Jax Jones has tweeted that new music is coming this friday. cheer.gif

And a preview is on his Twitter as well!

Posted by: danG 12th June 2017, 05:09 PM

OMG 😻

You Don't Know Me is one of the best songs in recent memory so the hype is HUGE for what he does next.

Posted by: BridgeCow 12th June 2017, 05:56 PM

SO EXCITED FOR THIS! w00t.gif

Posted by: JOTA 12th June 2017, 07:03 PM

That percussion part reminds me to DJ Dero's Batucada or The Goodmen's Give It Up. Is Raye on the vocals again?

It reminds me a bit of Bongo Song (Played a-Live) by Safri Duo!

Awesome, I've been checking his Twitter account for a while now, so I'm glad something is coming. biggrin.gif

Featuring STEFFLON DON!!! https://twitter.com/stefflondon/status/874306092582481920
Also rumours Demi Lovato featuring too!
Hyped for this!!

'You Don't Know Me' has set the bar very high! Looking forward to this.

Posted by: Liаm 12th June 2017, 08:58 PM

The clip does sound quite Demi with the bit of vocal at the end, but not enough to be her I don't think laugh.gif Hyped anyway, You Don't Know Me was a banger.

Posted by: danG 12th June 2017, 09:10 PM

I hope it's just Stefflon Don and not Demi Lovato as well, not that she'd spoil my enjoyment of the song (No Promises was good) but I'd prefer Jax Jones to keep collaborating with just breaking artists like RAYE etc.

Posted by: Ryan. 12th June 2017, 10:18 PM

I was hoping this would be the "This Is Real" song with Selena that was teased a while back sad.gif

Although a Demi involvement would make up for that of course, but I think that vocal could be loads of people and is probably just Stefflon anyway magic.gif

This. Having Demi Lovato on the song would ruin it for me. Don't go down the popstar route too early, it didn't work out for so many British dance acts.

Exactly, by sticking to upcoming British talent he's standing out a bit. Both 'House Work' and 'You Don't Know Me' were excellent and a breath of fresh air.

How is he selling out though? unsure.gif
Everyone just says this because he has Demi Lovato on there laugh.gif

Posted by: Ryan. 15th June 2017, 12:59 PM

The full thing is out there, LOVE IT heart.gif Thankfully Stefflon's contribution is limited to only 20 seconds but to be fair I quite like her little verse! Demi still provides us some little ad libs at the end which we all love her to do.

This could be a massive hit, I have a gut feeling it could become Demi's biggest selling UK hit (which is apparently 'Up' at 600k+ I believe). This song is so much more instant that You Don't Know Me which took ages to grow on me.

I don't blame Jax for getting a big name on this single, it's one way of ensuring he doesn't become a one-hit wonder (or two if we are including I Got U). Sigma used exactly the same idea with Nobody To Love into Changing.

Posted by: Connor. 15th June 2017, 12:59 PM

Posted by: Spinfanny 15th June 2017, 09:01 PM

Listening to preview on Australian iTunes, as I don't know where the full link is for it.

Certainly an interesting song judging from that.

Instrumental wise sort of tribal/latin house a bit like the sort of style of Lee Cabrera - Shake It (Move A Little Closer)

This is much better than You Don't Know Me, which I found too dull. Instruction is much more lively than most chart dance these days which is excellent, can the success of Instruction that beckons in the charts finally kill off the watered down future bass and pitched-vocal-drop tropical house trends please.

Posted by: jase. 15th June 2017, 09:33 PM

Okay I actually think this could go #01? Song of the summer EASILY.

Posted by: cqmerqn 15th June 2017, 09:36 PM

Posted by: Davidson 15th June 2017, 09:54 PM

aaaaadore this

Posted by: djquavdemon 15th June 2017, 10:05 PM

I feel like I'm gonna take a whole month to get used to it, as preview didn't make it clear if it's listenable for me or just not.

Posted by: Cremey 15th June 2017, 10:09 PM

It's alright. Definitely not as good as most of you are making it out to be though!

