Stoke City have sacked Alex Neil as manager following Saturday's home defeat by Championship bottom club Sheffield Wednesday.

The 42-year-old Scot spent 16 months in charge in the Potteries after leaving fellow Championship side Sunderland to join Stoke in August 2022.

He led Stoke to 16th last season, a fall from the previous two campaigns, when they had each time finished 14th.

But they have struggled this term and currently sit 20th in the table.

Jaden Philogene is to have a scan on medial knee ligament damage he sustained in Hull's 2-0 defeat at Queen's Park Rangers.

The Tigers' leading scorer limped off in the second half of the game at Loftus Road.

England under-21 international Philogene has been a key man in Hull's start to the season with six goals.

Manager Liam Rosenior said Philogene will be assessed to discover the extent of the injury.

Huddersfield Town have sacked boss Darren Moore.

The decision follows the 1-1 draw at QPR on Sunday, which left relegation-threatened Huddersfield just three points above the Championship drop zone.

Wasn't sure whether to put this in this thread or the Premier League thread, but Leicester have been charged by the Premier League for breaking spending rules during their last three seasons in the top division. If they got a deduction it might make the fight for the Top 2 a little less intense!

What's going on with Leicester at the moment? They were looking like a team that would break all kinds of Championship records, now they're in danger of having to rely on the uncertainty of the play offs to get promotion.

Rotherham became the first side in the English Football League to be relegated this season after a 1-0 loss at home to fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle.

Bali Mumba's goal lit up a poor first half as the Millers' two-year stay in the Championship came to an end with five games still to play.

Rotherham keeper Viktor Johansson kept his side in it with a number of good saves while Plymouth substitute Ben Waine hit the post late on as the Pilgrims ended a six-game winless run.

Unfortunate for them, but it did feel inevitable given quite how far they are behind all the other teams in the league.

Well done to relegation-fighting Plymouth for beating title-hunting Leicester last Friday! Ipswich now top of the league (albeit with Leicester having a game in hand)

Rotherham United have reappointed Stevenage boss Steve Evans as manager after sacking Leam Richardson.

The Millers parted company with Richardson on Wednesday morning, two weeks after their relegation to League One was confirmed.

Evans led the South Yorkshire side from League Two up to the Championship in his first spell in charge between 2012 and 2015.

Interesting of Evans to leave Stevenage even though they can still qualify for the playoffs in L1!

Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan says if the club stay in the Championship this season, it still will not top the manner in which they won promotion from League One last term.

The Owls lost the first leg of their play-off semi-final against Peterborough United 4-0 but fought back to 5-5 on aggregate in the return leg and won on penalties before beating Barnsley at Wembley to return to the second tier.

Having taken until 29 October to record their first win this season, boss Danny Rohl has steered them out of the bottom three with two games remaining.

Abdul Fatawu's hat-trick helped Leicester City take a giant step towards an immediate Premier League return as they ruthlessly ended Southampton’s realistic hopes of automatic promotion.

The Foxes need to win one of their remaining two matches against Preston or Blackburn to go up, but their place in the top flight could also be sealed as early as Friday if Leeds lose at QPR.
