still hope Yes can make an impact.

I looked on Spotify at the cities where she is listened to most. I thought the top 5 cities would all be in the UK/Ireland.
However they are: London, Dublin, Bangkok, Singapore and Istanbul!
I didn't think she was known at all outside UK/Ireland.

I don't think that's tragic at all. Considering her stature, that's a decent start and already a top 75 record.

Oh, and I'm liking this the more I hear it. It kind of makes me feel nostalgic. It's definitely something I think Alexandra Burke would've released at the height of her popularity.

Posted by: Jüpiter Mar 25 2018, 06:52 PM

I mean the more I hear it the more it sounds like a real gay anthem song. Pluses to that, it's going to appeal to a rabid fanbase and get her some (more) dedicated fanboys... Minuses, it has virtually no appeal to the general straight music-buying public except as a novelty if even that. She needs female fans and I honestly don't think I've seen any girls anywhere online stanning this or even particularly interested at all.

I feel as though she’s trying too hard to shake off the X Factor / good girl tag at the moment and it just doesn’t seem genuine too me. I feel for her because she just needs that one song to give her a good shot at getting that album out. I do like her but I think she’d have done a lot better had she not won the show. i mean it's totally subjective but in my opinion the new wave of abstract pop from the likes of Clairo and Billie Eilish is pretty good. doesn't rely on anything that's already been done but it's still accessible.

also i'd call people like SZA, Kali Uchis and H.E.R fresh and catchy, they've got some great interpretations of r&b influenced pop.

This is tragically ill-fitting to her as an artist. She really needs a new label.

She likes it and even stripped down to hear underwear and danced when she heard it in front of her label bosses:

So #83 in the mids and currently #48 on iTunes so unless the video creates some sort of boost it could exit the Top 100 this week.

Posted by: Hayzayy Mar 27 2018, 07:27 AM

Ooh I'm disappointed by that video, I expected much better and at least some basic choregraphy to go with the chorus...

The song is still a bop but I won't got back to the video.

Posted by: Tombo Mar 27 2018, 07:45 AM

The video is so good, come through Louisa!

Posted by: Jüpiter Mar 27 2018, 08:14 AM

Eh, it's alright, disappointing she didn't serve choreo when a) she can actually dance and b) that kind of thing is SO in right now thanks to Dua Lipa, Rita etc.
Comes off as a weaker copy of Ain't My Fault meets Your Song imo
I'm reminded of Demi avoiding any choreo in the Instruction video that was crying out for it...

Posted by: Frooot Mar 27 2018, 08:56 AM

I don’t think there’s enough attention on Louisa in the actual video if I’m being honest! I expected so much more from the video, I expected a routine and a video full of attitude!

I’ve not played the song much at all since it debuted as I’ve gone off it a bit!

Posted by: liamk97 Mar 27 2018, 11:02 AM

It's a disappointing video when you consider there was great opportunity for a fierce dance routine instead of random images of random people, but at least it wasn't a totally embarrassment as well as a disappointment like 'Best Behaviour' was.

But if it didn't suit her personality then she wouldn't have asked for a song like this. Also, she stripped down when she heard it as she loved it so much

Posted by: Ashley Mar 28 2018, 12:35 AM

This sounds like it should be on a Step Up soundtrack. It's like something by the Paradiso Girls or Sophia Fresh or some other failed girl band. It's all there and I secretly love it, but it would never be a hit.

It’s not doing bad it’s holding well on iTunes without Radio 1 support.

It’s doing a lot better than some other recent releases which should of made more of an impact.

It’s all down to not being on Hot Hits, she would have made the top 40.

To be fair, in the battle of trying to eradicate homophobia from society what's the point of demonising someone for something they did when they were 14? She realises her mistake, there are bigger fish to fry.

I believe she deserves a second chance here.

Posted by: Jüpiter Mar 29 2018, 06:54 PM

Second Chance might as well be her tagline by now...

Posted by: Liаm Mar 29 2018, 07:02 PM

Twitter gays are obsessed with "cancelling" everyone, as said she was 14... If we "cancelled" everyone who used that language when they were 14, there'd be barely anyone left on the charts. Obviously that language shouldn't be used but Aly is right, there are far fiercer battles to be fought than her saying a few things in like 2012. People just love to make drama out of anything, if only they would this energy into something more helpful, but people never bother where it's actually needed.

I’m not sure what’s left for them to revive it now? The video is out, it’s had the 59p treatment on iTunes, made its way onto a few streaming playlists and she’s done some TV promo. I can’t see remixes benefiting the song that much so would be surprised if it manages to rebound.

Posted by: Tombo Apr 3 2018, 11:16 AM

So a new article has come out claiming Louisa could be dropped, following the charting of her latest single. I dunno how reliable this is though as it only says "a source"

QUOTE

The X Factor winner apparently could be dumped if her new single fails to make an impact on the charts.