Posted by: Ryan. 15th June 2017, 10:12 PM

My only reservation success-wise is that I fear that the tone of the lyrics makes it inaccessible to some, the "all my ladies", "bitch", "Diana Ross" type of thing. If we look back over the last year or so, every #1 is a song you can imagine appealing to a male audience or is by an artist with a very active hardcore fanbase.

I think those lyrics may restrict its appeal to a male audience and will make it a low top 10 contender rather than a top 3 contender. I prepare to be proven wrong though!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 15th June 2017, 10:15 PM

Sounds like an obvious hit.

If anything it wouldn't become as big a hit for the reason that it is not a typical inoffensive dull Spotify hit. However with You Don't Know Me being so big and with the pop appeal of Demi and the urban appeal of Stefflon, I don't think that will be a problem. Anyway the days of inoffensive-to-the-point-of-dullness spotify friendly hits dominating the chart may be behind us as shown by Jason Derulo's Swalla going top 10.

Nail on the head. Although it'll still be a chart hit, it will be more niche.

It really could have though. It's the same kind of production, beat and with droney female vocals. He literally could have just asked RAYE to stay for another 5 minutes to record this.

But fair play to him he's turned into one of the most successful dance acts of the year if this also smashes.

Posted by: Liаm 17th June 2017, 01:23 PM

I'm sure he'll make sure that his next single mentions hoes or bare bitchez to appeal to the straight men with masculinity too fragile to enjoy a sassy song like this that calls for all my ladies.

I think it'll miss the top 40 because

1) It's not a good song
2) It isn't going to attract a wide audience

Posted by: Jack 17th June 2017, 01:27 PM

Despite your personal opinion on it's lyrics and quality of the song, I can't see the follow up to one of the biggest songs of the year featuring Demi Lovato to miss the Top 40. It could even make it this week.

This is an unadulterated hit if I ever heard one. An absolute bop.

Who gives a fxck that it's aimed at girls and gays?! It's production is striking enough to get the casual listeners attention and it will be a staple in clubs over the summer for sure.

Posted by: jase. 17th June 2017, 03:59 PM

Somebody drove through town earlier with this blasting out of their car wub.gif

Posted by: BridgeCow 17th June 2017, 06:38 PM

I really don't think the lyrics are gonna limit this song as much as some think, it's just sounds like such a club-y summer-y banger and I totally see it being played loads over the summer, I've already had a few friends show me the song saying how they liked it, both straight guys.

This is clearly more female empowered than watered down Power.

Can't see this doing well at all. YDKM attracted a wide audience whereas this will only attract a female and gay male audience..
WHAT

I personally think it'll miss the top 40

I think it'll miss the top 40 because

1) It's not a good song
2) It isn't going to attract a wide audience
EARTH

are you talking about!?

Since when has the lyrics/message of an empowering song hindered that songs success? huh.gif It's also not going to miss the top 40 because YOU think it's "not a good song".

Posted by: mdh 17th June 2017, 07:55 PM

I seriously think it'll be top 5 at the very least.

Posted by: HarryEzra 17th June 2017, 09:34 PM

I personally disagree that it will have a wider audience. It will be appeal to the males, females, LGBT and certain music genres. So I am thinking it will not bomb and can see it being a hit.

It's alright. Definitely not as good as most of you are making it out to be though!
I definitely prepped myself up to have this opinion, but I JAMMED HARD when I first heard it waiting for the bus in this weather!!! *.*

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE CORKER!

Surely guys (who are into girls) listening will interpret 'all my ladies' as 'all my girlfriends' or 'all the girls in the club'??

Not really. I just don't take lyrics too seriously and enjoy the tune regardless tongue.gif

I see where you are coming from, rather than the lyrics I am looking at it genre/production/style of vocal wise more and certainly lively/ funky house like this has been stereotyped by many as appealing to these audiences most, the rest of the audience (straight males) being seen as preferring more minimal house like YDKM or the likes of Tom Zanetti.

