The MISERABLE year of Covid-19 but GLORIOUS year of Chromatica is about to end in 10 days.... So let me count down my top ten Gaga-related MOMENTS of 2020. There's been plenty!

OMG HIIIIPE

Here we go!!!!!!!!!!

#10 Gaga triumphs at the VMAs

Ok we know that the GENERAL RELEVANCE of the VMAs have gone down the drain in the last 8 years or so, but the QUEEN brought the event into the headlines once again helping the ratings while doing it. Not only did she win several awards (adding her total to 18), gave inspirational speeches, got the Tricon award of being amazing, she delivered the first live performance of Chromatica tracks. I was living!

It was truly her night and it was praised by us fans and media and boosted the sales of Chromatica - the album climbed 64-34 on the US album chart.

Posted by: Santa Haus 21st December 2020, 05:49 PM

YES WHAT A WAY TO START

But wait, only #10!?!?!? THAT SHOWS HOW HIGH THE STANDARD IS I GUESS.

Honestly one of my favourite nights. I remember falling asleep, waking up to go to the toilet at ~4am and watching the highlights in the middle of the night and then not being able to sleep again rotf.gif

AMAZING START

Posted by: Sour Candy 21st December 2020, 05:50 PM

I have LOTS of personal memories attached to Gaga this year so this had to settle *just* scraping the chart biggrin.gif

Posted by: Santa Haus 21st December 2020, 05:51 PM

Why are there only 10 moments sob.gif You could've had 10000 moments from this iconic year kink.gif

Posted by: Sour Candy 21st December 2020, 05:57 PM

I know, I had to exclude at least two right away cry.gif

Posted by: Santa Haus 21st December 2020, 06:08 PM

I just rewatched the VMAs performance. What an absolute stomper wub.gif

Posted by: Jαsє 21st December 2020, 08:08 PM

The fact her incredible VMAs night is only #10 is testament to how many amazing moments she's had this year wub.gif

Posted by: Santa Haus 21st December 2020, 08:26 PM

Is this just the performance or the night as a whole? Gaga.png

Posted by: Sour Candy 22nd December 2020, 06:19 AM

It's the whole night so that's it for the VMAs on this countdown.

Posted by: Santa Haus 22nd December 2020, 09:07 AM

The fact that that's her only real live performance of the Chromatica era 😫😭😭😭😭😭😭

Posted by: Sour Candy 22nd December 2020, 10:59 AM

Basically yes, although this performance is ALMOST my fave laugh.gif

#09 'Stupid Love' leaks

I remember the exact moment when I heard Stupid Love for the first time. I was in London in January with one of my best friends and also a Gaga fan and we listened to the leak in our hotel room and were like... OH is this it? Will this be it? Is it sort of BOP?? 11 months later it is still the definition of BOP!

Posted by: Santa Haus 22nd December 2020, 04:37 PM

YESSSS <3 A great lead single for a fantastic era. We still bop to it regularly music.gif

Posted by: Santa Haus 22nd December 2020, 07:13 PM

My first memory of the Stupid Love leak is listening to a LQ stream that kept buffering rotf.gif i played it once with such a broken play and it was still stuck in my head for days after!

Posted by: Sour Candy 22nd December 2020, 07:14 PM

The quality of smash hit!

Posted by: Adelita 22nd December 2020, 07:30 PM

Even though Alice would be a better lead single for the album, Stupid Love fulfilled its role of becoming a worldwide hit.

Posted by: Santa Haus 22nd December 2020, 07:44 PM

It was such a great introduction to the era. Pure FUN and just what we needed in 2020 wub.gif

#08 The '911' music video

One of her best videos, directed by Tarsem Singh. I remember being like wtf when first watching it, but rewatched it several times right away. It's a sheer joy of ART and her passion to making it. HER MIND!!!! Fantastic!

#07 The Chromatica Interview with Zane Lowe

This was such a great journey to what Chromatica is, and what it represents a week before the album was released. It lasts an hour but have watched it like five times. A must see for every Gaga fan wub.gif

Posted by: Santa Haus 24th December 2020, 09:20 AM

A great interview! She talks with so much passion. Hope we get something similar for every era in the future <3

I hope the various Chromatica II memes have made your list Gaga.png

#06 I got to write an article about 'Rain on Me' and being a fan of Gaga

I have been known as one of the biggest Gaga fans in my country. But I was so happy to get to write about the Rain on Me, what the song and then upcoming album meant to me, about being a fan of Gaga and her kindness for YleX, the local equivalent of BBC Radio 1. The story: https://yle.fi/aihe/artikkeli/2020/05/29/kommentti-lady-gaga-ei-ole-vain-idoli-vaan-valitan-hanesta-kuin-ystavasta

Posted by: Santa Haus 25th December 2020, 12:31 PM

Such a great achievement! V proud of that~

Posted by: Sour Candy 25th December 2020, 12:38 PM

I was the first time I had really written about Gaga, opposed to *just* her music. It was a joy!

