McMafia doesn't compare to Sherlock's 8.08m (32.8%) but Sherlock is established and faced less competition. It'll be the rating for tonight's episode that will determine how well it is likely to do. Mrs Brown's Boys down 1.18m on last year's NYD special - I imagine it'll still time-shift well, however. ITV had a much healthier night than last year's NYD. Spectre is down on the 6.33m (28%) that Skyfall premiered with on Christmas Eve 2014, but up on the 4.73m that Quantum of Solace premiered with on 26 March 2011.

I Drink Wine Joined: 12 April 2015 Posts: 10,484 User: 21,753	I do think Maleficent would've been better on Christmas Day than Cinderella - one of the many odd scheduling decisions! Nice to see EE back up on last year's low rating and McMafia did decently up against Spectre too. McMafia seems like the type of show that will grow as it goes along and do better with timeshift. Will be interesting to see how it does tonight!

Previous Channel 5 CBB Winter Series Openers (exc./inc. +1): 2012: 3.46m/3.54m (15.8%/16.2%) [Peak: 4.34m (19.6%)] 2013: 3.37m/3.55m (15.1%/15.9%) [Peak: 4.32m (19.9%)] 2014: 3.18m/3.40m (14.0%/15.0%) [Peak: 4.17m (18.3%)] 2015: 3.09m/3.27m (15.4%/16.3%) [Peak: 3.90m] 2016: 2.67m/2.80m (13.2%/13.9%) 2017: 2.14m/2.32m (10.9%/11.9%) [Peak: 2.55m (11.3%)] I think it'll do better than last year but not by too much; I'll go 2.5m including +1.

BuzzJack Idol Joined: 8 December 2010 Posts: 50,917 User: 12,472	Tuesday 2nd January BBC 1 19:00 EastEnders - 5.98m (26.7%) 20:00 Holby City - 4.22m (20.2%) 21:00 McMafia - 4.84m (23.0%) ITV (inc. +1) 19:00 Emmerdale - 5.74m (25.6%) 20:00 The Greatest TV Moments of All Time - 2.24m (10.7%) Channel 5 (inc. +1) 21:00 Celebrity Big Brother - 2.07m (10.5%) [Peak: 2.48m (14.1%) at 22:10] Emmerdale and Eastenders almost neck-and-neck in a clash yet still achieving good figures just shows that the BBC should consider this move in the future should they be looking at another Emmerdale clash for Eastenders, given the former has the advantage of +1. McMafia loses 730k from yesterday which isn't great, especially when it faces a clash with Vera this Sunday and that will have an hours start. CBB Launch takes another drop year-on-year but gets a similar peak. At least CBB is still known to grow throughout the series if it gets a good reception.
