OMG you were there too?! If only we knew what each other looked like to say hey :lol;

She was super sweet and just came across so genuine! Where about were you when she was performing?

So we were on like the back of the barriers, as it was friends daughters first time seeing someone live so didn’t wanna but in the middle
Of the crowd bless her, but like directly looking at the stage. Where were you?

Ahh amazing, hope your friend enjoyed it! I was third row at the centre looking direct at the stage too! So you more than likely saw me laugh.gif

Got my CD of it yesterday! #2 is still amazing for it and she did very well so im sure she's happy with that!

Ranking of the tracklist:
(the top 3 are interchangeable for #1 lol!)

1 Oscar Winning Tears.
2. Ice Cream Man.
3. Escapism. (ft. 070 Shake)
4. Buss It Down.
5. Worth It.
6. Black Mascara.
7. Hard Out Here.
8. Environmental Anxiety.
9. Mary Jane.
10. Body Dysmorphia.
11. The Thrill Is Gone.
12. Flip A Switch.
13. Five Star Hotels. (ft. Mahalia)

every song is an 8/10 or higher, and this was such a challenge! I think its already shaping up to be one of my Albums of the Year! ohmy.gif

Given this a listen now - this somehow manages to sound like a surprisingly cohesive album despite almost every song feeling like it's going into a different genre! My immediate highlights from the album tracks are 'Environmental Anxiety.' (chef's kiss production), 'Ice Cream Man.' (definitely the most standout song lyrically on here, very powerful) and 'Five Star Hotels.' (a banger). 'Flip A Switch.' is a bit of a tune too, similar kind of 00s R&B throwback to what FLO are doing, I can definitely see why that one's been pushed to Hot Hits as I think that's the one that most sounds like a hit from the album tracks (although happy that 'Ice Cream Man.' was the one that charted so far anyway instead!) and 'Oscar Winning Tears.' was a strong opening track that I can see being a grower too, I've seen a few people comparing this album to Amy Winehouse which I mostly don't really see but I do think that song fits the bill.

It does lose me a bit towards the end with the last couple of more R&B/soul type tracks which start to feel a little bit Poundland Beyoncé but overall a very solid debut, and 'Escapism.' is still an absolute triumph of a song. 'Hard Out Here.' and 'Black Mascara.' both sounded better than ever hearing them on the album as well (though I'm still not really that keen on 'The Thrill Is Gone.')

I chased my personalised signed CD/Tape from Banquet and got the below response:

QUOTE
Sorry for the delay here, Raye has had to take away some of the albums to personalise in her own time - we've had to fit these signings around her busy schedule. Signed and personalised tapes will be sent as soon as they arrive with us, we're just waiting for them to come back to us. You'll get an automated email as soon as those have shipped from here, sorry for the wait.

I've heard a remix for Flip A Switch is coming, it was originally supposed to be Normani but her label blocked her

Why is that the least surprising sentence ever.

I think it definitely makes sense to push that next with a remix, it sounds like a hit to me.

Such a powerful video with a very strong message behind it. When I first I heard the song on the album, I wondered what her plans were with its inclusion and I'm glad that she's been able to share her story and use her independence now as a platform to encourage others to talk about their experiences. The song speaks volumes.

The part in the video where the hands were grabbing hold of her made my skin crawl. Props to RAYE for doing this and being brave in self-directing the video. This era/campaign has been nothing but stunning.

I heard this album live on Wednesday night at the Roundhouse and oh my god she was incredible. shes for sure a vocalist, not just a singer. she was absolutely incredible! in the middle there was a section where she took off her shirt and trousers and performed Body Dysmorphia. and Ice Cream Man. in just her pants and bra which really emphasised the meanings of those songs. She also did a solo-piano segment in the middle in which she sang Secrets, You Don't Know Me, Natalie Dont, Sober and Bed (which she said was her least favourite song she's put out kink.gif ) it was such a brilliant night and she was an incredible performer, and ofc escapism popped the f*ck OFF!!!! such a perfect finale! and overall the best concert i've been to for sure!

Coi Leray is really getting around, isn't she?

Hopefully it can give her another decent-sized hit!

the original is already so good, i dont feel the remix adds much (except an awesome cover art) but it doesnt take anything away either so i think its really good!
