How far are Mariah and Paloma away from no.1??
Glad Rita didn't get no.1 with THAT fall, woulda been a non-no.1!
Screaming that Leona is finally coming for post-release year top 40 and Ariana is finally top 40. I hope both can climb before Friday.
31-40
31 Ramz - Barking *
33 Ariana Grande - Santa Tell Me *
34 Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson - Symphony ^
35 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep ^
NO WAY!!!
GO LEONA!!!
That deserves to be a Christmas classic!!!
This could be the year that Chris Rea improves on the peak position for 'Driving Home For Christmas', #26 always seems far too low for that song.
Half of the official top 40 singles chart is awashed with Christmas songs hopefully some will drop fast later in the week.
Amazing how Rak-Su have held up! Imagine them finishing around #5 this week with streaming picking up gradually (a first for an X Factor Winner's Single) and sales on iTunes only falling slowly.
Sorry for double post but yessssss at Ramz, Ariana and Leona (and Clean Bandit)! (lemme not get too excited with exclamation marks ) Streaming really is a new force to be reckoned with!
Sales are added with the updates.
Actually it was last year that Chris Rea got to #26, it peaked at #53 in the year of Release (1988). Good to see it improving year-on-year.
Top 100 Singles
1 Ed Sheeran - Perfect 23,362
2 Rak-Su feat. Wyclef Jean & Naughty Boy - Dimelo 13,028
3 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You 12,724
Poor Mariah, so far from no.1
An poor Paloma too, same thing. Sam Smith for no.1 then!
I am so pleased Leona is in the Top 40 again, this has all the makings of a Christmas classic.
Could you put the correct figure for P!nk please?
1 Ed Sheeran - ÷ 29,877
2 Sam Smith - The Thrill Of It All 26,998
3 P!nk - Beautiful Trauma 26,998
(unless this is the correct figure and Sam sold the same as her)
That Chart is beautiful *_*
Jona Lewie cracking the top 40 would make my year!
Awww delighted for our Leona!
Great to see Leona at #35 in the midweeks - I hope she can climb further. Guessing she'll be able to go top 20 this year at this rate *_*
Surprised to see P!nk and Paloma at #3 & #4 in the album chart
Leona re-entering the top 40 at last! Hopefully it manages to remain top 40 this week and only climbs from now til Christmas.
Hopefully Kelly will re-enter too at some point and climb higher than #30.
What's so wrong with Christmas songs clogging up the charts in December?? I'm sick of the lack of Christmas songs that appear..... the more the merrier! At least listening to the charts will feel like Christmas as it should! ..... a Christmas song might actually get Christmas number 1 God forbid! 😂🎄
Is it time to do a separate catalogue singles chart? If iTunes switch off downloads in the next year or two, the top 40 is going to be completely dominated by Christmas songs every December.
It doesn't even mean anything. It's just people going to Spotify's Christmas playlist and hitting play. Kurt Nilsen and 98 Degrees are in the top 100 for goodness sake!
If they did a Christmas chart, for 11 months of the year it'd be pointless. Plus if that's what everyone is listening to in December, the main chart should reflect that. It's only for 1 month of the year anyway. Long shall they remain!
EDIT: too slow
YES ARIANA
Paloma is doing amazingly. I know she's always been a consistent and strong album seller but for the first time not one of the singles has made a particularly big impact so I was unsure if the album would just slide away quicker.
If it can stay in the top 10 over Christmas that should give it some bumper sales!
To be fair, Crybaby was a big sales hit
Paloma being at #4 is surely nothing to frown upon?
It is looking like we will see new peaks for Step Into Christmas, Buble's It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas and Holly Jolly Christmas, Driving Home for Christmas, Santa Tell Me, Happy Xmas (War is Over), and Kylie's Santa Baby, all with another whole chart week before Christmas. I'd love to see Elton's Step Into Christmas finally break the top 20.
It is wonderful to see some Christmas songs on track for a new career peak, i am really enjoying this. I also believe Mariah Carey could be on for matching her original peak position this week and wonderful to see Leona Lewis on tracj to enter the top 40.
