BuzzJack Music Forum _ Forum News and Help _ Changes To Artist Forums

Posted by: Wall 15th April 2019, 06:14 PM

Hello,

As many of you know, myself, Haus, Jay, Jonjo and UV were hired in order to help boost activity within the artist forums and make them as successful as they could possibly be. The " Inner Circle" have had multiple conversations on ways to improve the forum and while all will not come into affect at the moment, we have identified that some AF's are more suited being in their genre and some artists could help boost activity by having their own AF'S.

We have unanimously agreed that Cardi B will receive her own forum . We have agreed that the following artists will no longer have their own AF: Leona Lewis, MKS / Sugababes and Nicki Minaj. We'd like to thank the Mod's for their work on each of these forums. Despite three AF's been removed, we are still reviewing the activity in others with a couple being under review.

We are excited to announce that we will have FOUR new AF's which we are sure can be successful which are the following:

Billie Eilish
Calvin Harris
K-Pop
RuPaul Drag Race

Billie Eilish (Mods - UV & Cqmeron) having a forum is certainty a left field choice / risk but due to her huge online following and huge growth of popularity on and off the forum we believe it will be a success.
Calvin Harris (Mods -DanG & Lewistgreen) We feel Calvin having his own forum provides diversity to the website. Not only is Calvin constantly releasing, we believe it could help target a new audience to the site as a whole
K-Pop Mod - Cody K-Pop is growing in popularity more and more on a daily basis and as a team we feel this forum could take off in a huge way and help bring new members to the website.
RuPaul. Mods: 365, Cucumberella & Liam You guys wanted a RuPaul forum, so you got a RuPaul forum

Please join us in congratulating the new mods and we can't wait to see what you guys have in store for your forums! We still have a lot more exciting things upcoming for AF and will constantly be looking at bringing in new AF'S and replacing the deadwood.

The Inner-Circle Artist Forum Moderators.
(Bal, Jay, Jonjo, Lee & UV)

Calvin Harris?

No one's interested in him as an artist in his own right.

ETA: also, why can't RuPaul's Drag Race be it's own subforum in the tv forum? Or K-Pop be a subforum on the Pop forum? It seems messy to name them "artist" forums...

Posted by: JosephAvery 15th April 2019, 06:28 PM

New forums are now up, you can access them via "View All Artists" right now while we wait for Phil to officially make them AFs!

Because subforums don't work, we've tried them before.

(omg my winner post in the inner circle announcement thread becoming a prophecy tongue.gif)

These changes are gonna be pretty exciting! Although why wasn’t Juan Carlos considered for the Calvin mood team when he’s THE resident Calvin stan?

Posted by: 5 Silas Frøkner 15th April 2019, 06:44 PM

Beyoncé, Rihanna, Girls Aloud, The Saturday’s, One Direction. All significantly outperformed in 2019 by MKS. All of which have connections to the Inner Circle.

This is bullshit.

And don’t even get me started on ¾ of the replacements.

I actually wanted rid of four out of five of those forums.

In the long run though, each of those forums don’t have constant survivors etc and thinking long term into the future 4/5 of those forums will have long term benefits with music coming soon while MKS have been promising music that hasn’t delivered. We want to push Buzzjack as a forum and for future new members a forum for Rihanna / Beyoncé is far more relevant than MKS and a much wider appeal!

Posted by: danG 15th April 2019, 06:47 PM

Congrats everyone!

Calvin’s topics in dance seem to get a lot of replies so hopefully this forum works out well too, make sure to add him to your artist selection. wink.gif

Posted by: JosephAvery 15th April 2019, 06:50 PM

I've added all of the respective mods now, next step is moving across the existing topics. Thanks for bearing with me while I do this, guys!

Posted by: Klaus 15th April 2019, 06:51 PM

The Saturdays and Beyonce definitely need to be next.

Only Calvin interests me out of the new forums but exciting to see different approaches being taken!

Posted by: Wall 15th April 2019, 06:53 PM

We had a lot of debates and another AF was basically going to go too but we couldn’t get a majority. Not even my ego counted as a vote.

In the long run these current decisions are for what’s best for AF’s and I’m sure they could all be successful.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 15th April 2019, 06:58 PM

Shame to see another of the originals go but this is definitely the right way to go as a site, looking forward to posting in the Calvin forum!

Posted by: T’Seet 15th April 2019, 07:01 PM

MKS going despite outperforming quite a few current AFs is a bit weird.

I can’t say I’m interested in ANY of the new forums but I’m sure the mods will do their best to ensure success.

Going forward, MKS doesn’t have anything to offer? They’ve not had any music releases and I doubt that they will, all their posts are based upon survivors and polls. I wanted rid of The Saturdays before anybody calls me biased but at least they have some music releases and if they done polls etc they would be much higher. I think the MKS mods have done a great job but looking forward to the future, they would be more suited to the pop forum. I have no doubt unless posts / activity / benefit of the forum to buzzjack picks up a couple of af’s will be joining them soon.

Posted by: Cqmerqn 15th April 2019, 07:07 PM

Looking forward to working with Ultra to ensure that Billie is a success! cheer.gif

Will definitely be posting in Calvin, great addition! Won’t be posting in Drag Race, but that definitely needed its own forum.

