I shall move to r&b because that's where (I believe?) all her other topics are.

QUOTE
The level of thought, precision and referencing for her new album is off the charts. The theme? Dance. At home with her in her recording studio, I was given the chance to listen. In what might be her most ambitious musical project to date, the culture-shifting, Grammy-dominating Queen Bee of all she surveys has trained her considerable artillery on America’s musical soundscape of the late 20th century…

Beyoncé had taken to messaging me as we brainstormed the direction of her shoot. A fashion fantasia spun from the tropes of club life during the last century’s final quarter. She then asked me if I wanted to hear her new music. As someone who first saw her perform live with Destiny’s Child 23 years ago, a moment’s walk from my family home when the group played at the Notting Hill Carnival in 1999, I can feel the tingling excitement build as we make our way to her home recording studio. With minimal ceremony, she takes her laptop and plugs it in as we all sit on some sofas. Quietly, the superstar hits play on her upcoming album.Instantly, a wall of sound hits me. Soaring vocals and fierce beats combine and in a split second I’m transported back to the clubs of my youth. I want to get up and start throwing moves. It’s music I love to my core. Music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul. As ever with Beyoncé, it is all about the intent. I sit back, after the wave, absorbing it all.

I am not ready

A Beyoncé album actually announced in advance? Surely not!

Glad that she's dropping the whole Tidal exclusive thing. Her music has always been hit or miss for me up to and including 'Lemonade' ('Hold Up' is still one of her worst songs ever for me and I also didn't particularly like 'Formation', but I did enjoy the other songs I heard from the era more) but of course a new Beyoncé album is always going to be a big moment so cautiously optimistic to hear this especially after such a long wait since the last (solo) album.

'Hold Up' really is inexcusable, I liked everything on the album except that one song. It still boggles my mind how it became the biggest song from it.

OMG! So excited for this album. The British Vogue description of the music has got me so hyped!!!

Glad she’s going for a traditional release this time around. Could we get the lead single next week Friday?

Interesting she isn’t doing a surprise drop this time around. I really thought that would be their thing now especially as their last two projects have been whole album experiences. She’s definitely still big enough to be able to do that successfully but with a more traditional type release her first week sales may just be that bit higher than they would’ve been. She’ll no doubt get a ton of pre orders and I can imagine streaming wise she’ll do very well if she is on all streaming sites this time around which I imagine she will be.

Musically I’ve never been a massive fan. Can’t fault them as a vocalist or performer it’s just the material itself what’s very much hit or miss with me but I think I’ll give this a go. I remember one of my predictions of 2022 when that thread was around last year was that Beyoncé would have the best seller of the year here by an international female so I’m intrigued to see if that comes true.

Also.. I’m guessing this will still be a visual album just with a lead single this time around. IIRC actually Formation dropped before Lemonade didn’t it?

It's going to annoy me every time I hear the title because it's said so differently in the US to how I'd say it tearsmile.gif

Hyped for this though. Admittedly, Lemonade is really not an album I hold in high regard now but self-titled is one of the best ever so I'm hoping it is more of the latter!