Wonderful to see Ed Sheeran looking like returning to the album number 1, he has his Strictly Come Dancing Promotion coming up to which will drive sales even further for him next week.
Great to see Paloma Faith on the increase too.
Wheres craig david and bastille please?
Would be an nightmare if you had to listen to the chart if you were a JW.
But people will bitch and moan about this with too many Xmas songs in the Top40.
There are too many there you go, I said it.
Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate Christmas though, and the stricter ones won't involve themselves at all with it. My Mum used to work with one who would refuse to take Christmas cards to the postroom even if she was going there anyway.
YES Leona and YES Ariana. Christmas Queens.
Leona and Ariana to be this generation's Christmas icons! Ladies who can singgggg. ignore me and my festive spirit and cheer!
Paloma's deluxe version is the same price as the standard version in HMV. Which is probably enticing the more casual buyer. Really happy with her album doing so well though
Is Kylie Santa Baby still on ACR?
Regardless great she is at 60. Massive Spotify plays in the latest update.
We just have to deal with Christmas songs clogging up the charts although I find it annoying too. Once it’s Boxing Day, Christmas songs will stop or hardly get streamed
The problem I have with it is that for an entire month nothing else is even going to get a look in, and it's only going to get worse year-on-year.
I'm here for it tbh. It's only 2/3 weeks. I feel like it gets everyone in the festive mood And I'm pleased the likes of Ariana and Leona are starting to get up there with the classics with their own original hits. Hopefully Kelly can re enter the top 40 at some point this year!
Yes,Greg Lake's one is my favourite Christmas song.
How John Lennon & Yoko Ono's Cats In A Bag Being Thrown Against A Wall are getting so high is beyond me. There must be more constructive ways to make your ears bleed?
Great to see kylie heading for a new peak,I hope she can go top 40 this year.
shouldn't the chart reflect just whats most popular each week.. though a limit on the number of tracks from an act i think is necessary per week. i think Sunday's big snow probably helped the Xmas songs
Ed Sheeran's is releasing anoother version of Perfect this week. This tim featuring Andrea Bocelli, I wonder will he be credited....
So I guess we'll be getting new versions of Perfect for eternity then. I always suspected the end of the world would take place during my lifetime, I just didn't think it would happen so soon.
Bocelli won't be credited either of course.
just a thought, if the occ doesn't do something
could Mariah's all I Want for XMas, be #1, EVERY YEAR!!!!!???!!!! Like we could have the xmas #1 sorted forever
Who tf is Andrea Bocelli?
ignorance is bliss
Absolute classic Leona heading back to the top 40 where it belongs. Now all it needs is Kelly to join it. Nation's sweetheart Ariana there too. Best Christmas ever.
Yass go on Mariah!!!!
I believe Liam's doing the update but in the meantime... Mariah Carey looks set to return to her original peak of #2 *_*

Bing Actual Crosby returning to the top 40 too. *_* Although this update is quite skewed towards Christmas songs which benefit well from the weekend effect, so he may not make it. Would be quite something to hear a song from 1942 being played on Radio 1 though.
Clean bandit symphony out top 40 today update
Is the most wonderful time of the year I thought Michael Bublé
Any update for U2’s Song of experiences, thanks
Is Havana set to climb in sales this week and avoid ACR or is it likely to drop
Rak-Su are holding up better than what Matt Terry and Louisa Johnson did
Don’t know what to make of Mariah repeaking at no2. I remember when she got there in the 90s but it seems bit crazy that she might end up at no2 again this week after all these years and largely down to streaming. It doesn’t seem right but at least the X factor winner has dropped!
Leona dropping
Omg Brenda Lee top50!!
Why isn't Darlene Love top50?? Where is Darlene Love?? Christmas CLASSIC
Could I have the latest midweek chart position for 'Christmas' by Elvis and the RPO album please.
Many Thanks.
