To help me out with JCM20's excellent poll about what the best song is from both a Boy Band and Girl Group, I had to sit down and brainstorm what groups there have been over the years. Most of my knowledge comes from the 90's onward, but I'd welcome suggestions of other groups I've mistaken to add!
Boy Bands vs Girl Groups Here's what I've come up with; Boy Bands A1 Aha All-4-One American Authors Another Level Ant & Dec ATL Avenue Az Yet Babybird Backstreet Boys Baha Men BBMak The Beach Boys The Beatles Bee Gees Big Mountain Billiam Blackstreet Blazin' Squad Blue The Bluebells B.O.N. Ok I guess I've got a bit carried away with this catalogue of boy bands and girl groups.
Perhaps I need some rules to narrow down the results; For example what constitutes a boy band or girl group? How many members should be in the group as a minimum/maximum? How many chartworthy songs should they have had in the UK as a minimum? What music genres should the list be limited to? Thoughts anyone? Just noticed DNCE listed as a boyband, not technically true because they have one female member!
