I'm afraid there is no chart commentary this week as I've been too ill to write one sad.gif Typical that it should happen when there's actually something going on in the singles chart. Normal serve ice will, I hope, be resumed next week.

Simon - I'm sorry that you've been ill.

I'll still add my own 'contribution' to your Chart Commentary Thread.

EMELI SANDE

Her 1st Album, ('Our Version Of Events'), spent 10 Weeks at No.1 and it was also
the debut Album with the most consecutive Weeks in the Top 10 - 66. It beat the
1st Beatles Album, ('Please Please Me'), which had 62 consecutive Top 10 Weeks.
Emeli's Album had a 67th Top 10 Week, 2 Weeks after its 66th.

Her 1st Album came out in February 2012, but she has left it far too long to release
her 2nd Album, ('Long Live the Angels'). That is why it has 'only' entered at No.2,
in today's Chart. I doubt if it will hang around the Top 10 very long. From what I hear,
it is not as strong as her 1st Album, and she has lost a great many Fans as it is.

We'll see if she does a Dido, whose first 2 Albums were huge in the UK, but she took too
long to release her 3rd. That entered at No.2 & fell to No.18 in Week 2. Her Career never
recovered. Nor did Duffy, who had a gigantic debut Album, only for her 2nd to enter at
No.9, & it then dropped like a stone.....

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Due to Emeli's Album entry today being her 68th UK Top 10 Album Week, I've up-dated these Lists.

THE ACTS WITH THE MOST UK TOP 10 ALBUM WEEKS

(W/E 28th July 1956 to W/E 24th November 2016)

01)… ELVIS PRESLEY – 540 Weeks

02)… THE BEATLES – 469 Weeks

03)… CLIFF RICHARD – 340 Weeks

04)… FRANK SINATRA – 315 Weeks (Not including 22 Weeks with the 1958 ‘Pal Joey’ OST) @@@

05)… ROLLING STONES – 268 Weeks (The OCC say 265 Top 10 Weeks)

06)… MICHAEL JACKSON – 265 Weeks

07)… ROD STEWART – 259 Weeks

08)… SIMON & GARFUNKEL – 240 Weeks

09)… ABBA – 224 Weeks

10)… MADONNA – 219 Weeks (Not including 6 Weeks with the 1987 ‘Who’s That Girl?’ OST)

11)… ELTON JOHN – 217 Weeks

12)… QUEEN – 210 Weeks

13)… BOB DYLAN – 199 Weeks

14)… THE SHADOWS – 195 Weeks (Not including 235 Weeks with Cliff Richard)

15)… PAUL McCARTNEY // WINGS – 192 Weeks

16)… DAVID BOWIE – 191 Weeks

17)… ROBBIE WILLIAMS – 185 Weeks

18)… THE GEORGE MITCHELL MINSTRELS – 171 Weeks

19)… BEACH BOYS – 169 Weeks

20)= SIMPLY RED – 165 Weeks
20)= COLDPLAY – 165 Weeks

@@@ = FRANK SINATRA – The OCC have him at No.3 twice, in the Chart of W/E 25th January 1959.
They have both ‘Come Fly With Me’ and ‘Only For The Lonely’ at No.3 – for its 1st & only Top 10 Week.
However, there was no such Chart Entry as ‘Only For The Lonely’, so The OCC give him 1 Top 10 Week
too many – 316. He was in the same Top 10, (at No.9), with ‘Frank Sinatra Sings Only For The Lonely’
and that Album was a No.5 Hit & spent 13 Weeks in the Top 10. It has the same Capital Label Number
as ‘Only For The Lonely’ - LCT 6168. ‘Only For The Lonely’ does not exist in UK Chart Books either.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

MALE SOLO ACTS WITH THE MOST UK TOP 10 ALBUMS WEEKS

(W/E 28th July 1956 to W/E 24th November 2016)

01)… ELVIS PRESLEY – 540 Weeks

02)… CLIFF RICHARD – 340 Weeks

03)… FRANK SINATRA – 315 Weeks (Not including 22 Weeks with the 1958 ‘Pal Joey’ OST)

04)… MICHAEL JACKSON – 265 Weeks

05)… ROD STEWART – 259 Weeks

06)… ELTON JOHN – 217 Weeks

07)… BOB DYLAN – 199 Weeks

08)… DAVID BOWIE – 191 Weeks

09)… ROBBIE WILLIAMS – 185 Weeks

10)… PHIL COLLINS – 158 Weeks @@@

11)… TOM JONES – 153 Weeks

12)… ED SHEERAN – 129 Weeks

13)… ANDY WILLIAMS – 118 Weeks

14)… MIKE OLDFIELD – 115 Weeks

15)… BUDDY HOLLY – 106 Weeks (Includes 1 Week credited with The Crickets in 1958)

@@@ = PHIL COLLINS – The OCC has ‘Hello I Must Be Going’ rising from No.23 to No.9 in
the Chart of W/E 2nd April 1983. It actually rose from No.23 to No.20 in that Chart. It had 10
Weeks in the Top 10 – not 11. Hence why I get 158 Top 10 Album Weeks for Phil Collins & The
OCC get 159 Top 10 Weeks for him.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

FEMALE SOLO ACTS WITH THE MOST UK TOP 10 ALBUMS WEEKS

(W/E 28th July 1956 to W/E 24th November 2016)

01)… MADONNA – 219 Weeks (Not including 6 Weeks with the 1987 ‘Who’s That Girl?’ OST)

02)… ADELE – 160 Weeks

03)… CELINE DION – 134 Weeks

04)… BARBRA STREISAND – 113 Weeks (Including 23 Weeks with the 1977 ‘A Star Is Born’ OST)

05)… RIHANNA – 106 Weeks

06)… WHITNEY HOUSTON – 96 Weeks

07)… KYLIE MINOGUE – 94 Weeks

08)… LADY GAGA – 89 Weeks

09)… AMY WINEHOUSE – 82 Weeks

10)… DIDO – 79 Weeks

11)… TINA TURNER – 76 Weeks

12)… PINK – 74 Weeks

13)… MARIAH CAREY – 73 Weeks

14)… BEYONCE – 71 Weeks

15)… EMELI SANDE – 68 Weeks

NOTE – BRITNEY SPEARS – In case anyone is wondering how many UK Top 10 Album Weeks
Britney Spears has had – it is 34 Weeks. She’s had 6 UK No.1 Singles, but she’s never had a
UK No.1 Album. She’s had 5 UK No.2 Albums.

Sorry to read that you've been ill. I hope those two dropped home points on Friday night didn't make you feel any worse. (But we are very grateful for yet another Villa draw, so thanks very much.) :-)

As I have spent most of the week in hospital, there is no commentary this week either. I hope I'm excused. Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Looking after myself, but that's OK. I'm not as dependent as I was earlier in the week!