Brian
#9
:lol:at it being busier here than the iTunes thread has this happened before
Good to see Mariah at 2 could it have been her week if the remix of perfect didn’t exist
Had hoped Leona Lewis would have moved up the chart today and not dropped
The reverse, wonderful to see Mariah up to number 2 and Band Aid number 12, i would greatly welcome Band Aid returning to the Top 10. Elton John is showing signs to finally get the song into the top 20.
Ed Sheeran looks very set to return to the top and i remain impressed with Pink and Paloma Faiths performances this week.
Does anyone know what position Kylie Minogue's Santa Baby is in today's update?
Kylie is just outside the top 50.
I hope NF is at #11 and I hope he goes top 10
really hope that Let you Down song doesn't go further, shows shows how you can buy yourself a hit in the charts these days ;/ should be renamed the Payola song, the label pays spotify a lot of € and spotify puts an unknown song no one knows in all key palylists and even #1 on hot hits, I wouldn't be surprised if spotify commissioned the song
On the other hand, it's not like it's doing NOTHING on sales, so not all of the 100% of its success comes from the payola.

Leona is going to miss top 40 again
Ed coming for 75k!
Top 30 all over 30k we are in the centre of the gift season now - no surprise to see Human nudge Paloma out of the top 5 so far!
Where's Gwen?
Are u2 still at 19?thanks
'Christmas' by Elvis and the RPO album remains at 9 on the Wednesday Midweek update.
Brian
Where is Sia single and album?
Yeh I really can't see anything breaking 100k on xmas week for what must be the first time ever!
It wouldn’t surprise me if Mariah ends up at no1 in the singles next week - Christmas week. Ed’s sales are down quite a bit from last week & Mariah is streaming strong which is likely to continue into next week.
Or Wham!
It's 30k behind in streams today and top 10 combined on iTunes .
Pretty unbelievable that if Ed didn't exist, Mariah would actually be #1 23 years later. It will still probably happen one way or another any year now anyway.
It's just an error I think - Ball/Boe dominated the albums last year!
Seeing as Camila was at #46 on Monday’s update, I was expecting her to climb a bit and maybe scrape into the top 40 on Friday
Almost half of the Top 40 is made up of Christmas songs, for the first time in a long while right?
If it wasn't for Ed Sheean re-releasing a single, Mariah Carey would be number one this week and probably Christmas number one next week, crazy times!
Eminem's album has leaked and is said to be very good. Think good sales.
Ed Sheeran ruining Mariahs chance of finally having AIWFC as #1 has gotta be the biggest chart travesty ever. Poor Queen of Christmas!
Would be so exciting if Adele released her Fastlove cover tomorrow!
I'd love that. We'd get a proper race to Christmas number one like back in the good ol' days instead of it just being a certain Ed Sheeran victory. Plus I'd love to see the smug look on his face if he loses.
if adele releases, there will be no competition, her cover of fast love will be massive
especially since i read it could be a charity single for the Grenfell Tower victims
For what it's worth I'd prefer Mariah to be Xmas #1 over Ed Sheeran or Adele. As much as I like Ed, I don't like the way he's gone about getting the Xmas #1, it feels like such a cynical ploy with the Beyonce remix. And if Adele did release tomorrow (which I highly doubt she will) that would feel just as cynical. I prefer more organic Xmas #1s, 'Stay Another Day' being possibly the most perfect example of that.
Mariah will definitely get to number one in the next few years. Her streaming is so strong - on a year when Xmas day falls on a Wednesday she'll have a massive chance.
asap
why would adele releasing tomorrow be cynical? then all songs and artists aiming at #1 are cynical too
Thanks - very impressive sales!
Isn't Ed Sheeran releasing a version of "Perfect" with Andrea Bocelli as well tomorrow? I would love Adele to release her "Fastlove" cover and beat him to Christmas #1. Will be interesting to see how the Wham campaign does though, could surprise!

Adele is a rare type of A Lister we get these days, She always puts people before her and so down to earth and she really truly deserves her success not only as a talented artist but the fantastic person she is
Did East 17 have much promo that week in terms of tv or signings?
Adele could release at midnight next Wed. and still be No.1 by a mile on Friday!!!
