QUOTE Derry singer Nadine Coyle has thrown her support behind this year’s Race for Life for Cancer Research UK. Ditching her everyday styles in favour of a Game of Thrones-style makeover - complete with flowing tresses and defiant stare – Nadine channelled her inner warrior for a photoshoot as she unites with women throughout Northern Ireland taking part in the annual Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. The 29-year-old Derry singer worked her new looks for the cameras, demonstrating her fighting spirit in the face of cancer. She is encouraging women, regardless of their age, shape or fitness level, to gather their friends and family and join the female-only event at Stormont on Sunday 31st May, to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Speaking about the event, Nadine said, “I am incredibly proud to be supporting Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life this year. Cancer has affected too many loved ones and it’s time to fight back. “Everyone who runs, walks or sponsors someone at Race for Life events this summer will make a huge difference in the fight against cancer. Please encourage all your friends and family to take part, cheer you on or sponsor you. Let’s show cancer that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink! “I have heard about the fantastic facilities in Northern Ireland,” she added, “so it would be wonderful for people to continue supporting Cancer Research UK’s work here. Hopefully it doesn’t rain on the day!” Cancer Research UK is urging all women to stand with Nadine and join the pink army by signing up to take part in the Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco. All funds raised will go towards beating over 200 different types of cancer. Cancer Research UK spokesperson for Northern Ireland, Jean Walsh said, “Last year, almost 6000 women took part in Race for Life in Belfast and raised a fantastic £308,000. This year, organisers need 6000 women and girls to stride out to help raise £350,000. “Money raised through Race for Life allows Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists to advance research which is helping to save the lives of men, women and children across Northern Ireland. “Race for Life is to celebrate those who are with us, and also remember those who are not. The atmosphere is electric, our participants are so inspiring and we’re calling on everyone to help make 2015 our best year yet.” To enter Race for Life today go to raceforlife.org or call 0300 123 0770. You can also call the hotline on 0845 600 6050 and follow Race for Life on twitter http://twitter.com/raceforlife or join the Race for Life Facebook community www.facebook.com/raceforlife http://www.derryjournal.com/news/nadine-co...-army-1-6693048 Great to see Nadine getting behind such a good cause. She looks stunning! Although I did have a bit of a chuckle at the 'in partnership with Tesco' part |
