Do we actually have confirmation this will be a UK (/worldwide) single yet? There was still no sign of it on the Radio 1 playlist when I checked. They'd better get a move on because the album has been dropping alarmingly quickly since Xmas (#40 this week)...

I don't expect we'll see this impacting for at least another 6 weeks or so, as there's no confirmed release date it wouldn't be on the Radio 1 playlist yet.

It's been sent to Dutch radio so I reckon the UK will follow soon This post has been edited by *Tim: 13th January 2014, 07:30 PM |

Been a fan since it first leaked. surprised it took so long for them to finally realise that it could be a great single considering it's the best song on the album~

Up to #4 on the Hot 100. I do reckon it'll be a #1 for her there.

Digital Spy's review:
QUOTE Having spent the last seven years being a reassuringly reliable and unashamedly conventional popstar of the very best kind, there are a number of troubling aspects about Katy Perry's latest single. Where's the chorus? Is she actually attempting trap music? Does she really need a rubbish guest rapper at this point in her career? And seriously, where is the chorus? Yes, 'Dark Horse' is in many ways the very antithesis of what most would expect from a Katy Perry single, but after the underperformance of her last effort 'Unconditionally', throwing out a curve ball at this point seems like the perfect move. It plods, the beat is sleazier than anything Miley's put her name to and her vocals are sultry in a way that initially feels just plain wrong. That said, we defy anyone to not have 'Dark Horse' tangled in their brains after their first listen - or get swept up in its storming finale. lol |

honestly what a terribly conceived/worded review. are these ppl paid for their services or do you just send in your own work?

What an odd way to review a song. Is a pop song now deemed crap if it plays around with structure? A chorus isn't necessary but there's a very clear hook there in the 'are you ready for, ready for' sections - it's moronic to try and paint this out as a trap mess that is completely forgettable because it lacks a chorus.
Liking this song isn't a necessity, I know plenty that don't - but the basis for that "critique" seems to be 80% centered around a change in structure and the fact it's not a safe Katy Perry song, which is actually something that should perhaps be applauded rather than opposed. |

The only bit of that review I agree with is the terrible guest rapper bit. This Pitbull version need to LEAK.

By FAR the best song on the album. I hope this is huge here and then we can forget 'Unconditionally' exists.
(I do like the instrumental of 'Unconditionally; I don't suppose anyone has linkylink?) |

Love the song. I remember hearing about it from that Facebook poll for a clip of thta or Walking on Air and the title just made me LOL, but on hearing it I was here for it.
Not sure why theyr eleased Unconditionally instead of this, especially as second single, unless they were trying to follow the Teenage Dream formula of upbeat-ballad-(then I assumed Legendary Lovers like E.T). I'd have preferred Legendary Lovers but seeing as it's doing so well in America, why not, should have been second anyway. So how did Unconditionally do in the end in the US after #11 here? |