And so far, it's not looking great.

Despite her new song YES - featuring US rapper 2 Chainz - being pretty amazing, it's only managed to peak at Number 65 so far. This week the song fell to Number 92.

"Everyone has high hopes for Louisa's latest bid to establish herself. There's a buzz about, but it really is make or break," a source said this week.

They told the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper: "Everyone has a lot of faith in her ability and there's no denying her talent, but if she doesn't have a big hit soon she will be dropped.

"There's only so long you can keep spending on an artist and not make the money back."

Speaking of her new song last month, Louisa said: “As soon as I recorded Yes I knew it had to be a single. It instantly became my favourite song I’ve ever worked on," Louisa said. “You can’t help but move when you hear this track, I hope everyone is ready.”

Unusually for an X Factor winner, Louisa has still yet to put out her debut album despite appearing on the show back in 2015.

In 2016, the champ of the 12th series collaborated on 'Tears' with Clean Bandit which went into the Top 10.

Louisa then released debut single single 'So Good' followed by 'Best Behaviour'.

In 2017, Louisa collaborated on fellow X Factor star Olly Murs' latest song Unpredictable.

Tears feels so much longer ago than 2016. I wouldn’t be surprised if she were dropped after how things went with Ella who actually had success.

The fact she got saved over Ella suggests she'll get an album out the label, but then again, there's been no hints of an album whatsoever... normally when an artist is plugging a single they hint about other tracks recorded... when she has been asked about the album all she says is "it's coming soon". No "there's this real emotional ballad on the record" for example.

I doubt places like This Morning decide guests by name power. If a label pays for the promo slot, I doubt they would care.

Is it really 'doing alright' though? Strong Capital airplay (plus video rotation) since release, Scott Mills' track of the week, a discount, and yet it still can't go top 30. It's pretty dead in the water I'd say, even if it does get added to Hot Hits.

I think this is the end for her now, I never expected much from this anyway because it’s definitely doesn’t have a current sound.

I hope somehow there’s still an album, I think it would do alright as she does have a bit of a fanbase still.

What a relief! I’m yet to find anything decent about this song. She kinda sunk her own fate bragging about getting half naked in a board meeting in a room full of older men and in a post-Weinstein world, the image does not sit well. Aside from the fact the song & video are just rubbish.

Also, it’ll teach Syco a lesson if Ella has a bigger album (I say bigger. You can’t do much worse than Louisa lol)

I certainly don't think it's too late, it's just whether the GP respond well to something that sounds like a throwback to a decade ago.

Stop being cocky.... there are many songs that respond well to HHUK

Of all the people to say that to someone laugh.gif laugh.gif

So you can't name one basically?

Thanks Jack - how did "No" perform once added to Hot Hits? Also that was 2 years ago now already, where does time go? mellow.gif

Posted by: Jack Apr 12 2018, 10:52 AM

I think it was added a few weeks after (but I have no idea if I'm correct, like you say it was a while ago) and shot up to the Top 20!

I can't remember either tbh; I thought it was the video effect but maybe Hot Hits had something to do with it too.

Good call though - she definitely bought the retro sound back with that one - though I would have to say "No" is also quite a bit better than "Yes"...

Also just realised we're comparing "Yes" and "No" there laugh.gif

Omg yes, finally! Peace has been restored to the universe!

If songs like Rewrite the Stars and This Is Me can do so amazing on streaming anything is possible. But I do think it's a bit late for this one. 4 weeks ago when it was steady at 27/28 on iTunes, and getting better airplay, sure. But it's a bit late now I fear.

Posted by: ___∆___ Apr 13 2018, 12:27 AM

Even if this does somehow respond to the HH add what’s the best we could expect? A #36 smash? Louisa is in no better position if that happens to launch her album - she needs a few consecutive big hits. She’s in Pixie Lott territory at the moment tbh.

Posted by: Bartier Cqmerqn Apr 13 2018, 05:14 PM

Down to 100 this week

Posted by: Tombo Tingz Apr 13 2018, 05:18 PM

Hopefully the playlist placement can push it up next week cheer.gif
I'd love it to go top 40!

Posted by: Bartier Cqmerqn Apr 13 2018, 05:19 PM

It will a little bit, but it’s in the 60s on iTunes now

Posted by: Tombo Tingz Apr 14 2018, 02:53 PM

I wish Spotify would update so we can see where this is (if anywhere)

Posted by: Bartier Cqmerqn Apr 14 2018, 05:54 PM

Not top 200

Shame sad.gif I guess it is quite low down on the playlist

Posted by: ___∆___ Apr 16 2018, 09:53 PM

Not in the Top 100 mids - think it’s safe to assume this single campaign is officially over and a flop.

Posted by: Mr. C. Joel Apr 16 2018, 10:35 PM

Over now.

