After listening to Together You And I. I was soo amazed how pop it sounded rather then country as you may expect from Dolly Parton. So I had to buy her new album "Better Day" it's peaked in the UK at #9 her best peak yet here for a studio album, Together You And I entered the top 75 at #67 (thanks to her strictly come dancing performance) it's her best charting peak in 17 years and a sell out UK tour last month.
After listening to how great the better day album was (the sacrifice, in the meantime & country is as country does are fab songs), I've brought the Backwoods Barbie album and loving it!. I really like jesus & gravity, backwoods barbie, tears of my tracks & drives me crazy. So, does anyone have the new album or any albums ? Or do you have any favourite songs ?. Any recommendations? (I wasn't sure where to post this, so I hope it's ok here). |

Afraid I only have the 'Best of' from Dolly. Favourite songs for me are 'In The Ghetto', 'Harper Valley PTA' (although I do love the Jeannie C Riley version), 'I Will Always Love You' (so much more touching than Whitney's screeching verion) and - I know its plain ludicrous - but I love 9 to 5.
Whenever she's announced a concert at the MEN - we've always been out of luck ticket-wise - as the minute they're announced - they're GONE! And I've heard she puts on an absolutely fabulous show. Kath |

I've heard she mimes some songs though. I'd not heard that one. I know people who've been to her shows and have said she was brilliant (although not sounding exactly like her singles - which is a good thing). Doesn't matter to me as I'm unlikely to be lucky enough to see her ever. Kath |

Always wished I'd seen Tammy Wynette. Do you like her? She has far better songs than the one she's most famous for. |

She did mime her performance of Together You And I on SCD. I don't mind that too much as long as she didn't do it on tour. I am thinking about buying her live cd/dvd set from the london shows.

All I know of Dolly Parton is ''To Daddy'' and ''I Will Always Love You''. The former is really good, I love the lyrics.

Maybe I should look up some of her albums. It's just that her looks have always really put me off

I inexplicably love Dolly I'm only 14 and usually listen to stuff like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson but Dolly really grabs me! Jolene is my ultimate fave

OH and another thing - I can't think of any other singer in history who can convey emotion in their voice as well as Dolly <3.

I like the lady who sang with Porter Wagoner before Dolly. She was billed as Pretty Miss Norma Jean, and she still sings out in Branson.

I don't mean to denigrate your love of Dolly Parton but this is, quite simply, the most rediculous thing I have read or heard today. Why? She's a fantastic writer and she knows how to put emotion in her work as well as in her voice. On another note, I am surprised to read she's been with her first husband for 45 years now. Not to sound judgemental but I thought by the way she looks she'd have worn out at least 7 husbands. |
