BuzzJack Music Forum _ Kylie and Dannii Minogue _ Get Outta My Way vs Like a Drug vs Into The Blue

Posted by: pippa 3rd March 2020, 03:11 PM

What is the best song?

Posted by: pippa 3rd March 2020, 09:31 PM

Like a Drug, i am a very big fan of this song.

Posted by: Calum 3rd March 2020, 10:10 PM

Into the Blue

Close one between that and Get Outta My Way, though. Like A Drug is a favourite from X but... doesn't really compare to the other two.

Posted by: slowdown73 3rd March 2020, 10:39 PM

Like a drug followed by into the blue.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th March 2020, 01:24 AM

Like a drug by a million miles.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 4th March 2020, 10:32 AM

'Get Outta My Way', followed by 'Like a Drug', followed by 'Into The Blue'.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th March 2020, 01:22 PM

Into the blue and get outta my way would in the same level for me with like a drug much much preferred. Like a drug is one of my all time fave kylie songs and still miffed it was never a single.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 4th March 2020, 02:28 PM

In a perfectly executed era, 'Like A Drug' would have been a single somewhere along the line and '2 Hearts' not. But ah well, what can you do?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th March 2020, 12:39 AM

Like a drug I would have had for 2nd single with the one the lead.

Posted by: Euphorique 5th March 2020, 12:58 PM

GOOMW by far.

The other 2 are good but not great. Had it been Speakerphone then maybe it would be harder

Posted by: JosephInSpace 5th March 2020, 10:03 PM

Get Outta My Way is her best song so easily gets my vote!

Posted by: dandy* 5th March 2020, 10:05 PM

Definitely has to be Like a Drug for me, always been one of my favourites of hers.

It's a song I hope she one day does on tour again.

I feel the same thoughts on this.
A big missed opportunity and i think it could have been matched with a great video.
Like a Drug was also positioned for good remixes and it would have been a big club hit.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th March 2020, 07:38 PM

Would be a brill record store day release.

Posted by: pippa 10th March 2020, 11:14 AM

Like a Drug and Into The Blue battling for 2nd place.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 10th March 2020, 09:33 PM

Disappointing to see get outta my way winning this.

Get Outta My Way is her best song

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 10th March 2020, 11:52 PM

I know a surprising number of people who consider 'Get Outta My Way' their favourite song of hers! (Both fans and casual/non fans).

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th March 2020, 01:16 AM

It has some big fans that's for sure, but I dont get how people can think it's her best song.

Posted by: Euphorique 11th March 2020, 08:51 PM

Not her best, but probably top10 for me.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th March 2020, 11:38 PM

Def not near her best but far from her worst aswell.

Posted by: Dark Horse 12th March 2020, 09:07 PM

Like a drug, should’ve been the second single from X after In My arms...

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 13th March 2020, 01:30 AM

Disagree, in my arms would not have been the strongest lead single, 3rd or 4th single ya.

Posted by: Liam.k. 22nd March 2020, 06:59 PM

1) Get Outta My Way
2) Like a Drug
3) Into the Blue

I think, but they all rate so closely so the order could easily change. Listening to 'Into the Blue' now, I'd love this song to make a return on tour. Regardless of what was going on during the Kiss Me Once era, Kylie seemed to genuinely love this song. It's bursting with joy and those strings are so heavenly.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 22nd March 2020, 08:49 PM

I do think into the blue will be on a tour but most likely part of a megamix.

Posted by: pippa 25th April 2020, 03:24 PM

Like a Drug, another Kylie classic that was deserving of much greater success, a song full of potential that ,could have sat one side of other classic Kylie singles.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 25th April 2020, 03:37 PM

Like a drug and the one are big faves of mine and prob 2 of my most listened to kylie songs, I hate that neither are seen as big chart hits. X was so screwed up with bad single choices as these 2 songs should have been 1st and 2nd singles. At least with into the blue it was the right choice of lead single from what was on offer. Get outta my way I can it or leave it but see why it was chosen and to be fair it does keep tipping away in low sales/streams which have helped bring up its sales.

Posted by: pippa 25th April 2020, 03:52 PM

2 Hearts winning lead single status over so many greater songs on the album still annoys and baffles me.
A sign that switching labels would be the correct direction for Kylie.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 25th April 2020, 04:59 PM

2 hearts as lead single was just so stupid, the one is exactly what a killer lead single should be and they let it slip through their fingers.

Posted by: ___∆___ 25th April 2020, 05:21 PM

Only just spotted that I hadn’t voted in this not that my choice has changed much laugh.gif Love them all but went for GOOMW

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 25th April 2020, 05:26 PM

The huge fan love of get outta my way baffles me. Its not a bad song but I dont love it.

I remember reading that Kylie and Parlophone thought it was going to huge and were really disappointed that it only reached #12... I guess it kind of killed the era from their point of view especially as we got the atrocious choice of a follow up BTT which duly limped into the Top 40 despite an XF performance.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 25th April 2020, 05:35 PM

Out of interest, what inspired the poll and these particular choices? These 3 songs are quite random to put together!

My favourite is Into the Blue, closely followed by Get Outta My Way. Like a Drug was definitely a highlight from X but out of these songs it's last for me.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 25th April 2020, 05:37 PM

I remember there was huge hype around it from fans etc and when I first heard it I was like I dont see what's so great about it, I always see it as a cheap love at first sight knock off and never thought it would be a big hit so I was in no way surprised it missed the top 10. I do like better than today but it was a bad choice of single, when I heard it was 3rd single I was happy and with xfactor performance etc I was sure it would go top 20 so was so disappointed with its peak.

Posted by: Euphorique 25th April 2020, 05:42 PM

GOOMW should've been the lead imo. But they picked the 2 best songs to be 1st and 2nd singles. The rest of the album was incredibly mediocre

Get Outta My Way has never really given me Love at First Sight vibes tbh!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 25th April 2020, 05:47 PM

I always get that vibe from it but I rarely listen to it now I also see it as such a poor follow up to all the lovers which I absolutely love.

Posted by: pippa 25th April 2020, 06:10 PM

All the Lovers was always hard to follow up as it connected with not just the fans but the casual listener too.
Get outta my Way struggled outside the fanbase which knocked the momentum the album was experiencing.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 25th April 2020, 06:12 PM

All the lovers always gives me that warm fuzzy feeling and kylie always nails it live which I love, such a career standout song.

Posted by: pippa 25th April 2020, 06:30 PM

I would have liked top 2 for All the Lovers and ideally number 1.That said, number 3 is impressive and the reality is it was Kylie's last huge hit.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 25th April 2020, 06:38 PM

Ya sadly it was unless she gets a magical surprise collaboration hit.

Posted by: pippa 27th April 2020, 07:17 PM

A Calvin Harris or Jax Jones collaboration could happen, I would not completely rule it out.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 28th April 2020, 12:40 AM

I can't imagine those collaborating with her, I'm still holding out for a second Sigala collaboration to be pushed as a single.

Been really loving 'Get Outta My Way' so much this week. It's my social distancing anthem for when I'm in the supermarket!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th April 2020, 01:02 AM

Good social distancing song!! I'd love a big collab like that but prob wont happen now, sigala should have pushed the kylie duet but maybe another might happen.

Posted by: pippa 28th April 2020, 02:42 PM

Very disappointing that the Sigala What You Waiting For track waited unused.
Next time a Sigala featuring Kylie and Dannii together would be welcoming, could it work?
