01. Best Picture Winner ✅
No Country For Old Men (2007)
> Gave this 3 stars out of 5. It was alright. Very one-note though and the ending was... awful? Juno should've won out of the main contenders, but Lars & The Real Girl was robbed of a nomination this year I think. <

02. A Movie "Classic" ✅
To Kill A Mockingbird (1962)
> 4 Stars out of 5. I enjoyed this! Gregory Peck just seemed like such a big, friendly giant! This movie still seemed horribly relevant, even today. What I loved about this is that it had 2 stories running alongside at once, but it didn't feel messy or all over the place. <

03. Low Budget, Big Box Office ✅
The King's Speech (2010)
> 4 Stars out of 5. This was very good! I didn't know what to expect from it really, but I really took to it! <

04. Starring Animals ✅
Turner & Hooch (1989)
> 3 Stars out of 5. Tried looking for films that used real life animals and not CGI ones (soz Dolittle xx). This was cute. A film with Tom Hanks and a big dog was always going to be a win in my book!! <

05. Early Film Of A Famous Actor/Actress ✅
Basketball Diaries (1995)
> 2 and a half Stars out of 5. I had to go for my favourite actor! Mr. DiCaprio. He really is one of the GOAT's. He had it from such a young age with this and 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape?'! The movie was a bit "meh". Forgettable but good. <

06. With Subtitles ✅
Mother (2009)
> 4 Stars out of 5. This was so good. One of Bong Joon-ho's earlier efforts. It was tense and gripping! Definitely recommend if your looking for a good thriller. <

07. Stop Motion Film ✅
A Town Called Panic (2009)
> 3 Stars out of 5. I'm not a huge stop motion animation fan. This was silly, OTT, fun though. <

08. Set During A Historic War ✅
Schindler's List (1993)
> 5 Stars out of 5. I thought I'd seen this film before, but I hadn't (pretty sure I'd have remembered it if I did!) but this was... incredible. Not many touch Steven Spielberg. This is so hard to watch, but so, so good. Very harrowing but educational. <

09. Independent Film ✅
Rocks (2020)
> 3 Stars out of 5. One of the newest releases on my list. A real and raw depiction of growing up in London. Not an easy watch but a good one. <

10. Family-Friendly Movie ✅
Monster House (2006)
> 3 Stars out of 5. This was surprisingly dark!? Cute film though. The animation hasn't held up well at all, but I liked the story! <

11. Best Original Screenplay Winner ✅
Almost Famous (2000)
> 4 Stars out of 5. Really liked this. It wasn't what I expected at all though! I wasn't expecting it to be a film that basically follows a band and their "band aids" as they tour the Country looking to make it big. <

12. Controversial Film ✅
Bonnie & Clyde (1967)
> 3 Stars out of 5. Good movie. I can see why it's deemed controversial, especially for it's time. It's crazy, I always wondered why Bonnie & Clyde were seen as "cool" when they were criminals... but I low-key think this movie played a big part of that and their legacy! <
