I don't want to sound too premature saying this, but for me that felt like one of the best episodes of the whole era?
I screamed when the bronze Daleks returned (obviously I knew they'd be there in some capacity, but I wasn't expecting anything like that)! It actually felt like a really solid story too, despite there being a lot of character stuff going on in between it all. I don't think the Dalek action was quite up there with Resolution, but it was great to see them mercilessly killing people again, so I'm glad Chibnall hasn't been afraid to show them at their best! The scene between Jack and Yaz in Osaka was incredible - a really emotional moment, and the character development for Yaz and just how dependent she's become on the Doctor was heartbreaking at the same time. More of this to be explored in series 13 please x Also the scenes in the prison the Weeping Angel, the Silent, PTING!!!, it was all so good, if brief. I've not been a fan of Ryan at all throughout the era, but it definitely felt real that there was a 10 month gap between them seeing the Doctor, and that he'd grown up and matured a lot. It felt like a natural ending for him ( Now I'm absolutely buzzing for series 13! But, in the least offensive way possible to any scousers, John Bishop's accent is going to be PAINFUL |

My favourite Jodie episode I think! Was gripped throughout (which I haven't been for many of the past series or so).
Also John Bishop is great, so I am excited for this |

John Bishop's now been confirmed as a companion, and his character is "Dan"

That was actually pretty good. It never got too slow or too slushy. The daleks were daleks, just evil, no trying to understand them as an enemy. I didn’t mind Bradley Walsh so I’ll happily give John Bishop a chance.
It felt like real Doctor Who again. Hopefully they can keep this up but going off the last two series, I’m not gonna hold my breath. |

I'm happy to give John Bishop a chance too... partly as I can still remember how appalled I was at the thought of Catherine Tate and look how that turned out!

Why do we need more companions?! Yaz is enough!!
Much better episode than usual, and it is probably one of the best out of these two TERRIBLE seasons, HOWEVER!! I am confused r.e one point: what ties the doctor to these three companions, and why does she miss them? They have had very limited interactions and VERY stilted conversations. Why on earth would she miss three strangers she went on a few adventures with after literal decades? None of them seemed particularly close. The ending was more like a parody, with the cheesy vision and the Ryan St Clair bike song thing, than an actual episode But it was a nice call-back. |

I LOVED that episode, absolutely one of the best Chibnall episodes. He's really got the Daleks bang on (and I think he did with the Cybermen too, top marks for his classic villain usage so far), and Robertson was thoroughly entertaining. Jack's return felt natural and surely leading to future appearances now he's back on Earth (with Gwen??? PLEASE!). Ryan and Graham got a wonderful exit and I adored how Graham's last line was "you're doing it mate"
Intrigued by John Bishop!! Not sure what to expect but this show's made amazing companions out of Catherine Tate, Matt Lucas and Bradley Walsh so I'm expecting more brilliance. Personally I'd have loved a 13/Yaz team but I think series 13 needed something NEW to entice viewers (back), so it figures from that perspective. |

I'm watching this now... its kinda dull 42 minutes in. The action (or what action there is) just continually halts for the characters to have random heart to hearts - its sort of clunky. Ryan is also one of the dullest, waste of space companions there has ever been.
Again i'm in the minority on here it seems not so much on other forums though This post has been edited by ElectroBoy: 1st January 2021, 09:16 PM |

Badly I've seen John Bishop acting before and he was OK so I think he'll be fine. I just wonder whether he saw it as just a short-term way of carrying on working when he couldn't do any stand-up shows. I was rather hoping there would be a good-looking young male companion |

Chibnall should have brought Ethan from Ascension/Timeless Children back, that would’ve been amazing
