Top 100 for the 5th September 2020
Pete's Chart Commentary Dec is back up to #1 this week in a very hotly contested Top 3 - his new album came out yesterday so expect that to make an impact this time next week. Bastille and JUNG climb to new peaks, and Marsicans and Roosevelt enter what feels like a very indie-centric Top 10. Lower down, three new entries prevent any songs from climbing into the Top 40 - these come from The Knocks, who are used to having Top 10 hits, and The Struts and Vistas who have both racked up their third Top 40 hit here. Lots of random songs entering lower down in a week with not too many notable releases, the biggest song to enter being Dua's 'Hallucinate' whih finally hit me this week after being featured on Tour de France coverage. 1 [2] Declan McKenna - Be An Astronaut (1-2-2-1-) 2 [1] The Knocks & MUNA - Bodies (23-6-1-1-2-) 3 [5] Bastille - WHAT YOU GONNA DO??? Hi Pete! Great to see Declan back up to #1, I'm just giving the album a listen while writing this - really enjoying it! And I'm finding that a lot of the singles are sounding better in the context of it all.
Great to see The Struts and Vistas debut in your top 40, both are in my top 10! The Struts in particular was a real pleasant surprise, I've been a fan for a while and I'm glad it seems they're switching their sound up a bit on this one. Some interesting collaborations on the rest of the album as well... Another pleasant surprise for me was also NEEDTOBREATHE's new album! 'Hang On' will likely make my chart next week I think. What I like about them is you can hear their Christian influence which I appreciate, but it isn't too over-the-top or "in your face" like I find with a lot of Christian bands Great chart! |

Replying to last week's barrage of comments:
Hi Pete! MUNA and Declan are a great top 2! I've listened to some of your new entries, really liking that KAWALA song! Glad you like these songs! I had KAWALA in my Top 10 about half a year ago but completely forgot about them until now, Animals really is a tune. Thanks Ansel! Hi Pete! I like seeing "Tick Tock" in the debuting in the top 40! Under the top 40, it's nice to see "Alane" and "Chew On My Heart"! Great chart! Glad you like these songs! Tick Tock looking to be a big hit officially now which is great to see. Thanks Sergej! Hi Pete, Nice new entry from Lukas Graham Jung Top 10 Paul Woolford climbing and Clean Bandit a new entry in the Top 40 Bubbling under nice new tracks from Robin Schulz and James Bay Glad you like all these songs! I do really like the James Bay song, it's just whenever I hear the title I imagine someone chewing on my heart... nope Thanks Sven! Hi Pete. Nice to see 'Looking for Me' and 'Tick Tock' enter your chart. Definitely two of the best tracks in the official charts at the minute Another great chart! Yes, definitely - hope they can both go Top 10 in the coming weeks. Thanks Frenchie! Hi Pete! Hoping Declan will be able to make it to #1 sometime in the coming weeks! Good to see Kawala in the top 40 now, I've been liking that one for a while. Good stuff overall! He's back at #1 now As I said above, I was a big fan of 'Play It Right' and then completely forgot they existed so nice to hear some more from them. Thanks Whoddy! Hi Pete! Love to see Polar Bears in the top 10. Great message and a nice music video as well! Loose Change needs to be higher Better late than never for Alane which is a great remake! Hopefully Chew On My Heart will gain height soon! Loose change is higher As is Chew on My Heart, but I can't forgive that mental image he's left me with. I need to watch the Polar Bears music video as well. Thanks Jack! Hi Pete, I've liked previous The Knocks stuff, msut check that out! Like that Blur track, I mean Bastille! Oopsey! Ditto Travis. Ben Dolic having a fab chart run Little Jinder, Prince Rama good newies from you-know-where goodun Bodies is a tune, definitely give it a listen. Glad you're a fan of all these other songs as well, Little Jinder looking to spend a little more time in my chrt as well. Thanks John! those two are great choices for being the two chart hits in your top 40, I'm really loving Looking For Me, and Tick Tock is decent enough for Clean Bandit. Alane is rather good too, that made my own top 40 but it's out of my chart now. Glad you're a fan of these! I have to say I want to be a bigger fan of Alane than I am, it isn't grabbing me as much as I want it to. Maybe it'll grow though - thanks Dan! Hi Pete! Looking forward to seeing what charts from Declan's album when it's finally released on Friday I'm liking your bottom two new entries - that Paul Woolford song is hands down one of my favourite dance songs of the year! Hope it can manage to go Top 10 at some point. And I didn't initially think much of the Clean Bandit but it's growing on me the more I listen to it. Good stuff You should really start with 'Kissing In The Wind' which came out late last year... best thing I've heard from them for a VERY long time You'll have to wait another week to see which Declan songs chart - on first listen I think all bar one will make it in. Will need to give Kissing in the Wind a listen then - thanks Mango! |

Hey Pete!
I'm really liking that new Vistas track - probably better than anything that was on their album which I thought was a bit over-rated tbh. What's that new Struts song? I didn't realise they'd released anything other than the Robbie Williams collab (which I love) - I'm a big fan of both of their previous albums so I'll have to check out that new song ASAP! Looking forward to the Declan takeover next week - it's a solid album |

yay for Hallucinate finally entering, it's almost been and gone for me twice now.
Never Let Me Down was a top 20 in my chart not too long ago too! |
