So the chart geek in me has always been interested in song titles and what the most common ones are that people use. Obviously it would be impossible to get a list of all songs ever recorded so I'm just limiting it to UK Top 75 singles. There's various websites that list some of the most common song titles, so using Polyhex, I took some of these titles and tried to count how many different songs with that title have made the UK Top 75. I've tried to exclude songs I know are obvious cover versions so that a particular song is only counted once even if multiple artists have recorded them (although without listening to every single one, there might be duplicates I didn't realise were covers).

This is the list I've come up so far:

Stay (21 different songs)
Crazy (19)
Home (19)
Angel (17)
I Believe (14)
Breathe (13)
Beautiful (13) (shame the Kylie/Enrique duet didn't chart)
Changes (12)
Cry (11)
I Want You (11)

I'm pretty sure nothing will beat 'Stay' but can anyone think of any other titles which would be common enough to feature as the title of 10 or more UK hits?

As an aside, someone should do a poll to see what Buzzjack's favourite 'Stay' is - I'm curious whether Rihanna, Sash! or Shakespear's Sister will come out on top biggrin.gif

I found Shine a popular one, and similarly titled Sunshine.

At least three of those are covers of the Fleetwood Mac song though - Wild Colour, The Corrs and Deep Dish

I really thought 'Love' would be a more common title as that's what so many songs are written about, but there are only 3 Top 75 entries called love (and I've got a feeling the Jimmy Nail one is a cover of John Lennon anyway which would just leave that one plus Lana's!)