I really hope these stereotypes aren't completely accurate though. Realistically though, judging by what dance music has made the chart over the last year or so, minimal dance music does tend to be considered inoffensive in general and regardless of demographics of the audience, appears to appeal to more people who steam/buy songs in general sadly compared to more maximal and fun sounding dance music like Instruction, so therefore it might struggle to do well. I really hope it does do well though, as I really like it!

Posted by: Jonjo 24th June 2017, 08:33 PM

How can you guys say that, when 'Power' is currently smashing!? wacko.gif That's one of the biggest female empowerment songs in a while. And it also hasnt stopped songs like 'Single Ladies' in the past.

Climbing on iTunes now heart.gif

Current positions:
iTunes - #29
Spotify - #51

Posted by: danG 11th July 2017, 11:54 AM

It's on Hot Songs which explains the climb, hopefully it can make this week's official top 40 cheer.gif

Posted by: Qassändra 14th July 2017, 07:22 PM

Making a brief cameo to say that it is more important than LIFE ITSELF THAT THIS BECOMES A HIT

Posted by: danG 15th July 2017, 02:29 PM

Made it into the top 40 at #38! And expect it to climb a fair bit next week too.

I don't usually get all excited for these kinds of music videos but WOW that picture looks like it'll be quite the watch ohmy.gif

EDIT: The suspense of having to see it on the previous page tongue.gif

Posted by: Ryan. 26th July 2017, 08:20 PM

It looks sensational! If this video is as good as that picture looks, and it gets Hot Songs promo on Friday (when I presume the video will come out) then there is still a chance this could really smash. Let's hope the label realise what a chance they've got for a big hit single here, Spotify has lined up nicely now we just need the same to happen on iTunes!

QUEEN OF POP
QUEEN OF DANCE
QUEEN OF BASIC CHOREO
heart.gif

If I had one criticism I think they should've gone all out with some simple moves to go with the chorus that could go viral, they half did it but should've done it more! Otherwise perfect vibes for what is officially my favourite song of the year so far.

Posted by: gooddelta 2nd August 2017, 03:21 PM

Astonished this song hasn't taken off properly yet, hopefully the video is the kick up the backside it needs, Demi looks amazing.

I haven't commented on the song yet I've realised, the hook is absolutely fantastic, it sort of reminds me of the Tetris theme meets Who Do You Think You Are by Spice Girls somehow laugh.gif

Posted by: 360Jupiter 2nd August 2017, 03:32 PM

Very torn how I feel about Demi's long hair.

Not bad a video tho, she looks well in sports gear, surprisingly enough.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 2nd August 2017, 04:59 PM

Video is nice enough. Doesn't even look like Demi though.

Posted by: RobBob 3rd August 2017, 01:04 AM

Am I going to have to be the first one who says Demi can't dance for shit? Stefflon Don is the only one who actually works this video. I had high hopes and the video is decent, but Demi looked bored in massive trackies whilst looking stiff as a board in a car park was not really what I imagined.

Still a tune though, can it please just take off? sad.gif

Posted by: Jade 3rd August 2017, 01:37 AM

Quite disappointed with that video. I agree with Rob, the dancing was just laughably basic and unexciting. The vivacity needed to be ramped up considerably throughout because it felt like a fraction of the energy that the song itself contains.

Stanning the song now though so if it helps it take off then fab

Posted by: Kye 3rd August 2017, 08:55 AM

You have to give it to Demi, though.. she delivers. She's done videos for the two featured tracks (Instruction & No Promises), plus her own. She was probably knackered in this one laugh.gif

Agree with every bit of this, the song still slays my life but Demi just feels like she's doing a video for a totally different song laugh.gif

Posted by: Spynz Munich 3rd August 2017, 02:04 PM

Video could have been better. I mean I liked the drums. Demi didn't really FEEL the song in it imo.

And video aside, I wish there wasn't so many "oh yeah"s in the song laugh.gif

Posted by: travis 3rd August 2017, 02:44 PM

Video is good enough for me. As for her dancing, I think she did alright? I mean, she's definitely not a dancer and that's obvious, but the fact that she was doing all the choreography instead of just standing in the middle of the dancers bopping around or just hitting the major marks definitely deserves credit. And she looks incredible!