I hope they still release the album, I can’t see it happening now though.

I don’t understand why they went with something so dated?!

She has masses of potential IMO but it’s the wrong material everytime.

I love YES but it doesn’t sit well with the current stuff at all, when it comes on the radio it instantly sound a like a single from 9 years ago+

Posted by: Mack. Apr 17 2018, 11:59 AM

It's a shame that this has flopped. expected quite a bit from this.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Apr 17 2018, 12:08 PM

It's not over, it has just entered the top 200 on Spotify following its Hot Hits addition and it's climbing iTunes as we speak.

It can still be a top 42 hit.

Posted by: ScarsOnTomboTing Apr 17 2018, 07:06 PM

Awesome, I hope it continues to climb on both charts!

Solo version:

They may as well release this version to buy/stream seeing as it's not going to do anything anyway at this point. The (brief) middle eight in place of 2 Chainz is pretty good!

Posted by: Jüpiter May 2 2018, 07:45 PM

I still can't get over them releasing for her comeback, after she's shown from her personality and social media videos etc. etc. that she wants to and can dance, a music video where not only does she not dance at all, only walks up some steps, she's hardly even in the video!

This video's much better despite the shoestring budget. What a waste of money that other video was, seriously, her manager should take a long hard look at themself.

That video though blink.gif Looks like it was recorded and edited on an iPhone 4.

The middle eight is so good!

At least they are still trying to make the song happen!

I think you mean “mutually decided not to work together anymore”.

New single to be released on Ministry of Sound next month. But don’t worry it’s stil part of the Sony Family 😂.

Will she be the first X Factor Winner to never release an album.

We've known that for a while, but I think this conclusively confirms it.

Posted by: danG Jul 13 2018, 11:46 PM

Why am I not surprised?

Syco were basically setting her up for failure with this song, no way was it ever going to be a hit.
If she's on MoS then that's still good for her though, they may actually give her a decent song too. Not that it'll chart well (or at all) but still.

Posted by: Cqmerqn Jul 13 2018, 11:48 PM

YES flopped due to lack of support.

If they got her a decent New Music Friday placing, and managed to get a insta add on Hot Hits and Radio 1, then it would’ve been a bit.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Jul 14 2018, 02:18 AM

No major shock but they should have released the album as from the songs released alone they nearly had an albums worth.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Jul 14 2018, 08:45 AM

YES was abysmal and anyone that wasn’t in the gay community knew that hence its lack of impact. Shes had SO MUCH promo & money invested into her. Shes just not a star. Maybe the featured vocalist route will work n

Posted by: Cqmerqn Jul 14 2018, 09:23 AM

So, has she actually just moved over to Ministry of Sound then?

Posted by: Joe. Jul 14 2018, 09:31 AM

^ nah she’s just on their comp. their comps release music from lots of labels.

YES just wasn’t great, especially for the GP. I know we gays love a big uptempo number but it was too dated for the charts. It did well enough with support that if the GP were interested it would have picked up. Hot Hits, big Capital and Kiss support...Did nothing.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Jul 14 2018, 09:36 AM

I feel like she mainly flopped at this point because it's her, she didn't really have a hope in hell.

Posted by: Cqmerqn Jul 14 2018, 09:41 AM

Part of the problem is that Tears, So Good, Best Behaviour and YES all have nothing slightly in common

Tears is very dancey
So Good is ballad-slow like pop
Best Behaviour is a trashy bop
YES is dated

She just needs to concentrate on being a guest vocalist now on dance tracks rather than trying to be the next Pixie Lott.

Posted by: Jüpiter Jul 14 2018, 02:20 PM

Ultimately I think she won it too young.

It's hard to get invested in the career of someone who's not even a legal adult. Especially when she wants to make 'mature' music.

Posted by: lewistgreen Jul 14 2018, 02:29 PM

Interesting for MOS to sign her, they don't usually opt for non-dance acts other than London Grammar so will be intrigued to hear what they'll do with her.

Posted by: danG Jul 14 2018, 02:31 PM

They should give her a feature on a hot new dance song, that's probably the only way she'll be able to get back in the chart.

Posted by: Andrew. Jul 14 2018, 02:32 PM

I adore YES but it would’ve flopped a decade ago, let alone in 2018. Hetty’s have no taste sad.gif kink.gif

Posted by: Catherine91 Jul 14 2018, 02:49 PM

I'm surprised it's taken them this long to drop her really!

Posted by: Mack. Jul 14 2018, 03:01 PM

She could go back to her old friends, Clean Bandit for a hit or Rudimental.

Would any of the big dance acts actually want her though? There is no shortage of more successful female artists willing to be a feature on the next hot dance track.

Posted by: lewistgreen Jul 14 2018, 09:35 PM

I'm assuming then that the Zac Samuel/One Bit confirmed collab will be said single.
