According to reports today, the Carry On series of comedy films is set to get a revival, 24 years after the last film in the series, Carry On Columbus. The new film, Carry On Doctors, is produced by Jonathan Sothcott and written by Susan Nickson and Tim Dawson, the duo who have written Two Pints of Lager and A Packet Of Crisps. The original series started in 1958 with Carry On Sergeant and ended in 1978 with Carry On Emmanuelle. In 1992, the series was revived with Carry On Columbus. Notable highlights of the series include Carry On Nurse (1959), Carry On Teacher (1960), Carry On Cleo (1964), Carry On Cowboy (1965), Carry On Screaming! (1966), Don't Lose Your Head (1966), Carry On Doctor (1967), Carry On Up The Khyber (1968), Carry On Camping (1969), Carry On Matron (1972), Carry On Abroad (1972) and Carry On Dick (1974). What are your thoughts on this? Should the series be revived, or left as it is? Discuss. And in the meantime, here is the classic quote from Carry On Cleo |

I'm undecided on this as long as it's still got its innuendo without being crude then I'll give it a try.
We'll wait and see what happens there, as for many years there's been rumours of a new Carry On movie but nothing materialised. Carry On London never happened. |

A lot of people would feel that it should be left well alone.

As Mack said, this story pops up every few years and nothing ever comes of it.
I really like the old Carry Ons but there were some real stinkers back in the day too. Carry On England, Carry On Behind and Carry On Emmanuelle are all awful. |

Im in favour, if the script is good - and given the state of the NHS its not as if there is a lack of topics to ridicule - most of all because there is a wealth of british comic actors who are tv based who could shine on the big screen, plus a couple of cameos for jim dale n babs windsor for continuity links.
It would need to avoid crude, have a bit more bite, and knowingly parody its own history while being very 2016. I have come up with cast lists over the years that would be fab, and plots...just kept them to myself |

Don't forget Leslie Phillips and June Whitfield - but then they showed up looking hacked off in Columbus already.
This probably says more about the state of funding for British films right now. Has it really got to the point where they'll only sanction a script if it has a noted brand associated with it? |