I hope K-Pop does well too, there’s a lot of potential there re. new members.

We’re returning Darius soon.

The first topic will be favourite lyric from the mega smash colourblind.

Posted by: Jonjo 15th April 2019, 07:38 PM

Darius outperformed 90% of the forums that were in the AF list and he still got the chop. So the "outperforming other forums in 2019" isn't cutting it when there's literally nothing substantial in said forum. Everything that is relevant is literally all in one topic? Which can still be discussed in the pop forum.

We're confident with the changes and literally went through everything before deciding. So please don't assume and bitch qhen you only know literally a tenth of what's been going on.

Posted by: Wall 15th April 2019, 07:46 PM

Posted by: Martyn 15th April 2019, 07:51 PM

How do you add one of the new ones to your list. Been so long since I've changed it I can't remember.

Posted by: JosephAvery 15th April 2019, 07:52 PM

This link here! http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=14

But not yet I'm afraid as Phil needs to flick the switch to make them "proper" AFs. I'll give you all a heads up in this thread when that's done.

Posted by: Jack 15th April 2019, 08:13 PM

No Cardi B and a Drag Race forum? I have no choice but to stan!

K-Pop, Billie & Calvin are all ones I can get on board with too I guess.

Posted by: Conanderella 15th April 2019, 08:19 PM

Sugababes forum getting the chop is a bit of a low blow but HEY we got DRAG RACE FINALLY.

NOW LET'S MAKE IT #1 EVERY SINGLE WEEK YAY

So are all threads that existed in the artists forums gone then? As in Leona's for example we had a thread that tracked OMS's sales/chart positions/streaming each year and that was always a useful thread to look back on each year to compare. Disappointed if that is just gone now.

It's now in the pop forum! biggrin.gif (except the sales thread, which is now in The Chart Vault)

Can't argue any of these, all the removals definitely made Buzzjack quite dated. Can't really see an argument for MKS to stay to be honest, the inner circle I'd imagine have been created got to think objectively and not just as a fan and I'd say they've done wisely here.

I don't see Billie maintaining much but I can see the argument for "looking fresh", I guess. The other 3 I can't complain about though, I'll 100% be here for a Drag Race forum, I think K-Pop forum could be a really good selling point and Calvin is definitely the main man of his genre to display a bit of diversity in our line-up.

Posted by: Jonjo 15th April 2019, 10:49 PM

Billie is definitely a risk that we were aware of and we are ready to act on it if it does indeed prove to be worthless. But we wanted to "do a Dua" and catch someone in the moment of success, who has quite the following elsewhere and a solid fanbase here on BJ. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ 16th April 2019, 01:51 AM

OMG! yahoo.gif I seriously wasn't expecting that there was even a consideration to have a Calvin Harris AF and although I'm aware that this is going to be a risk, I'm glad that this was taken.

Posted by: 365 16th April 2019, 08:38 AM

The removals all make sense to me, too. MKS/Sugababes is sad to say goodbye to in a nostalgia sense, but unlike say Girls Aloud, there's no new music from any solo members, so it seems pretty pointless.

Billie and Calvin forums seem very risky, so I'll have to see the success to believe it. Drag Race I'm sure will be absolutely fine as there's so much discussion there anyway.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 16th April 2019, 09:40 AM

With Calvin added - the description for the Dance forum should be changed too

'The home for today's dance music including Calvin Harris, Avicii, David Guetta, Clean Bandit and Jax Jones.'

I'd add Marshmello and/or Camelphat.

Posted by: blacksquare 16th April 2019, 03:31 PM

Drag Race forum is a wonderful addition! I'm glad people were listening.

I'm surprised The Saturdays survived the chop though...

Posted by: TheSnake 16th April 2019, 07:47 PM

Yeah I think the MKS one should have stayed it has a bit of a cult following and seemed to be doing well.

Billie Eilish, K-Pop and Drag Race are very popular at the minute, so its apt they get their own artist forums. Not sure how well a Calvin forum will do.

K-Pop should be perhaps under genre forums and not artist forums I think.

He should perhaps still get his own category in the artist forum hub though, the closed Leona, Nicki Minaj and MKS/Sugababes forums still have categories there.

Yes the Darius related material looks a bit of a mess being in the retro forum I think, and doesn't really go with the rest of the topics there. And yes 1 thread would be enough in the AF Hub.

This is probably quite a good idea! At the moment it would be ideal to have any Darius information under one heading. He has said he is going to be involved with a big music project sometime this year, whatever this may be!! so up until this happens (fingers crossed rolleyes.gif ) a thread in the AF Hub would be great! There are still a few of us here checking for any information and if it was all in the one place hopefully it may attract more posters back to Buzzjack. Look forward to whatever is decided biggrin.gif

Where does it end though if we move Darius discussion exclusively to the AF Hub? Leona, Nicki and MKS were only just deleted when the latest AFs replaced them, so I can understand why they're still there (although probably should go back to their respective genres soon enough).

I think it'd be more off-putting than anything else having the AF Hub where it is (to promote existing AFs and the content within them) but then having that overshadowed somewhat by discussion about someone who... is a bit of a throwback at the end of the day.
