How do you see this going?

Posted by: Evil Houdini 28th June 2018, 09:51 PM

France will win this I think. I certainly hope so anyway after Argentina knocked us out on Tuesday! It will a close match but at the moment I'd go for a 2-1 win for France.

Posted by: Steve201 28th June 2018, 10:35 PM

France win for me but I would like to see Messi prevail cos I'm a soppy aul sod!!

Posted by: Rooney 28th June 2018, 11:09 PM

France to win quite comfortably. Would like to see Messi do really well, but he he can only carry a shite team so far.

Posted by: Dobbo 29th June 2018, 03:15 AM

I think France will win this with relative ease actually! They've not been great so far by any means but have never looked in any sort of trouble either, certainly the same can't be said for Argy!

Posted by: Crazy Chris 29th June 2018, 08:54 AM

Well I think the Argies will step up a gear and win this and knock France out. 2-0.

Posted by: The Snake 29th June 2018, 08:23 PM

I think France will just about win this but it will be close and is quite likely to go to extra time I think. France haven't played great either so far in the tournament.

Posted by: Mack. 29th June 2018, 09:29 PM

Hope France step up for this but think Argentina will find somehow a way to get through again.

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 02:07 PM

Could be a few yellows in this.

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 02:11 PM

Penalty to France. Rojo booked.

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 02:14 PM

And the penalty converted by Griezmann. 1-0 to France.

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 02:42 PM

What a rocket there from Di Maria.

Posted by: Iz 30th June 2018, 03:17 PM

Well, this is getting exciting. Both teams reacting very well to going behind. Nice match for a neutral.

Posted by: Dobbo 30th June 2018, 03:17 PM

Some game this is! 2 absolute screamers - living for this all out attacking tactics!

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 03:18 PM

Great goal there for France. 2-2 now. What a game this is.

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 03:22 PM

Mbappe finally getting a goal bearing any injuries he could be a factor for France in their hopes of winning the World Cup.

Posted by: Evil Houdini 30th June 2018, 03:24 PM

the knockout stage has well and truly arrived! I think they'll be more goals in this.

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 03:27 PM

Another good move from France. Mbappe again.

Posted by: Mart!n 30th June 2018, 03:27 PM

What a game, looks like Argentina are packing their bags biggrin.gif that goal by Pavard ohmy.gif

Posted by: Evil Houdini 30th June 2018, 03:40 PM

We could potentially see Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi going out of the World Cup on the same day!

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 03:50 PM

Messi was almost anonymous in this match apart from the second goal.

Until just then from that cross for Aguero to score.

Posted by: Suedehead2 30th June 2018, 03:54 PM

A few more matches like that please biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jason 30th June 2018, 03:55 PM

Adiós Messi w00t.gif laugh.gif

I think France and Brazil are the 2 biggest contenders to win this World Cup. tongue.gif

Posted by: Mack. 30th June 2018, 03:56 PM

Yes please can we have more of that. Thriller this was.

Posted by: Mart!n 30th June 2018, 03:59 PM

Best game of the tournament, Bappe is so good, France as a team really gelled in this match, some great goals in that match, Pavards' goal was quality.

Now I want Ronaldo and his team to pack their bags tonight.

Posted by: Suedehead2 30th June 2018, 04:04 PM

Maybe Hanson (pronounced the French way) will re-record their number one single as a tribute to Kylian Mbappé.

Posted by: Dobbo 30th June 2018, 04:09 PM

What a fantastic game! Scoreline isn't really reflective of the match as France completely dominated throughout but can we have all the KO games like this? teresa.gif

Looks like Messi will be retiring without ever having scored a knockout round goal at a World Cup, madness.

Very tough to call tonight's match, I'm leaning towards Portugal which would set up a tasty Euro 16 final grudge match in the QFs!

Posted by: Evil Houdini 30th June 2018, 04:14 PM

Pavard's goal is the best of the tournament so far I think, Di Maria's goal is a close 2nd. When Sergio Aguero scored in the 90th minute I got flashbacks of that infamous day in 2012 but I'm glad that France held on for the win. I wonder how Maradonna is feeling now? biggrin.gif

OTOH, if he'd scored we'd have had another 30 minutes to look forward to,

What a great game of football. France were deserved winners. I can now fit the last 20 overs of the cricket final at Lords in before watching Uruguay v Portugal.

Yeah that's true but Argentina probably would have gone on to win on penalties if they had made it 4-4 considering how lucky they've been.

Posted by: Chez Wombat 30th June 2018, 05:15 PM

Now that was the kind of match I like to see - a sense of urgency from both teams and none of that awful 'fluke a goal and then defend/waste time' strategy that I've been seeing too much of. Even in the dying minutes it looked like Argentina were still going for it despite being two goals down!

Best I've seen France play in a long time, looking much stronger to contend if they keep that performance up.

If Brazil get through they'll play France in the Quarters. Pity it can't be the Final.

I think the quarters will be (Brazil or Mexico) x (Belgium or Japan). Right?

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 30th June 2018, 05:56 PM

Nacho's similar goal was better than Pavard's as it went in off the post

Yes

Didn't see the game but sounds like it was a cracker! This is why it's too early to write teams off who have not looked good in the Group Stages yet but have got the results.. pleased for Mpabbe, I tipped him to be top scorer, doesn't look like it will happen, but what a way to announce yourself on the world stage.

Who? tongue.gif

Yeah it was a fantastic game, Kylian Mbappé had a good spell and the fact that it could have easily made 4-4 made this a thrilling watch for a neutral. Sadly I have to root against France in the QFs as Uruguay are my sweepstake team.

Yes, sorry I was wrong.

Posted by: Evil Houdini 30th June 2018, 11:00 PM

I think if France maintain this level of performance they will win the World Cup. On this evidence they would be more than a match for Brazil or any other team left in the tournament.

Haha spell checker! The guy is unreal though when he is in the groove. Posting similar stats to Messi at the same age so certainly has the potential.

Seemed like a changing of the guard today as Mbappe came through and Messi exited the world
Cup stage for possibly the last time!
