That's an interesting idea. It would be an eye opener for me, certainly.

National compilation for any country (which is not UK / US). That is a good idea, back in 2010 I made a 100 Hits: Sweden, clearly it would be a lot stronger now with 14 years more to pool from, as well as a deeper knowledge of music that came earlier, but this is what it looked like back then: Disc 1 1. Agnes - Release Me 2. Alcazar - Stay The Night 3. Robyn with Kleerup - With Every Heartbeat 4. Charlotte Perrelli - Hero 5. Salem Al Fakir - Keep On Walking 6. The Cardigans - Erase/Rewind 7. The Sound of Arrows - M.A.G.I.C. 8. Ace Of Base - Life Is A Flower 9. Roxette - Listen To Your Heart 10. ABBA - The Winner Takes It All 11. Carola - Invincible 12. One More Time - Den Vilda 13. Eric Prydz - Pjanoo 14. September - Cry For You 15. Timoteij - Kom 16. Basshunter - All I Ever Wanted 17. Blank feat Young Ivy - I'm Going For Your Brother 18. Sanna Nielsen - Nobody Without You 19. Staygold feat Spank Rock, Lady Tigra and Damien Adore - Backseat 20. Sheelah - Psycho Disc 2 1. Europe - The Final Countdown 2. Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe 3. Dr Alban - It's My Life 4. Axwell - I Found U 5. Swedish House Mafia - One (Your Name) 6. Malena Ernman - La Voix 7. Caroline Af Ugglas - Snalla Snalla 8. Erik Hassle - Hurtful 9. Meja - All 'Bout The Money 10. Emilia - Big Big World 11. Markoolio & Linda Bengtzing - Varsta Schlagern 12. Lucky Twice - Lucky 13. BWO - Lay Your Love On Me 14. Mans Zelmerlow - Cara Mia 15. E.M.D. - Baby Goodbye 16. Darin feat KatDeLuna - Breathing Your Love 17. A*Teens - Upside Down 18. Caroline Jonsson - By My Side 19. Elin Lanto - Funeral 20. Jenny Berggren - Here I Am Disc 3 1. Anna Bergendahl - This Is My Life 2. Fame - Give Me Your Love 3. Friends - Listen To Your Heartbeat 4. Cecilia Vennersten - Det Vackraste 5. Ola - Natalie 6. Lazee feat Neverstore - Hold On 7. Jill Johnson - Crazy In Love 8. Sarah Dawn Finer - I Remember Love 9. Amy Diamond - Thank You 10. The Sounds - Painted By Numbers 11. Andreas Johnson - Glorious 12. The Poodles - Night Of Passion 13. H.E.A.T. - 1000 Miles 14. P-Bros feat DJ Trexx & Olga Pratilova - Tingaliin 15. Eric Saade - Manboy 16. Gathania - Blame It On You 17. Lena Philipsson - It Hurts 18. The Ark - The Worrying Kind 19. No Leila K - Electric, gooddelta!? Would be good after Dr Alban - It's My Life as its like a faster version of its production.
I didn't know that the Cardigans were Swedish! 'Be Mine!' is my favourite of Robyn's songs I think! This post has been edited by TheSnake: 21st December 2023, 04:33 PM |

No, I guess I wasn't aware of the song at the time. Got To Get I should have included though.
Obviously Loreen would be on here twice now. I love the fact 2010 me didn't kick off with ABBA. This post has been edited by gooddelta: 21st December 2023, 05:03 PM |

Yaki-Da - I Saw You Dancing
Almost 50 million views on Youtube. Possibly 90-95 % are from Russians. I don't know why this flop (# 32 in Sweden) became an insane hit in my country. This post has been edited by Last Dreamer: 21st December 2023, 09:33 PM |

The opening track on disc 3 of 1989 isn't something obvious. I just thought it worked for that particular disc.

This is a great idea, I'm looking forward to seeing the full 1989 tracklisting.
Just being pedantic here but it's Lightning Seeds, not Lightening Seeds, if you want to correct it before unveiling the final track list |

National compilation for any country (which is not UK / US). Hits of Australia 1975-now would be awesome. The 70s is when Australian music culture really started up with AC/DC, Cold Chisel, The Angels, Midnight Oil, etc. pumping out some massive rock songs. But as years went on the predominant genre turned to grunge/indie rock, then to pop/electronic, then back to more indie soft rock/pseudo folk, and in more recent years (for lack of a better word) hip hop. Australian rap isn’t exactly hip hop.. maybe the genre is just Australian rap? In any case you could literally plot out the transition of Australian music over 4 discs. Would be difficult to not have Kylie Minogue on every disc lol |

Netherlands is good choice, but don't know how mainstream and popular their acts were in other countries.

There are plenty.
You could include a lot of Eurodance/pop for a start: Alice Deejay, 2 Unlimited, Vengaboys, Doop, T-Spoon, Hermes House Band etc... Dance: Armin Van Buuren, System F, Gouryella, Ferry Corsten, Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Fedde Le Grand, Sam Feldt, Rank 1, DJ Jean And then Eurovision artists: Duncan Laurence, The Common Linnets, Mouth & MacNeal, Teach-In... Other: Caro Emerald, Eva Simons Probably quite an easy country to do. |

There will be other themes too! We're trying to also cover some bases that Now has not done yet with their themes. We are very much open to outside involvement as it's a community project, if anybody has an idea for a compilation and feels they could come up with a strong, cohesive tracklist that flows well and fits with the theme (with 3-4 'discs' of circa 80 minutes of music each) then please let us know your ideas. I’ve always wanted a Now! Britpop. Reckon I could make a good playlist. |