#05 The 'Rain on Me' video premiere

I remember logging into Youtube 15 minutes before the premiere and watching this together with a million Gaga stans right away. Totally adore the simple yet effective video and its cute, but powerful choreo. The symbolism with daggers combined to the lyrics: A MOMENT! Also KNEW that the song would go #1 on Hot 100. It just had that power!

What were your initial thoughts?

I knew from the beginning that this song would be #1 all over the world, a surefire hit!

Posted by: Santa Haus 26th December 2020, 04:48 PM

Absolute BEAST wub.gif

I remember listening to it when it premiered and then going for a run and returning to have it on repeat! The music video was chaotic - I was watching it live with some others off the site but my internet died :'( So I missed it live when it premiered and had to catch up on it shortly after drama.gif I cried uncontrollably during my first watch of the video; it's pure bliss wub.gif

Chromatica II was such a missed single opportunity Selena.png

Posted by: Santa Haus 27th December 2020, 12:16 AM

The video fills me with so many feels. Pure joy and sadness at the same time - I'm always a wreck drama.gif

#04 The release of 'Rain on Me'

I listened to Rain on Me in the morning it came out before going to work. The song was a complete "yaaaaas" moment right from the start. I just loved the throwback house vibe. I'm also a huge fan of Ariana and so happy of her being a part of the track. Both did a fantastic job. Zane Lowe knew when he said "just wow" biggrin.gif

Posted by: Santa Haus 27th December 2020, 09:57 AM

Iconic song. Still have undeniable love for it and every time I listen to it it's like the first time! heart.gif

#03 The Chromatica party in August

There was a brief moment in August in my country that bars were open and parties were arranged. A local house of drag arranged a Chromatica party where they played the album from start to finish. It was a blast of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People were dancing and singing to all the songs. Imagine 100 people shouting out the lyrics of Alice heart.gif

Posted by: Santa Haus 29th December 2020, 04:53 PM

That sounds incredible. OH HOW I MISS SOCIALISING AND CLUBBING especially with this music being out there sob.gif

I too had a Chromatica night out during that brief period where things opened up again. Was a night to remember (and forget half of cus a drunken mess x) tearsmile.gif

Posted by: Sour Candy 29th December 2020, 04:55 PM

I drank only a couple glasses of wine and then water because it was so hot. But yea, that has been the ONLY time so far I've heard Rain on Me when out in a bar.

Posted by: Santa Haus 29th December 2020, 04:57 PM

I had another non-themed trip to a club and they played Free Woman which was a moment, given it's such a huge favourite of mine wub.gif

#02 The Gaga party in February

I have been arranging some special club evenings for several iconic artists with a friend of mine. It started with Beyoncé 4 years ago, and we have done Madonna, Rihanna, David Bowie, Prince, Beyoncé again and Britney Spears since. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING have been even close to the ecstasy of hosting a Gaga party in February, just after Stupid Love was leaked and before the Covid-19 lockdown. Hundreds of people were singing and dancing to classics like Bad Romance, Poker Face and Marry the Night and Shallow was of course the last song. A night I will never forget wub.gif

The party must have been incredible & u look fine.

Posted by: Sour Candy 30th December 2020, 04:54 PM

Haha thanks, it was awesome! It was also incredibly warm night, so we could be partly outside.

Posted by: Santa Haus 30th December 2020, 06:01 PM

That looks INSANE! Also all the other artists you picked too - what a vibe *.*

Posted by: Sour Candy 30th December 2020, 06:03 PM

Yes!! So sad that we can't arrange any parties right now... Would love to do another Madonna or Gaga or perhaps Kylie or Queen or...

Posted by: Santa Haus 30th December 2020, 06:05 PM

:'( I miss clubbing so badly! No idea when I can be sweaty dancing like a mad monster to Gaga again </3

Posted by: Sour Candy 31st December 2020, 08:07 AM

And finally, the obvious highlight of the year...

#01 'Chromatica' was released
I stayed up until midnight and listened to it a few times right away. Words can't express how much I love the album and her vision here. It's pure bliss and one of her best piece of work to date. She's been through a lot and helped us to get through the 2020 heart.gif heart.gif heart.gif

That's it, that's my list!!! Happy New Year!! cheer.gif

Posted by: Santa Haus 31st December 2020, 10:39 AM

The only #1! Also my highlight of the year.

I did a group listen with several members on here and it was honestly the most chaotic and fun experience of the year. What a time to be alive.
