BuzzJack Music Forum _ Gaming and Internet _ Old console games that you still play

Are there any console or computer games that you still play and they still work which you have played for a long time or not or consider your old favourite that you have to play again.

Mine would be:

Grand Prix 3- The original 1998 F1 season by Geoff Crammond.
Football Manager 2005
FIFA 2001

Formula 1 97 on the Playstation

Omg my brother was obsessed with this game so I have played it a few times due to that!

Some childhood games that have stuck with me over the years are Sims 2 (and accompanying expansion packs + stuff packs) and Tomb Raider games on PC, then also Hamtaro: Ham Ham Heartbreak on Gameboy! laugh.gif blush.gif Any kind of Mario, Pokémon or Sonic games are always fun too.

Coincidentally we went over to a family friends' this weekend and their kids were all playing Mario Kart on the Wii - made me feel so nostalgic laugh.gif

I also used to play the 2010 World Cup game on the Wii as well, the best FIFA game ever for the Wii because there were loads of extra features - there was a 'Build Your Team' kind of feature where you started off with players from countries that didn't qualify and then you had to play every team that qualified and if you completed certain challenges you got to steal a player for your team. The commentary was so good as well, it knew all he player's names, even like the Bolivian reserves kink.gif

Final Fantasy 7 and 8, two of the best games ever made

Does COD MW2 count? laugh.gif

It’s only 8 years old but still... it’s amazing.

Brain Training, Nintendogs, Cooking Mama 2 and the Tamagotchi game were all goals on Nintendo DS back in the day xo

You can count that, cqmerqn.

That is a good game for sure. Still play it often.

I'm currently playing Crash Twinsanity *.*

Oh me and my brother love playing 'Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves' on PS2 at our grandma's house, and also Wii Play, Wii Fit or the Just Dance games occasionally laugh.gif

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 1st October 2017, 05:08 PM

Oh yeah, also when I was about 9/10 my dad introduced me to his PS1 so I spent HOURS playing Crash Bandicoot, Worms and Croc wub.gif

Omg I played that game so much and enjoyed it more than I should've. x

Posted by: T Boy 1st October 2017, 05:14 PM

Any Tomb Raider, Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. Simpson Road Rage and sometimes the Sims Bustin Out.

I like my Sega Classics game for PS3 particularly Streets of Rage and Golden Axe.

Wish I had all my Nintendo games from 1993 tho.

Old games>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>whatever kids play these days.

Not all strictly console games (I've always primarily been a PC gamer although I've got a few console games now- didn't have a console until well into my teens though) but I played A Bugs Life: Action Game to death when I was little. LEGO island was amazing too. Lots of educational games as well (that were more fun than educational at times oops) but I don't remember all their names. Star Wars: Jedi Knight Outcast was/ is so so good as well as Star Wars: Battlefront II (the original Lucas Arts game, not the extortionate remake that doesn't tell anyone it's a remake. mad.gif )

Total Annihilation Kingdoms and Star Trek: Armada II were my introduction to RTS games (they're AMAZING) and later the fantastic Lord Of The Rings Battle For Middle Earth and the even better sequel/ expansion (BFME II + BFME II: The Rise Of The Witchking). I've played a lot of older games more recently such as Half Life and the like.

Tbh yes, and that's not just seeing things through rose tinted glasses. Older games didn't have to always be online and 4 player split screen on consoles was common. Amongst that and the ridiculous hiking of prices for new releases and more focus on pretty shiny graphics and rehashing the same game to death (*cough* COD *cough* FIFA) rather than story and competent game-play with a decent amount of content. Hell, these days lots of games aren't really finished when they're released and instead of patches being released to fix issues you have to BUY DLCs to fix the issues.

What I don't like about most current games is there's just SO MUCH involvement and dedication required particularly online games, you can't "pause" or whatever and the health implications can be undesired :/ also there's so much information about the games you need to know to be any good at them. +1 to the classic PS1/2 games >>>>>

Road Rage as the best - especially Lisa’s level! I don’t have fond memories of receiving the game as a present - my Nan spent most of Christmas Day complaining how dear it was and completely not worth the money. Ten year old me was heartbrokenly thankful for it though none the less.

