This has been blowing up really quickly over the past couple of weeks. The original has popped up on my Spotify Discovery Weekly playlist twice so I'm pretty familiar with that but I haven't heard the Kali Uchis version that is being used on TikTok. Amaarae and Moliy are both of Ghanaian-American descent.
It's been such a great time for Afro-inspired music in general with Essence, Love Nwantiti and this all blowing up at around the same time. |
