The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) today announced that Rihanna has surpassed more than 100 million gold & platinum song certifications, elevating her to No. 1 on RIAA's list of artists with the most digital single awards and making her the first artist to surpass RIAA's 100 million cumulative singles award threshold, according to a press release put out by RIAA.

"Gold & Platinum is the industry's premier way to celebrate achievement in the marketplace," said Cary Sherman, Chairman & CEO, RIAA in a release. "We've given awards to artists for nearly 60 years, but it's rare that we have the opportunity to recognize a milestone like the one Rihanna has reached. Congratulations to Rihanna! She has not only surpassed RIAA's one-hundred million mark, but also is the first artist to do so. It's an historic feat and a testament to an extraordinary career."

The release notes that this honor encompasses the 37 separate titles released during her career so far, including a 9X multi-platinum award for "We Found Love," 6X multi-platinums for "Stay," "What's My Name" and "Only Girl (In The World)," plus a 2X multi-platinum for new song "FourFiveSeconds," a platinum for "Bitch Better Have My Money," and many more.

i don't get how all of these add up to 100 million certifications

i count 96 platinum certifications and 7 gold in her solo singles ('songs')

I missed Break It Off in that list, that one is gold as well

Which makes it exactly 100 milllion

(96 x 1mil and 8 x 0.5mil)

oh they mean 100 million sales and platinum = 1 million sales, that makes sense.

Yes, 100 million certified single sales in the US. She's probably at 103 or so at least, with all the sales that didn't pass a treshold yet
