Central Cee is a name I've heard before but know very little about. However he is coming for his first hit this week with 'Loading' slowly climbing up the midweek chart after it's release on Friday. It's nice to have someone come out of nowhere to debut in the top 40 so I'm excited to give this a listen.

So glad that this has managed to reach the top 20 this week.
Easily one of the best UK Drill hits for a long time. The production sounds so original and completely makes the song. |

This took a few listens to click with me after it initially seemed like a really random song to blow up from an artist who'd had no previous hits but I definitely get it a lot more now - I think it definitely does come down to the instrumental which is pretty creative compared to most other UK drill songs having fairly similar sounding instrumentals. Glad that it has turned into a lasting hit and reached a good new peak last week.

Seeming that Commitment Issues is looking to become his 2nd top 40 hit this week I thought I'd make this a thread for his debut album. It's called Wild West and will be released on 12th March. The 2nd single was 'Pinging (Six Figures) that just missed the top 40.
Surprisingly for a rap album, there is going to be zero features. New J. Cole |

Day 1 Spotify
8. Commitment Issues 11. 6 For 6 17. Loading 43. Day In The Life 58. Fraud 76. Pinging (Six Figures) 88. Ruby 89. The Bag 109. Hate It Or Luv It 113. Dun Deal 119. Sex Money Drugs 121. Tension 122. Gangbiz 144. Xmas Eve I reckon Commitment Issues will scrape top 10, 6 For 6 will be top 30 and Loading will just about stay above Day In The Life by the end of the week. |

Finally got around to listening to 'Day In The Life' after it belatedly becoming a top 100 hit and it's been stuck in my head a lot since then - glad that it has eventually made a bit more impact outside of the ~underground~ as I think it's probably better than any of the songs that have come after it (even if it's not quite as unique as 'Loading')!
'6 For 6' is also a big improvement on the previous 2 singles for me, he does have an ear for a good hook. I'm not really sure how to feel about 'Commitment Issues', it certainly also has the catchiness factor going for it but the lyrical content is really trashy to the point of being distracting - would have preferred nearly any of his other singles becoming a top 10 hit over that one oops (maybe except 'Pinging (6 Figures)' which in retrospect is basically just 'Day In The Life' again but nowhere near as good). |