Battlefront I was going to be my post in here - the addition of space battles and a more complex galactic conquest were welcomed in II!

I bought Anniversary release of Pokemon Gold for my 2DS last week, been playing it so much since! heart.gif

Posted by: Liаm 2nd October 2017, 12:12 AM

Pokemon of course, never gets old wub.gif Especially as it's so hackable so there re loads of fan-made games that accentuate the old experiences a bit. Gold, Silver and Crystal can f*** off though, always hated Gen 2 and think it's the most overrated period of the series by MILES.

Also I got a tablet recently made for emulating old games, so I'm replaying the Spyro series at the moment! I so need a PS4 remaster of the original trilogy like they did with Crash but idk now that Activision has the license for tht Skylander shite. I'm a Playstation boy at heart so other faves would be:

Ratchet & Clank
Simpsons Hit & Run
Crash Bandicoot's original trilogy
Tomb Raider
Jak & Daxter
Speed Freaks (amaze kart racer that I at the time preferred to say Mario Kart or Crash Nitro Kart lmao)
The first three Harry Potter games
Croc

Jak and Daxter was not good, but the second and third, especially the second, were the best platformers I ever played wub.gif

Posted by: Poked Pumpkin 2nd October 2017, 12:25 AM

Along with Spyro of course

Posted by: Liаm 2nd October 2017, 12:29 AM

I meant the series in general, the second is definitely the best! The first is still good but a tad overrated for me for the reception it gets compared to others in the series. I'm replaying it on PS4 atm and it does get a bit tedious if you play it for too long.

Posted by: Poked Pumpkin 2nd October 2017, 12:38 AM

And too hard in places - especially the jumpin sequence in the last level! Took me 2 years to get past it.

The second is unbelievable for a Ps2 title, one of the best. I was AMAZED playing it when I got it for my birthday. It is just epic. The third was good too, really good, but a little difficult and more, well, sandy and less epic.

Posted by: Liаm 2nd October 2017, 12:40 AM

The jumping is ridic in places, even in one of the first bits at the beach and you have to do the roll jump to get to that idol thing, why can't you just double jump like every other game? laugh.gif

Posted by: Poked Pumpkin 2nd October 2017, 12:42 AM

Glad they fixed it for the second and third!

It was really hard. Even Assassin's Creed has easier jumping levels!

I've just bought a load of cables for my old playstation just so I can play Panzer General again, even though there are free online emulators for it.

Plus MW2 I agree is brilliant and I believe being remastered too

Spyro 2, Spyro 3, Crash Bandicoot 3, Crash Team Racing, Tekken 3. You know the classics.

Posted by: Dexton 4th March 2018, 02:52 PM

Not console, but I’ve still got Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis for PC which I come back to every so often (sometimes with mods too tongue.gif). Remains one of my alltime favourite PC games as it actually got me into other sim games/parkbuilders like Zoo Tycoon, Tropico, and Sims. Incredibly hyped for Jurassic World Evolution although im not sure if my laptop will be able to handle it tongue.gif

Posted by: HarryEzra 5th March 2018, 03:10 PM

I don't play much now due to it not being on my computer anymore but I was obsessed with Zoo Tycoon (the first one) on PC.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 6th March 2018, 09:41 PM

I've been playing Gain Ground on an old Sega plug and play console for years, I've never got particularly far but it's a lot of fun.

Posted by: Hayzayy 23rd March 2018, 01:42 PM

FF7-8-9 I play them a lot !

Posted by: Mack. 3rd April 2018, 02:36 PM

I managed to find my old Zoo Tycoon computer game during the Easter holidays. That bought back some memories.

If you haven't already, check out Sonic Mania that came out last year (you can get it on Steam) - it's like the classic 90s Sega Megadrive Sonic games we all loved! Very nostalgic and a true follow up to Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

I bought the Super Nintendo mini classic a few weeks ago. And I can’t believe I remember all the hidden places on Super Mario World and Donkey Kong.
